Kitten Naps

The last 48 hours have been a trial for South Louisiana, and we're not out of the woods yet. Our home has been dry but many around us aren't so lucky. Please keep us in your thoughts.  What to do when it's pouring rain??? Nap!

Thor Rainy Friday

It's pouring rain here so we're having cabin fever. Baby Thor is Zooom! Kitty! He jumps! He runs! He chews on everything! He pounces invisibles, he's a cat!  I had to have Little Hooman hold him so I could get a good picture.

And Just then, he learned how to Cat.

He's still perfecting eating like a big boy. The - stick your whole head and two feet in the bowl - is a popular method.  He's been given the *boop* of approval from the old man. They curled up in front of the fridge & took a cat nap.

Thorsday Activities!

I figured out how to brighten the video in YouTube!  I'm learning!   It's still a bit dark but you can see his climbing abilities.  He's finally getting the concept of lapping, not sucking, at the milk.  Hopefully we'll have a mostly weaned kitten by the time Little Hooman and I start back to school in a week or two.  He runs. He jumps. He climbs. He bitches at me when I don't pick him up in the kitchen!  He's a fuzzy little love bug that lets me rock him to sleep.  Yesterday's weight:  15.

Thor & his Housemates

We've had a full week of growing & purring & investigating the house. Her knows what the door is all about. As soon as we open it he knows to stand back a little & come around, toddling out & down the hall as though he knows where he's going. Inevitably he looks back or runs for familiar toes.  He's still so itty! But he's mighty. Not quite eating from a dish yet, but there is interest so we're getting there. Happy Birthday Thor!

Thirty days ago this little muffin was squeaking for his little life under the edge of my house. He was tiny & cold & his mama was no where in sight.  Now he zooms around the living room, potty's in his own litter box, and loves to have his belly tickled.  He grooms his own toes & loves to be rocked to sleep. Thor Sundays

In two days my mini-muffin will be 30 days old by my best guess.  I found he and his litter mates on the 26th of June, four Sundays ago.  While Honey and I are still somewhat on the fence about whether or not he's actually a he or a she, the name Thor will remain no matter what.   I expanded the kitty condo in the spare room so he's got some room to stretch and play.  I snitched two jingly balls the older kitty's had tried to hide and Little Hooman gave a piece of a project she'd made a cou

He POOOOPPEED!

Early this morning at 2 am.  It was a little thinner than I would have preferred but not full on diarrhea.  I had broken down and made literal sugar water, a 4/1 water/sugar mix and gave him about 2 ml's of that yesterday evening.  The teeny quarter teaspoon in his milk hadn't been enough to matter.  I didn't give him anymore this morning, a. because he turns his little black nose up at it and b. because I don't want to give him the runs.  I went back after he ate this morning and added half a t

Vet Visit no. 2

Took the wee one in to see about treatment for either worms or possible blockage.  He was a little trooper and got snuggled in the waiting room.  He weighed in at 7.5 oz.  Doc took his temperature (not a happy kitty) and told me he's still too tiny and too underdeveloped to handle any kind of vaccination or medicine.  He didn't give him an enema for similar reasons:  too small, too much of a risk of causing the opposite effect and dehydrating him again.  Doc did take a look at the ick that was o

Thorsday came early

As per request, there is a new baby muffin video up.  I tore my director away from her *very important anime* and made her take kitten video!  (am I the only one who likes torturing teenagers?) Vet visit first thing in the morning.  He's doing well, eating, playing, and walking around but he's constipated again.  I don't want to keep home remedy-ing him at risk of making him sick.  He's so close to four full weeks anyway I want to see if he can get a preliminary shot or two or at least some

The 4th Sunday of Thor

Made it to 6.4 oz today! I've been adding bits of wet food fat/oil to his milk & he's eating 8 ml's at a time now. Still sleeping often but waking up & playing & purring more. We're going into his fourth week & I've noticed he can potty a bit on his own. I still stimulate just to make sure.  He's a total snuggle bug & loves to be cuddled up. Growing Growing Growing

Growing by leaps & bounds. Weighed in early this morning at 5.1oz! We have officially doubled weight! He's about 20 days old and seems to be developing pretty well given his little bitty state.  He is awake for longer periods & likes when Honey rubs his little belly.  Walking & squeaking!

Toothless Thor Winchester

Introducing...... I got to looking at his little round face & the way hid little ears stick up.... he reminds me of Toothless the dragon from How to Train Your Dragon. We have him, Toothless Thor Winchester, Madame Princess Fluffypants, and... Texi.  (Yes I'm a Supernatural junkie) I had to go back and brighten every photo because he's just pitch black except for his white patch on his chest. He's outgrowing his bunny. A whopping 4.5 oz!

Kitten Video Debut

It's about 6 minutes, it was taken with my phone and I couldn't clip it down so there's a bit of dialogue, a bit of kitten, and some directors commentary.  Little Thor is so dark, and the lighting is so bad...he doesn't show up well on video   Please excuse my sewing/art room.   This is my first ever YouTube video.  I'm happy that it's my babies.

3 Week birthday

They grew!! I'm so happy! Little Thor weighed in today at 3.7oz & Little Hessie at 3.1oz. Two weeks ago they barely tipped the scale at 2.25. They're eating about 4-4.5 ml's per feeding & we've got open eyes & perky ears. They are little squirm worms with big purrs. I miss them when I go too long without a cuddle.  I had to make the half day trip yesterday to pick up my little hooman from the airport & was itching to snuggle my little marshmallows when I got home. She's Got Bette Davis Eyes

Little Hessie's eyes are open!!! They started yesterday and they are fully open today. She's gained a couple tenths of an ounce & has fluffed out nicely. I got a pretty good pic without the flash.  Tried to take one of Little Thor but between squirms, helicopter paws & the fact that he's black as night.... well, you can see a blob with a mouth. Also.... I'm thinking Thor might be Thorina. The next few days will be the tell. I might have two little girls in my hands! And s/he's up to

Long weekend, Big appetite

The muffins did fine this weekend after their doc visit. Little Thor is eating much better, Little Hessie is trying. I've been subbing in half a milliliter of water here and there and it seems to make a difference.  Looking at pictures of new kittens online it stirs up wonders: were they abandoned immediately? Were they premature? Are they stunted? Having found them last Sunday they are definitely at least 9 days old today. Their eyes are still closed but their little ears have unfolded. An
