I'm a Wee Bit Cranky

Yes, this is a work related ramble.  And I am about to spew on a likely unpopular opinion.  However, I'm cranky (which seems to be routine lately) and not sure I can work up a dang about caring about said upopular opinion. My boss came in late today because son needed to go to orthodontist.  Okay.  Same son has a track meet.  wife is sick.  So boss is now leaving early because son.   I'm single.  I do not have children.  Can I just randomly take afternoons off.  Even just half an hour.

Helping - Honest

Honest, she was helping.  in that 'look at me! I'm being adorable!' while I'm trying to work kind of way.  Then there was patrolling/securing the perimeter.  Pardon, the crud on the windows.  My apartment's windows get condensation all over them and I suck at wiping it off and this window is hard to get to because desk.

I'm A Freak

yes - both work and music.  I may have inherited a tendency from my mother for 'a song for everything.'  Although in my it manifests as the mental jukebox.   This morning I'm doing audit work (seriously - yay - I'm a freak).  This is stuff that landed on my desk yesterday because oops it got messed up at year end and it needs to be done quarterly and to get us off the bad child list we need to comply.   Someone asked me what I was doing because eleventy trips to/from the printer.  I to

Covers

On the way to work this morning, my iPhone (which I use now as an overgrown iPod touch) threw Wicked Game by Ville Valo at me thus inspiring my blog post.   I got the happies listening to this and made the song repeat several times during my drive.   Ville's Version the original by Chris Isaak for those unfamiliar with this song.   That sort of took me on a mental trip through covers of songs that have done things for me lately. Like Sounds of Silence by Disturbed (I

No Clues Today

Not a single clue in sight.  Nope, not here.   I'm having one of those mornings.  I had hoped that maybe the stupid that chased me around on Firday would have ran off and gotten lost, but no.  I believe it lurked here all weekend waiting for my return.

And the Asnwer is NO

It's month end.  I should be month ending.  I'm currently fuming in a fire-breathing dragon with steam coming out the ears manner.  Because my busy day was disrupted by a request to do something that yesterday i declared was not an issue in my realm.  But someone decided I had a code that allowed me to allegedly fix something.   Only I've never used this code before.  And I check with my bosses who don't know what this screen does either.  And since we have a mandate to not recost thin

Yes, You Answered His Question

Awwwwww.  Look at you newbie AP Supervisor answering that question.  The one i was copied on.  Becuase there were actually two 'reversals' in his account.  Sure, you answered why yours was there.   But, well, I'm older than you, have more experience than you and frankly, I kick butt.  So I went back.  Looked at why my entry was there (accrual in one month - data from your people, reversal in the next month).  And what transpired with your write off and why it was written off.  Sure, you pro

Yes, It Would Be Easier

I'm currently in a head desk battle with the fine folks over in customer service that do wonderful thinks like generate debit and credit memos.  The issue at the center of this particular battle is why/how did you hit the account you did?  Really, it shouldn't be here.  And had this hit the revenue account like the rest of the wayward debit and credit memos these folks put through, I would have put it on my list of things to move on the first workday and moved on.   But it hit a weird accou

Wait? We're Doing What Now?

So I went to pull invoices a bit ago for something I track on a regular basis.  Now, the AP clerks know I self-serve and dig my own crap out of their files.  (I also put it back where I got it).  And I kind of knew that they've been scanning invoices and such.  However, no one has bothered to educate me as to exactly what is going on.  At all.  Until today.  And I had to ask at that.   Yes, I get 'not more filing.'  And sure,  'paperless' sounds nice.  Until the auditors start asking for st

But It's Not Mine!

Probably I'm going to come off as whiny.  Not sure I really care.  Okay, I care but, well, I want to babble about this for a bit. Yesterday, in the mail, I received greetings from the US Department of Education regarding a student loan.  I have paid my student loans off, thank you very much.   And when I ripped open the envelope I find that it is not mine.  Oh, wait, yes, it was indeed addressed to me.  But it was not about my loans.  Oh no.  this was about my sister's loan.  And did I know

She Said "Clouds"

I had a hair appointment Saturday.  Which means (because I'm weird and set in my ways) I was in KC Saturday.  And I combine my hair appointments and Mom visits.   So I went to see her before my appointment.  They changed her meds a bit last month.  Reducing Trazodone (Sp?)  - which she is on due to anxiety and an avid 'I want to go home' that was unrelenting - to see if it would make her more physically stable.  They're concerned (finally) because she is shuffling.  (when she walks).  Somet

Learning to Ask For Help

I was raised to be independent.  I will tell you oftentimes I am independent to a fault.  I hate being a bother.  I don't like asking for help.  I want to do it on my own.   So I sometimes have to make myself ask for help.  Or remind myself of limitations.  Or accept limitations.   i'm not there yet, not 100%.  Nope.  I'll probably fight it to my dying breath.  Heck, I can see it in my own mother even in her state of dementia.   So with my recent acceptance of foot and ankle issue

Priority Differences (or why my boss makes me crazy when he 'backs me up.')

