I think if anything, the more siblings you have, the greater chances you have of feeling alone and lost because you don't really have anyone focusing on you. I work at a school and we have a couple of kids who come from bigger families and they often act out for attention because they've said they don't get it at home.

I agree with you. I have four siblings, two older, two younger, and I'm in the middle. It can be very lonely even with four siblings. I'm not close to my siblings, even though I live with one, and two others live in the same city as I do. But maybe that's because I'm in the middle.

first Kendra was Gorgeous in that video.

secondly wow I am surprised that Joy admitted to struggling with her faith.

lastly  all the full frontal hugs which even with family for the Duggar's is rare to see this is one of the most genuine moments of the show.

I teared up. This really seems to be a genuine moment.

It really seems like Joe stepped up after the whole Josh scandal and I think that's great. Still I wonder how the siblings really about Smuggar now. JBoB und Michelle seem to want to introduce him back into the spotlight (at least on their IG account) and the kids still under their roof probably aren't allowed to have an opinion about that. But what do Jeremy or Ben think about him? Or Austin? And how do Kendra's parents feel about having him around the rehearsal dinner and the wedding? We'll probably never know, but this really makes me curious.

On what I bolded:   This "as many as the Lord gives" is crap because if they are infertile (one of the Bates girls IIRC?)  they go for fertility treatments, right?   So, is infertility a sign that God doesn't want you to have children?   Shouldn't you accept that with the same humble grace that you would have when you keep getting knocked up?

Yeah that's what I don't get too. I mean, I'm not a fan of hormonal birth control etc. either and want my contraception to be as natural as possible :D and in a perfect world with no financial/health issues, I'd be open to that idea, too (using no BC at all), but for myself, I wouldn't want fertility treatment (I haven't been in that situation yet though). The thought of having all of these examinations done, taking hormones and other medication, being so closely monitored and having doctors comment on my sex life and genitals all the time... And then it might not work the first few times. Health insurance might not pay for another try then or they might not pay at all because you can't find a reason for the infertility.

I chose the fertility awareness method to avoid hormones and being under the control of doctors etc., so I don't feel good about fertility treatments at all. So if there's a chance that I might conceive naturally, I'd rather wait for a few years to have a baby than go through all of this.

But idk, if you've been raised to be a mom and nothing else, infertility might be really really painful. And seeing all your quiverfull friends and sisters pushing out baby after baby (and even those that take ebil bc, live in "sexual immorality" etc. having kids and you, having done "everything right", not being rewarded by God with a child you really want)... maybe then that's more important than being consistent with "as many as the Lord gives".

I know of a devout Catholic couple (not fundie though, premarital sex and birth control where okay for them) that's really struggeling with their infertility and that God "withholds" a baby from them.

And then I have a fundie friend/more of an acquaintance that has been married for a while now, but they don't have kids yet and now they bought some new property with no room for kids though. I don't know that couple well enough to ask if they chose not to have kids (yet) though. But either that or infertility could have lead to her getting a job, because maybe (pure speculation) they can't have kids and they're looking for an alternative lifestyle now. Who knows?

That's the impression I get. I actually like Joe, I think he's my favorite Duggar son.

Things like this, I wish Counting On would be more in depth about. I know I would find that very interesting...and honest. But it won't happen, Counting On is not gonna go there.

Do you think that TLC tries to suggest more probing, in depth topics and they get shut down by the Duggars, or do they just know better by now and stick to the wholesome storylines because they know that's all the Duggars will agree to? Or do they not care at all because haircuts for a 2 yr old and moving bookcases is really where the money's at?

the one thing Joy is looking forward to is Gideon growing up and understanding the gospel.

That's really sad. She isn't looking forward to seeing what his personality is like? To teaching him to walk? To play ball with him like she used to do with her brothers?

I understand that teaching children about their faith is important to many folks. But I'd hope there would at least be other things tied for what they're most looking forward to...

They've had a formula that work$ for like 10+ years now. I'd imagine that limits it; their other shows follow the same tactic from what I've seen.

As of right now Michael Bates Keilen do not seem to be pursuing fertility treatment. Erin Bates Paine has injections to help her continue a pregnancy but she doesn't have trouble getting pregnant.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Erin was going for fertility treatments just that she was struggling with infertility.   I should have worded my comment better saying:   SOME going through infertility, would go for treatment.

My apologies for not being clearer.

Infertility can be really really painful even if you're raised in a culture or family where it's okay to not have children and you have a lot of other life goals. We just started going to an infertility specialist because I have a congenital abnormality in my uterus that might be treatable but might also cause problems with pregnancies. We haven't even been told we can't conceive and it's still painful to watch other people have easy, healthy pregnancies. With a fulfilling marriage, career, and hobbies it would still be crushing to me if we had more problems. I can't imagine how much more painful it would be if you thought God was punishing you for your actions.

That blanket is actually pretty cool. I would've tracked photos like that if I had it.

I don't get why they hastag their kids names though. No one cares lol.

Gideon looks like a very perturbed old man and I love it. Run, you cute little old man nugget! Run as soon as you have the muscles and coordination to do so! Take Davia Waller, your partner in Fundie Baby Side-Eye, along with you!

I've clicked on them before. not recently but around when Spurg was born. not really to see the pictures Jessa or ben put up but to see other random pictures that could be floating around.

finally watching the birth special a few things.

1. when Joy said Austin had been gracious with her about her emotions I was like WTF.

2.  Joy and Austin talking about how they were going to keep their baby name choices a secret so no one would give their opinion had me cracking up.

3. anyone should shove this video in Derick's face any time he says none of his family films with TLC anymore.

This is my BEC comment for the week. I hate when people put tiny babies in clothes like what Gideon is wearing for that picture. He’s only a month old! He should be in soft comfy cozy sleepers, not bulky looking jeans or...are they baby cargo pants? I don’t even know.

I know people complain about this a lot, but I honestly don't see the problem with those pants. Babies that age have to have their clothes changed pretty regularly, so likely he's in those pants for only a few hours at most. With my boys, I had a few outfits for pictures that were nicer than just a sleeper or onesie, and they were only worn once or twice just for those pictures. They did include pants like that. But, again, just for pictures and just for a short amount of time. Plus, even pants like that are super soft, in my experience, and usually lined with even softer fabric.

Gideon probably wore those pants for a little bit, and probably was fairly comfortable throughout.

Now, if this were one of those flouncy dresses with itchy tulle, I could see being annoyed, but it's just pants.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
