Birdies

Finally got my second picture finished, I really like most of this one and found it fun to colour.  Alfie the cat didn't want me to take a photo of it but I shooed him out the way lol.

The Latest Mystic Mandala

Mystic Mandalas book.  CraZ Art colored pencils.  Just the colors I felt this time.   Editing to add that is a lilac and not white in the mandala.  Pale and it is not showing up well in the photo.

Felt tips and free pics

From some free mandala kindle book. I'm not happy with the center.  Free dover color by number butterfly I printed the top on on normal paper 80gsm. The butterfly is on 90gsm. The second was way nicer to color because it didn't bleed and soak the paper quite as much. If anyone wants a comparison of the backs of the pictures it is in the spoiler.

Enchanted Forest insanity

This one turned out kinda trippy. In other news, I'm the proud new owner of 60 prismacolour scholar pencils. I've been using Faber Castell watercolour pencils, which I really like, but I'm looking forward to trying out the new ones. I was looking for decent pencils with lots of different shades that wouldn't break the bank, and the prismacolours had good reviews. We shall see.

Under the Sea...also

When I was looking through old posts to find the seahorses that @iweartanktops6 had done, I saw that she posted another one I recently colored, so I decided to post that one here as well. Here is her version: And here is mine: This is from Lost Ocean and was done in gel pens.  Again a picture with the washed iphone, so not the greatest picture.   I really need to get my good camera f

Can you find the mistake?

This was one of my early pages. I made a mistake and by the time I noticed it was easier to just leave it because at the time I didn't have anything to fix it with. Obviously this needed to be fixed. Since then I've acquired a Sakura white gel pen and a Bic white-out pen for fixing mistakes with gel pens. I prefer the white gel pen even though it usually requires two layers of ink to cover the underlying color because I can control it better. The white-out pen covers the underlying color better

Dragon's eye

I did the eye weeks ago, and it took me ages to do the background out of pure laziness. I've discovered that some backgrounds can be boring, and that makes it take way longer to do. And makes me pay less attention to do a good job with coloring (strokes, filling out color, etc). This is from the Harry Potter: magical creatures coloring book. I colored with crayons.

Another from the time chamber

Well, guys, I'm going through SEVERE withdrawal. I haven't done any colouring at all in two weeks (!) due to visiting family, which includes a nine-month-old who would be a challenge, to put it mildly. Since I've only posted 27 times here, I thought I should dig something up so you don't all forget about me.  I didn't post this originally because the photo is so out of focus. This is one (of the two) where my pink Copic basically threw up on my page. I screamed in horror and then set about attem

For My Valentine

I made these to give to my Valentine! (Cheesy, I know).  I got lazy/ran out of time so thats why the last one is not colored in all the way.  Also, because my red pencils were starting to wear down and I didn't want to totally use them up in one project.  I printed these off the internet!

Indian Mandala (Blue)

From my Indian Mandala coloring book.  CraZ Art colored pencils.  I'm happy with the way it turned out.  Nope, didn't do the background.   Second photo is sort of, kind of an inspiration for color at the moment.  You can see that this is not a direct inspiration but it was in my mind while making color selections.  It's a calendar I have at work (yes, that is a paper clip on the corner because without it the corner of the page sags and gets blown away by the ceiling vent that blows constant

Matryoshka Doll from Russia

A Matryoska Doll from Russia, from Thaneeya McArdle's Folk Art coloring book (Design Originals). I decided not to color it in the traditional Russian reds and used blues and purples instead. I'm happy with how it turned out except for the face which is a little too florescent for my taste at least in person, the scanner toned it down enough that I like the scanned version better.

Two pages from "Garden Dreams"

I have two new pages today, both of them from the "Magical Garden Dreams" book. The first one I did really quickly (two hours, tops) in Stabilo point 88 pens because I needed a change. I think it's fun! The second one's a peacock, which I think turned out great. I used colored pencils for that one.

Mystic Mandala 6

I seem to be on a roll with the Mystic Mandala book.   There is one color choice in this I'm not thrilled with.  Yes the background is colored but it is light gray and hard to see in the photo.

Seahorses

I decided to post this one here because @iweartanktops6 posted this one from Lost Ocean when this blog first started.  You can see her version here: I was really happy with this until I accidentally grabbed the wrong pen for the "background" of the seahorses.  Of course once you start with pens/markers it's too late, so I just had to go with it and hope for the best.   They are very muddy which is a bit of a bummer.  The picture quality leaves something to b

Winter

This is my first one with colored pencils. I don't really have the patience to color it in very nicely. But I still like it.

Frida Kahlo The Wounded Deer

I love Frida Kahlo and was so excited to find a free online coloring page of her work! I really just did this one quickly. Needed to occupy myself while watching tv.

Space Cats & Other Oddities

Here's another page from my current obsession, Curious Creatures by Creative Haven. I like all of the odd little creatures, but my favorites are the two kitties in the spaceships/flying saucers!  Prismas, Copics, and W&N ProMarkers...as usual.  Have another page already finished and just started a new one...obsession!    Sorry I had to take the photo indoors so it's not as bright and vivid as it looks in person.

Secret garden: a million leaves a million colors

I wondered what it would look like if I used every colored pencil on the same amount of leaves. So this happened. Every pencil is used on 7 leaves (unless I screwed up) PS. You can thank me for the FAQ access with jelly beans.  apparently being part of a cult had us with restricted access

Bubbles with Brights

The first one is done with CraZ Art Brights.  A pack I found at HyVee while grocery shopping.  Background is with a regular CraZ Art black.  and there are a few circles in the lower portion done with one from the regulars but I chose to continue with the brights.   Second is a mix of neon and metallic gel pens with black background.  I did this a month or so back - I think while binge watching How to Get Away with Murder (or Scandal - one of the two).   The third is one that I'm partia

Happy Carousel

This one was fun.  I did a rainbow theme, but I made the animals neutral so that you wouldn't get a migraine staring at the page.  I considered doing each row a different theme, which would have been cool, I think, but I am not creative enough to think of three separate but cohesive themes.  It's from the book called "Off the Bookshelf"  http://www.amazon.com/Off-Bookshelf-Weirdly-Wonderful-Relaxation/dp/1617452785 using my trusty Prismacolor scholars.  I really like this book, the drawings

Toucan Sam

From Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom postcards.  I'm very happy with the way he turned out!  I wanted to make him look realistic so I had to do some creative blending - somehow I managed to lose my orange pencil crayon.  Since I coloured (most of) him on a long flight, this also resulted in me peering at google images saved on my phone.  Because of course I couldn't just do it from memory or be creative haha.  A superkeener moment, I know, but at least I wasn't colouring in the dark using my iph

Cupcakes, flowers and butterflies

This is the first page I have finished,  not sure how I feel about it.  Is anyone else really critical of their colouring when they finish?  There are a few bits in it that I love like my red and yellow butterfly and my red rose.  I used stabilo fineliners, sharpies and a cheapo set of gel pens from asda.

Stuffies!

@laPapessaGiovanna has kindly given permission for me to post her adorable drawing here for people to color.   I am quite jealous of her ability.   I the bunny.  I just want to pick it up and squeeze it.

      Went here tonight for dinner

They have a kind of Juicy Lucy called the Blucy - which is a type of Juicy Lucy with blu cheese.  When my mom, sister, brother in law, and niece were up last weekend we went to the 42nd street location in Minneapolis.  Tonight I went to the Como Ave location instead.  Yeah, it hit the spot.
