Joy and Austin 17: Staying Off the Internet

If I could say 1 thing to all these young,  rather immature, and inexperienced married couples:

"The road is long, with many a winding turns, good luck."

Can you imagine Joy and Austin's relationship in 20 years, when Joy is just 40?

Or 40 YO Jessa and 38 YO Ben? Lordy-

what shocked me is that Joy will be 40 - can you imagine she might have 19 children.

Run Forrest Forsyth, Run!

If Forest Forsyth marries Zoey Joy Webster when they grow up, I'll eat my hat.

I love these names.  I am naming something Forest Forsyth - what a name

So Joy posted to Insta yesterday.  Can I say I love that she posts absolutely NOTHING, its kind of a big fuck off I'm not your performing monkey.  She's not posting anything about her bump and she's not saying anything about baby, and its making people crazy.

It must be hard for Joy to post about her baby bump because every time she does people comment on how huge she is and how it must have been conceived before marriage. It must be really hard to receive those comments bc I’ve always gotten the feeling Joy isn’t the most comfortable in her body and now she probably feels even more self conscious.

If I were her I wouldnt post either, and give my mental health a rest.

i would like for them to post more about their house though

I'm also glad, because I can only take so many weird ass posts about how she's gestating a full-grown miniature man or whatever seventeenth century preformationism nonsense she believes

There seems to be a blackout on any 'new' news - the FB page is all old pictures.

So - is TLC telling them to keep a lid on things or did they figure out that they are boring and have nothing new to offer?

One of hubby's old aunts, after seeing  Zelda would always comment, "You can really tell who her father is.   She looks just like him".    It made me very angry to think she could ever think Zelda could be anyone else's baby.

Obviously I don't know his aunt, but just from that I wouldn't interpret it as her saying he might not be the father. I look like my dad and I've heard people say basically the same thing about us, and I've never thought they were meaning there was an actual question about paternity. It's just something people say. I've heard it said about moms too when a mother and child look a lot alike.

Yeah I've had people tell me "no question who's kid that is" when my daughter was a baby/toddler she was (and still is) a mini me.  My dark hair my, my olive skin, my apple cheeks, and round face, but she has hazel eyes and mine are brown. They would also say my son looked just like his dad, but with my nose, he's fair skinned with light brown hair & blue eyes, just like his father.

People who didn't know me well would ask if my kids have different fathers since they look NOTHING alike, and that pissed me off, I would say NO, he looks like his father she looks like me.  He still looks nothing like me, but she has her dads nose so it is much more obvious they are both my husbands.  They were two years apart in school, my son's senior year he was helping his sister take some stuff to a class and the teacher said something about oh you two going out? And both went EWWWW GROSS THATS MY BROTHER/SISTER the teacher was like OH (our last name, which is fairly common) she looked at them and said "I never would have guessed you two where siblings".

Yep. My daughter looks a lot like my husband and we've had people say "She's definitely Mr. Vineheart's child!" I've even said similar when she does something that reminds me of him (Seriously, my kid and my husband sneeze in the EXACT same way). I think it's a fairly common saying.

Of course, this is assuming the aunt doesn't have a history of saying offensive things!

But as soon as it's born, it will get air time and will be sold to help support its mother and father.

Joy will get an atta girl when her kids' lives are never sold for public consumption, by she and her husband.

The Duggar Ethos:

Avoid/Deny education

Refuse to work for a living or for anyone else

Have kid after kid and sell their lives, to support you

It should be illegal-

Geez, that's quite a personal question from someone who doesn't know you well!

Some random lady asked my cousin if one of her twins 'got burnt in the oven' because he has a darker complexion than his sister. People are ridiculous.

Where I'm from, the saying is "There's no denying he's the father," which makes it seem more benign, and less potentially accusatory (I could see where you'd think that with that wording).

GryffindorDisappointment looks JUST like her dad. Even now (although some people swear she's my twin - just 23 years apart... lol). I'm the spitting image of my dad.

I heard a theory once - and I have absolutely no idea about the scientific validity of it, but it made me laugh - that the firstborn tends to look a lot like his/her father so that he won't suspect some other dude of being the father and kill the child. I told my dad that once and he got a kick out of it. I definitely do look a lot like him. THANKFULLY?! :pb_lol:

I've actually read that this is statistically true.  Also that a mother's family is more likely to comment on the kids looking like dad.  Obviously if its true its just statistics, but it was interesting.

I've read that children typically look like their fathers until about age 2, and that it goes back to "caveman days" so the fathers could recognize their own children when they were all living communally.

I don't remember the source, but it was pre-Internet, so it must have been true. LOL

Whoa. My dad has blue eyes and I had blue eyes until I was... well, my mum told me they changed when I was about two, but they were still blue in the old home movies I was just watching from when I was 3. Actually, my eyes are still technically mostly blue, I guess. They just look brown. But they're hazel? I don't know, I've given up trying to figure it out. But maybe they were Definitely Blue until I was about two so that my dad didn't kill me.

Joy and Austin don't seem the type to always post on social media, the way the Dillard's and Sewald's do but I do think they will feature on the show but not all the time.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
