Innocent Until Proven Guilty

Not all cultures believe in a practice of innocence until guilt is proven, but I happen to find it the fairest way to judge a defendant.

Just like when everyone was convinced that OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife and her friend, the facts that were presented did not conclusively determine his guilt.  oj-simpson-glove.jpg.aa9e54451e72136fa70Similarly, the "facts" presented here by some of the members have not proven a damn thing.  The fact that people would dig into a person's personal life, based solely on not believing their words or behavior, is not only unfair, but disrespectful.

Who here is EXACTLY who they claim to be?  The internet is a comfortable place to embellish the truth to the way we want to slant it.  Thus, we can't expect that everything everyone says here is fact.

Most importantly, what is the crime committed here?  They lied?  :LOUCHE:  No one has ever done that here!  Noooooooo!  But even if they did lie, so what?  It's not against the FJ rules and it's not a crime unless it is in a court of law.

So leave it all the hell alone!  Stop acting like a bunch of 2nd graders and stop the bickering over petty shit!

You know, the is a forum for snarking, so there's a sense of humor and understanding that not every word is concrete truth here.  It comes with the territory.dog.jpg.7fee2ca1d839ae48585af167d9a3383f

Interesting choice to use OJ as the example.

Kind of highlights the distinction between the issue of "did you do it" and the issue of "can it be proved that you did it".

There's an "A hermaphrodite and a germophobe walk into a bar" joke to be made in there somewhere.

I adore Red Vines.  If you got the individually wrapped ones, could I have a couple?

The are supposed to be red licorice strips -- but I'm betting they don't have any actual licorice in them, and are just flavored candy.  That, however, does not limit their addictiveness.

As a germophobe, you know I got the individually wrapped ones...  Happy to share...

Although, I'm also an environmentalist who abhors plastic packaging.  What a dilemma!

The point of the story is, there are some people here who should be ashamed of themselves for the way they behave.  Stop trying to bring others down to your own level!!!  :5624795307fe5_32(5):

Red Vines are REAL licorice to me - Twizzlers are a flavor unto themselves.

No black licorice for me, though. :)

A "treat" that tastes like a combination of plastic and rubber. Dyed red so you can imagine they are strawberry.

I wish I could get them here. I miss herbal licorice and sour licorice.  It must nearly be time to go to the british food shop again to buy candy.

Hahaha I'd love a real sweet shop! Like one with real candy and real chocolate from UK. :)

And thanks! I was about to post my hatred of cadbury creme eggs but I realize now that I'm cantankerous about candy.

And for the record I actually like licorice. Just not Twizzlers or Red Vines.

I like real licorice -- it's actually a very useful medicinal herb as well as very tasty as a candified treat.

However, I like regular ol' candy too.  I try to make it only a rare treat, so that my willpower doesn't collapse completely (or my health), but damn, sugar is addictive!

Ever try licorice tea? Stash Tea makes a nice Licorice Spice Herbal Tea. It's not overly sweet.

"Ingredients
Licorice root*, cinnamon, orange peel, star anise, vanilla extract, sarsaparilla, orange oil, natural cinnamon flavor, clove bud oil, cardamom oil
*Licorice root is not intended for use during pregnancy and while nursing, or if you have heart disease or high blood pressure."

(No, they aren't paying me. I just like it.)

I think I have tried it, and liked it, but I have to be in the mood for it.

An excellent commentary on the rotting corpse of the SBC and those who are protecting it:

They are doing a series on Pressler over at The Wartburg Watch.  Nothing really new there, but a pretty good summary if you're not caught up.

What a lot of people including Wartburg seem to be missing is that Paul Pressler caring what the SBC believed is just a smokescreen.  The reality is this, the SBC is the single largest evangelical voting block in the country.  The lay people involved in the SBC from the Council of National Policy (like Paul Pressler, or Rod Martin) will do whatever it takes to keep this block voting Republican.  They need to cover up abuse in church, not for the sake of the church, but because it could breakup a huge block that can be controlled right now.

I would think having already experienced a uterine rupture, and IIRC this was with Freddy and about 3 weeks before his due date, Jill is in a higher than average risk for untoward events and likely is on a very individualized OBGYN plan. Navigating a pregnancy and safe birth after having had a previous uterine rupture and never having had a vaginal delivery has to make Jill’s care quite unique. I hope she utilizes high risk maternal/fetal practitioners.

Does she not realize that when you aren’t ready, things can fail spectacularly? I try very hard not to place expectations on my kids that they can’t handle. They aren’t ready for algebra. So I’m not going to force them to learn it. Her thinking is completely flawed.

Exactly! There are way more instances where "no, you're not actually ready" is the appropriate response.

Here's the thing. "You're never going to be ready so you might as well do it now" can actually be good advice - in very specific situations! But overall as a general post for your broader audience? That's horrible advice! It's also profoundly tone deaf and painfully unaware of her own immense privilege. It's easy to have kids & to start your own business from scratch when "from scratch" is having access to hundreds of thousands of dollars!
