Damn. They both look so young. I really hope for a nice break between babies, but I actually doubt that will happen.

Sadly she will be pregnant with number 2 by this summer.

I agree with you. And I'm really afraid that she'll continue to have these poorly prepared homebirths and one day something terrbile will happen.

I don't like this family, but I'd never wish any ill will on the kids or their babies. Its not like they have a choice. The girls are taught to breed. It's sad they were never allowed to be who they wanted to be. I could totally see Joy at college on a sports scholarship.

Don't get me wrong - I wish Joy no harm!! I hope for her to recover easily, stay non-pregnant for at least a year and have a safe birth with which she is comfortable the next time.

Is a safe homebirth ever an option after a C-section? I thought the default is C-sections from then on, or a VBAC has to be carefully monitored in a hospital.  I also wish none of them any harm, but from what I know, if Joy (or Jill) tries for a homebirth now, and certainly if Joy gets pregnant again in the next few months, and if they keep up that pattern for the foreseeable future, then statistically it's only a matter of time before something terrible happens. I'd love to be wrong, though. I certainly don't know anything from personal experience.

I agree,  she needs to take it easy.

Gideon looks so much like Austin, and especially Austin's dad - at least his profile is 100% Forsyth.

I wonder if he will morph into a bit of a Jim Bob as many Duggar grandsons seem to do :pb_razz:

During the lead up to Jill having Sam there was a lot of discussion about how VBACs need to be in a hospital and monitored by an OB, but maybe I’m imagining it.  Of course, Jill attempted to VBAC at home for 40 hours with Sam so the Duggars might not think the hospital is necessary.

If I'm remembering right, some posters said that in Arkansas, it's illegal for a doctor or a licensed midwife to attend a VBAC homebirth. I suppose that a family who tries for a homebirth VBAC can have an unattended birth, but I hope that isn't common. :my_confused:

I believe most Midwives hand you over to a doctors car if you have a VBAC, and they require it be done in hospital, because of the increased risk of uterine rupture. States like AR had to outlaw it because of people like the Duggar's who think they know more than medical science, because right wing Jebus said so.

I agree!I hope she is able to breastfeed, and maybe, just maybe..it could suppress her ovulation?I know it doesn't always work for everyone.

Shadow 1 was an emergency C section, after three days of labor and failure to progress. It's a long story.:pb_eek:

I was able to have successful VBACs with Shadows 2 and 3, but my doctor insisted that I be placed in the LDRP room that was directly next to the OR just in case of disaster. A home birth VBAC would never have been an option, the risk for uterine rupture and bleeding out is too great. If Joy chooses to try that then she's either woefully uninformed or extraordinarily arrogant.

If it supresses ovulation for her, please let her breastfeed Gideon for at least 18-24 months.

I mean, I don’t think many of us expected Jill to wait but Israel and Samuel’s age gap lines up with waiting 18 Months to conceive after a c-section, so there’s a possibility that they waited. Maybe Jill will advice Joy to wait, but hopefully not to do a home vbac

I don’t think it’ll surpress that long, unfortunately.  Once he starts eating solids, he’ll be drinking less breast milk and she’ll start ovulating again.  My sister made this mistake and got pregnant again rather quickly.

Perhaps Joy will wait the recommended time if the doctors tell her that she may jeopardise her chance to have a bazillion kids if she conceives again very quickly and has complications.

Right, I didn't expect Jill to not get pregnant for ~18 months after Izzy was born. I didn't expect Jessa to still not be pregnant this long after Henry was born. I didn't expect Jinger to not get pregnant for a year after getting married. I'm just going to wait and see what actually happens with Joy.

Remember that Jill also did breastfeed for an extended period of time (unlike Jessa). So it's possible that lactation suppressed her cycles and even they they returned they may have been wonky a bit which helps explain the spacing.

I was a doula for a few vbac's- all were absolutely done in the hospital, with midwives that worked in a combo ob/gyn/midwife practice, so there was always an ob back up. With one of them, i remember the ob coming in several times and checking in with the mom, so he was must've been hanging close by. They were monitored very closely. I can't imagine how anyone can feel it's safe to try at home.

I know, but we can dream.

I'm going to continue holding out hope that Gideon is an only child for a few years. Joy is so young and I have no doubt she loves Gideon, but I hope she has time to adjust to family of three before they become a family of four.

It's interesting that most of us here are more concerned with the women's safety and health than they are themselves. (As far as we can tell.)

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
