Guns Aren't the Problem, Ammunition Is

While I strongly dislike guns, I do realize that people have some right to own one and that they may actually be collectibles, like dolls, stamps, coins, or other such things.  But an empty gun won't hurt anyone, unless of course you swing it at someone.  It is the ammunition that really causes harm.  So instead of selling bullets that are designed to explode on impact and cause great damage, all guns should either do this or this No exceptions.  Just sayin...

Labels of Hatred

Why do we feel the need to label people?  Black/white, gay/straight, male/female, vegan/meat eater, Jewish/Christian....  Who the hell cares?  Seriously!  It's just a form of identifying someone else as something other than yourself.  And face it, in today's world, a lot of people see these differences not for what they truly are, which is nothing more than a skin color, a religious belief,or where they are from, but for a reason to think of those people as different or odd.  But in reality, tho

Round Numbers

In recognition of my 100th blog entry, I thought I would talk a little bit about round numbers.  We like to make mention of certain numeric goals.  I know I cast recognition for these targets myself, but when you think about it, not all of these numbers are really "round." Sure, 100 has some roundness to it, but the front end of that number is extraordinarily flat.  No matter how you draw a number 1, it is as flat as the earth was before Columbus and Magellan.  If we are talking about truly

Problem In Society Today

Back on my soap box today... Recently, a friend of mine was out dancing with some of her friends at a night club.  A young male placed his hands on my friend's butt while she was dancing.  She turned and told him "No!" and continued to dance.  The same male did the same thing to one of her friends.  When she too told him "No!," he put his hands in front of her and attempted to touch her crotch.  This woman grabbed his hand, twisted his arm and asked him to leave them all alone. Twenty Minutes of Action

It's time for me to hop back on the serious issue bandwagon here.  In January of 2015, a student at Stanford University sexually assaulted and raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster.  His actions were so heinous and despicable that one of the two witnesses who saw what he did, broke down and cried as he held the assailant down until police arrived.  The victim is forever scarred by this incident, as you might imagine.  She went out drinking and passed out.  Not a wise choice on her pa

RIP Harambe

On this Memorial Day in the United States, I want to remember Harambe, a rare western lowland gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo, who was shot and killed by zoo staff to save a 4-year old boy who had slipped into the gorilla enclosure.  Zoo officials say tranquilizing the gorilla would have been too slow and a staggering 400-pound animal could have stumbled and/or fallen on the boy.  Commotion from the crowd made the animal more agitated.  However, it appeared the animal was trying to protect the chi
