Upcoming Coloring Books

Curious

I got some kind of shitty news yesterday so to cheer myself up, I went window shopping at amazon for coloring books.   I found a few that I thought our FJ Colorists might enjoy so decided to just make a post about them.  These are in no particular order.

I know we have a lot of Johanna Basford fans here.  This calendar looks adorable, but I'm not sure if I will get it or not.  It does have a page to color every day, so that might be fun.  The sample pages were darling. This one comes out on July 12, 2016. She also has a Lost Ocean and Enchanted Forest calendar coming out the same day.

I put this one in my wishlist.  The sample images they show look right up my alley.  This one comes out on November 9, 2016

Blooms, Birds, and Butterflies Adult Coloring Book (31 stress-relieving designs) (Studio Series Artist's Coloring Book)ir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1441320288

I already pre-ordered this one.  I normally am not all that into steampunk, but after seeing several pages that members have posted on the group blog, I decided to give this one a try.  Based on what I know about Dover coloring books, I am pretty sure this is going to be 2 sided pages and likely not perforated.   This one comes out on August 17, 2016.

Steampunk Animals Coloring Book (Adult Coloring)ir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0486799042

Unfortunately there are no sample pages up for this one yet, but the cover was interesting enough for me to put this one on my wishlist. It comes out July 20, 2016

Creative Haven Insanely Intricate Phenomenal Fractals Coloring Book (Adult Coloring)ir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0486806839

This one looks like the stuff nightmares are made of to me, but we recently has some members post pages from similar books, so I wanted to include it to give them a heads up. This one comes out on July 5, 2016.

Fantastic Cityscapes: A Mister Mourao Coloring Bookir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1501144812

This one looks like it might be fun based on the sample images. It's no Creative Cats, but the designs on the sample pages are cute. I'm throwing it on my wishlist for a determination once it comes out. It comes out on May 24, 2016.

Posh Adult Coloring Book: Cats & Kittens for Comfort & Creativityir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=1449478735

There are so many new books coming out this year.  A few that looked like they might be interesting based on the titles don't even have cover images done yet, so I didn't include any of them.   I might do another one of these posts at some point, as there really are tons of exciting looking new books coming out.

If there is a  new coloring book coming out that you think is the bees' knees, post them in the comments so we can all take a look :)

These look great, @Curious.  I'll be ready for some new books soon, for sure. I think I might like the cityscapes book!

FYI, I get an error code when trying to view your picture of the day (can't locate..2B202/1). I can view yesterday's though.

Thanks for the round up!  Just wondering, how long have you been coloring? I saw you mentioned something in another thread about how the "recent" boon of adult coloring books has been great for you, so it made me wonder what were the coloring book options before this recent boon?

I love Johanna Basford, but it's going to take me months just to finish Enchanted Forest. Then I want to do Secret Garden and Lost Ocean. She's working on two new ones, Magical Jungle and one related to Christmas. I'll probably skip them, though, because I'm not into jungles or tropical things (lol), and I don't think I want a whole colouring book devoted to Christmas.

Before the whole "adult coloring" thing, I just used regular kids coloring books.  It's very hard to find coloring books anymore that are just straight coloring books without a lot of activity pages, unfortunately.   My husband found a few at the dollar store not too long ago and picked me up a copy of each kind they had.  Maybe 8 different ones.  I was so happy that half the book wasn't wasted.   I have a couple older books that I found years ago that are just straight coloring books, too.

I also did some of those big poster type things.

Are you still getting an error?   I have a few scheduled posts and for some reason, once in a while it seems to show one of them before it's actually supposed to show up, so when you click it, it gives an error.

I usually do a day or 2 of pics of the day when I do other posts.

No, I can see it now. It happened to yesterday's, too, but, again it was temporary. All working now.

My sister colors in children's coloring books, and my mom was lamenting how a lot of them are activity pages, as well.  I got her a cute Unicorn themed coloring book at an art museum that focuses on Medieval Europe, because one of their most well known works is a unicorn tapestry.  It was awesome because it had no activity pages, and it also told a story about the unicorn. It depicted many of the images that are on the tapestry, which I thought was so cool.

