Jinger 33: Beauty: By God!

Coconut Flan

Hang on, Chip and Joanna Gaines have a cupcake bakery, too? The Magnolia Bakery I know about is the NYC now-chain that showed up in Sex in the City at the beginning of the cupcake craze. Not the same as the Gaines ' s Magnolia Market. And yes, I think their decorating taste is awful and I hate shiplap. They cover 1920s plaster niches up with shiplap. I did see a lady walking around in a #shiplap t-shirt one day. Classy!

I think she’s very far down the path to or already at the ‘conservative Christian’ stop on the sliding scale of Christianity.  She reminds me of several people I know that attended Baylor. No, she doesn’t work, and she still dresses pretty conservative, but she’s obviously embraced quite a bit of secular culture.  Not sure she’ll ever make it out of the one issue (abortion) voter mentality or to not taking a hardcore stance that LGBT are going to hell, but she may show some wiggle room on being a broodmare for Jesus and strictly homeschooling til high school.

Yes! That'd be a start, imo. At least they'd be showing a little respect for human life by not having more kids than they can properly parent.

I wonder how she'd handle sending her kids to school. Would she join the PTA? Do you think she'd be the mom who brings all the kids orange slices after their soccer games?

I’m reasonably confident any future offspring will play soccer until they decide they don’t want to play or they have eleventy children back to back to back.  After raising children, I think she’d make a wonderful soccer mom and PTA member, even if she is the mom you avoid around election season.

@SamiKatz, I don't hate all shiplap.  It has its place which, IMO, is on  walls in coastal New England homes.  Got a cottage on the coast of Maine or Nantucket?  Shiplap is appropriate for those homes.  A ranch house in Waco? Nope.  You not have found it it those houses.

So, Jinger and Jeremy are OBSESSED with themselves! Look at us - we play so cutely in the miracle-from-God snow although we grew up in Arkansas and Pennsylvania.

Look at me - I pretend to read a newspaper while sipping coffee because I'm so adorable.

Look at me in pants!

Just, grow up!

Isn't this the point of Instragram when you're a public figure? Or even just a regular person?

I don't disagree, but I'm not mad at them for it, if you're going to run an instagram as celebrity, please be as extra as possible :D

They also went to see a Christmas Carol in Dallas, so didn't attend the Bates wedding, but I don't think that's particularly odd. With so many kids, it's unlikely that they're all super close.

And the Vuolos' offspring will not be born on the marital bed.

The super staged photos get an eye roll from me. People not on a reality show my age do this too, I know (I'm 25). But it's not really my style. If I'm in a place I want to remember or doing a fun activity, sure, photos are fun to remember. My SO and I participated in a Christmas light boat parade last night and I was sure to have someone get a photo of us together on the boat before the sun went down. But a photo of just me by myself sitting in a random chair in a lobby or something, nah.

I can hear it now... "Okay, sit down in this lobby. Turn your head like you're looking that way. Close your eyes. No wait, open them. Perfect." Blah.

Ha, this is exactly how I have to instruct Hubs before pictures. Esp. if he is taking pictures of me. That man seriously can NOT take a picture (and make it look good) to save his life.

I'm a millennial and I have a lot of friends who do the staged photo thing on their social media. I don't mind it, really. I don't really do it because I just don't have the patience, though I do take lots of pictures of pretty platings at restaurants or stuff I bake. As long as you're not doing stupid shit like taking photos on train tracks (because nothing spices up a photo shoot like giving a train conductor PTSD as he helplessly crushes you beneath his wheels) or letting your food go cold because you take too long to set up a shot, whatever, it's your Insta.

You're not the only one!

Fixer Upper is only ever on the TV in passing and while I might glance at it, can't say I've ever watched a full episode, or even half of one!

Animals in general, feminism, death/morbid fascination stuff, fundies, sexy stuff, and the occasional actual friend for me ;)

I honestly love Instagram. It's a lot less addictive for me than other social media has been.

On the JoKen thread most people were pretty much like "A Duggar pregnancy, nothing new, yawn." But I do think whenever Jinger announces, that will be one Duggar pregnancy that will still get people around here riled up.

Jeremy and Jinger...

Jeremy, not a Gothardite.

Jeremy's family- 3 kids, preacher father

Jinger- wanted to live in a big city...never seemed overly invested in any buddy or buddy group.

I think they are using  some form of BC- and if it's NFP, they are skilled at it.

I think he's convinced her that you can be a faithful, decent, Jesus loving Christian, without birthing an army for Jesus.

If so, GREAT!

No one should feel compelled to push person after person out of their lady parts, or having to support and raise said persons, in order to secure a place in heaven.

Also, Jinger has said that attending births "isn't her thing," and I think I remember her saying something (or implying) low pain tolerance, and fear of the birthing process. I'm not saying she'll never have kids, she just might not be ready, and Jeremy's fine with that.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