So I came to the office late today because podiatrist.  When I'm out, my boss is supposed to back me up and take care of urgent costing issues.  I put up an out of office notice for my internal 'customers.'  And the only time they send him something is when they actually need things costed right then.   Now I have my work email set up on my phone.  Oh, I know, I'm nuts.  But over the 2 years or so I've had to deal with mom issues it meant I could reply to emails even if I didn't have the wo

Medicaid Application for Mom - Making me Stabby

I am attempting to (again) apply for medicaid for my mother.  Really, such a joyous (read that with dripping, oozing sarcasm) experience.  This is a very messed up online process involving the broke-ass state of Kansas.     At the moment my conundrum is what the hell they mean with the Social Security Income questions.  They ask for a social security benefit amount oh and for Supplemental Social Security.  Ummmmm I don't know.  She'll by 84 in a few weeks and she gets a check.  One section,

Purchasing Cards, Making my Monday

Purchasing Cards at work.  Crikey.  Really people.  Are these THAT hard?  Especially now that we have cracked down and you more or less are not supposed to be using them?   Okay, I get it.  You had a fraudulent charge (imagine!  No really, since this is the second card at our facility that has been knowingly stolen, lost, etc in recent months).  Perhaps notifying your friendly neighborhood accounting department so we are aware of said stolen status would be helpful.  And yes, you still need

One Month Until Camp!

It's less than a month until Camp Nanowrimo!  Held twice a year (April & July).  I enjoy camp more than regular Nanowrimo because I can set my own goal and/or work on other things.   Due to various circumstances I've done little with my writing since November ended.  I have been thinking though.  Before I even ended my 2015 pursuit, I had come to the conclusion that November goes much better if I, gasp, prepare.  Which means I have to have an idea of what I'm writing a year in advance.

Yes, It's a Boot

So, last Wednesday I went to a podiatrist.  I've been messing around for longer than I care to admit with an aching/painful left foot & ankle.  I have (Achilles) tendinitis.  And was given a boot.  So I'm hobbling around on it until at least next week.  This is bringing unwanted attention.  You know, the 'oh what happened.' stuff.  Nothing.  It's tendinitis.  I'l be fine.  (now go away and leave me alone again).   Thanks to the boot I have to wear a hoe in the house (and the boot).  I h

A YouTube Driven Trip Down Memory Lane

So after my viewing of the latest Rodriquii video I, as I am prone to doing, surfed YouTube.  I left one of my surfing finds in the Taylor Swift thread.  (Taylor and Def Lepard). Sadly I watched more than one of those videos and am working to clear my mind of the atrocity that as Taylor & Def Lep singing Pour Some Sugar on Me.  Ummm part of this collaboration relies on autotune and the other part came up without it and is/was produced by Mutt Lange who is a stickler.  (I spared you that vide

And They Wonder Why I Check?

It's almost month end.  And on the next to the last day (no, not the last day - we'll get to why on doing it now and not the last day) I send out reminders and do a monthly check for items that may have gotten into the system for my plants without a cost.  Yes, I've learned to check that.  Every month.  I learned last September in a meeting, I might be the only one in our unit checking.  And today?  Today's check is WHY I check.  Every month.  Once that item gets out there with an active status,

Grouch Zone

Oh yeah - they took me there.  And it might be a good thing that we're in different states.  I'm covering costing for another location.  The previous cost accountant left.  This is a threepeat for this location.  And apparently they have yet to get the memo down there that 'my way IS the highway.'   I'll spare you the boring cost accounting dork details and leave it at, if you want me to cost part 1234.  Please do not refer to hasn't been bought in more than 3 years part 5378.  Corporate ch

The Joys of Extended Family

Yes, two in one day.   I've been meaning to discuss this one and well a few too many Facebook posts by someone on one subject only and here I am. The daughter of one of my first cousins (1st Cousin Once Removed) is not just into essential oils.  Oh no.  See, she's gotten into pandering Young Living Essential Oils on her Facebook page.  So in addition to her redecorating efforts, her real estate stuff, fitness and healthy eating,  and non stop photos of her son I now have never ending p

Wait! Do You Think I Think That's An Emergency?

It might be Monday.  My usual attitude is, well, see the minion photo below.   Today, however, I pull up my email and find an email from yesterday (okay I saw it on my phone last night but didn't really read it).  Now per my check of the calendar - yesterday was Sunday and nobody has ever told me that I need to check email for costing requests on the weekend.  Hand on, let me backup.  Said request is not from one of my people.  Oh no.  The cost accountant (someone I helped train) for anothe

She's Shuffling

The social worker at Mom's facility called this week.  She always starts conversations by stating, before who is calling, that everything is fine.  Personally, if everything were fine I wouldn't being getting a call.  And, Mom wouldn't be in a facility.  But, okay, I translate this to she's not dead and she's not hurt.   They concerned because she's shuffling.  Ummm, okay but she was doing that before I brought her to you and she's been there since June of last year and you're just getting

Music - Because I'm Tired of Da Funk

I came reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllly close to being out of my funk.  The one that set up residence at the end of January.  Only this morning put me back into it.   So I've wandered (thanks in part to the Rodriquii) over to youtube and I'm surfing music videos.   In and out of videos, back to my homepage.  Then this came up on my recommendations.   I love this song.  There's a history with me.  The local AOR (album oriented rock) station used to play this

Oh Look, I'm Friends With A Grifter

So a couple of days ago, I look at my twitter feed and see a tweet from a specific friend.  Internet friend.  We have met once in real life.  At one point we were very close.  Things have happened and we've drifted apart.  Things happen.  Interests change.  Life happens.  In this case she fell into an obsession about the series Supernatural.  I'm not talking I love the show I can't miss it.  I'm talking she has built an entire twitter presence related tot he show and spends every fan convention

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

      Giraffe

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?