Also, unrelated, but about your blog.  I noticed that it doesn't show up in the "news feed" of blogs, so to speak.  When I click on "Blogs", I see everyone's most recent posts in chronological order, but your blog doesn't show up.  However, I do see your blog posts in the side bar, which is how I click on them to view. Just thought you might want to know that.

Thanks @Curious!  I really like Johanna Batsford but a daily calendar seems a bit too intense... like @singsingsing I'd like to work on the ones already out.  So far I have shown INCREDIBLE restraint and don't own Enchanted Forest, but what I've seen here makes me reeeally want it.  And I'll be honest and say that I'll most likely end up buying Magical Jungle too.  Because clearly I don't have enough pages to colour already ;)

For some reason that I don't understand/can't figure out, my blog does not pop to the top of the list when I've posted something new.   I'm not sure if it's happening to other frequent bloggers or not.    I do show up in the list, but you have to scroll way down to almost the bottom of page one to see it.

Slightly annoying, but I figure most interested people are either following my blog or reading the blog posts widget.   I guess I should see if it's a problem for others, now that I think about it :)

I see your blog posts - but then I use the unread posts feature when reading the board most of the time.

By the way - I noticed a Dr. Who coloring book on amazon before Christmas.  A friend was excited because she wanted to get it for her daughter for Christmas and noticed it wasn't coming out until sometime this year.  Wanted to mention for the Whovians among us.

I have two coloring books on my Amazon Wishlist and both of them will be released on May 18th. They are Art Deco Egyptian Designs and Dazzling Dogs, both Creative Haven books. Am looking forward to them!

Editing to add that I only buy books that have pictures on one side of the page and are perforated on good quality paper. Am not too interested in coloring mandalas or repetitive shape designs or tons of leaves in one picture unless there's a lot more going on that just that. It amazes me how some of our colorists have the patience and talent to color designs like that and have them turn out so well...they would drive me bonkers.

So you color all the pages in one book before starting another?   I admire that dedication.   I can't do that.  Even when I used kids coloring books, I had to have a few different ones to choose from.

I pre-ordered Dazzling Dogs already.   I have the Art Deco one in my wishlist, but I may wait on that one until you post some pages from it.   I have so many books now that I'm starting to get a lot more picky.

I prefer single sided, but I do really like the Lost Ocean and Animal Kingdom book.   I just use gel pens or colored pencils on those pages so I don't have to worry about bleed through.   I had my husband use and exacto knife and slice the pages I wanted in my "to be done" pile out of the book.

RE: number of c-sections - I've heard of women in Europe being told 2 only; my friend's parents argued that Americans do more and their doctor okayed four. Women in US 4 only. But have met women who have had 5 sections. Two women I know were told at their last c-section (3rd and 5th) that their uterus was at the point of rupture and advised them to not have any more pregnancies. My point is it's very individual and a doctors should consider individual circumstances.

One sister could be a crime of opportunity, but 4 sisters and a babysitter presumably multiple times each is a preference.

And considering the age of the youngest sister at the time? Yeah, that's not a crime of opportunity.

She talked about how the little children were taking bread from the pantry and putting it in there.

      That could be concerning.

Look I know kids do weird things as part of games, and maybe I've been reading JRod too much but my first thought was that they are hungry and hiding food for later.

This I just don't get. Surely at least part of the point of it is storage? At the very least wouldn't you clean just to make sure you hadn't brought spiders or other insects in with you?? Betting at least part of the price difference was cleaning, restoring, polishing and insect-free guarantee!

She talked about how the little children were taking bread from the pantry and putting it in there. So maybe it was clean when it came home but then the food got in it?

Unclear. I guess I don't get why if you recorded that you wouldn't pause, wipe it out, and rerecord? I would be embarrassed by that.

If Anna and the kids still live in Arkansas I hope they weren’t purposely excluded.

Anna may be the one distancing from certain Duggars. With how public Jill has been about going to therapy and other things it wouldn't surprise me if Anna noped out of this.
