Given the head coverings in the bridal party and the juxtaposition of the chuck environment, my best guess is Brethren with ties to the local Mennonite sects as well. I've seen a lot of plain people appropriation by fundies before and I've never seen them nail all of the subtle markers that say plain to the trained eye.

Thanks.  That is an excellent site.

I suppose I'm surprised that they hired Christopher but I get the impression he doesn't charge a lot.  I'm not surprised Christopher took the job because his wedding photography skills don't seem in much demand.

I also hope Christopher kept his mouth shut and did not ask them if they know where they are going when they die.

Was it Nathan's funeral  wedding when they live-streamed Steve's sermon about DEATH or Christopher's?  On second thought, it's probably both and Joseph's too.

Christopher's. Wasn't around during the Yuku days. I have no intention of watching any Maxwell video (featuring Steve) ever, let alone one all about one of his favourite subjects. (I said Steve in brackets because I did watch one Young Presenters video featuring Abby, Bethany and Tina once.)

Oh, Christopher, honey. I know that you're all about that photojournalistic style thing, but you're covering a wedding, not war in the Middle East. LIGHTEN UP! Literally...

Did they ever do more than just one? I remember them hyping that up - like I still recognize the title "Young Presenters" - but I don't remember seeing any additional videos after the first one, which they said was going to be part of an ongoing thing.

I would guess that MOTH is well known in many conservative anabaptist homeschooling circles. They may have sought him out for photography because of the connection.

I don't see their materials currently distributed by Rod and Staff nor Christian Light Publications but I know there was a time when both did distribute Maxwell materials. I'm not fond or walking back down those memory lanes to seek out what is prompted in the anabaptist and conservative homeschooling circles these days. But I first learned of MOTH in those circles alongside Pearl and Sheparding a Child's Heart.

In fact, I attended an Engaged Encounter at Bethany Seminary and Maxwell materials were in the library where we did our classes all day.

My daughter who does photography as a hobby, shot my brother in laws wedding for him. They ordered almost everything in their wedding from the dress, tuxedo, Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny accessories from E-Bay. They were just let's say cheap.

The pictures she took, at the wedding and the reception, were far better than anything I've seen on Chris' website. She sent them the thumb drive with the wedding on it and they were thrilled.

While I do understand that lots of IFB individuals do appropriate the culture of plain people, that wedding is not a cultural appropriation. It is a wedding of Plain people. Identifying them as plain is more than their head coverings. It's their clothing, their hair, the colors of the wedding and even the mannerisms seen in the photography.

Mennoworld is a great resource for all things anabaptist from an insider's perspective.

I didn't know that fundies dressing plainly was cultural appropriation, but now that I think about it I see that it is more than just choosing to also dress plainly for similar reasons, and goes to the extent of trying to be identified as a similar sort of group to them, i.e. brand misuse.  I'd never really thought about that before, so thanks for pointing that out.  (I also wasn't aware of the designation 'Plain people' before.  I don't think they're as common here, though I have seen some Brethren in recent times, so there's clearly some.)

Coward Steve's birthday recap.  He got a special breakfast and dinner, plus a serenade from Crazy Eyed Nate's kids.  Gag me with a spoon.

It's not an event when you all live within a mile and see each other all the damn time. Its just another day with pie and cooking outside...

Steve's birthday was, of course, special time with the family.

Same shit, different day. Everything the Maxwells do is 'special family time' because they have no other times.

Colorado coming up - can't wait for the chipmunk feeding, 14ers, 3 am climbs....again, same trip, different year.

I think a Maxwell would fall over dead if they did anything different, ever. Actually, I don't think any of them is capable of doing anything different.

Imagine if there was what some may call a vacation in, say, New York City or Yellowstone or Disneyworld. There would be Maxwell brains far & wide from their heads exploding.

I suspect that mission trip's goal was to find someone a marriage prospect, so my best guess is that we won't see many pictures as missionicating in mixed groups of unrelated people is not one of the officially steve-sanctioned permissible activities.

With Chris's frumper fettish, he must think he is on the set of a porn film at these weddings with all these maidens in their frumpers.

Why am I not surprised that Christopher starts off every wedding album with a photo of the church?? I also find it funny that he gives tips for amateur photographers :pb_lol::pb_lol::pb_lol:

Any professional photographer worth his or her Kodachrome would laugh themselves silly at his artistic "efforts."

Now, a pic of either of the churches in which I was married would have been nice--one was a traditional white New England Victorian chapel (but the wedding was in the evening and it started to rain as we arrived) and the other was a brownstone Edwardian-era one with Tiffany windows (but it was raining cats and dogs that day, too). But I'm sure Christopher would have managed to make them both look like bleak shells in need of the wrecking ball.

That's a possibility. The final part of Colorado with the Moodys mentions that Mollie is engaged to a missionary wannabe called Lucas and that she'll be moving to Africa. I highly doubt any sort of move away from Leavenworth KS would be sanctioned though.

I have a new theory: The Maxwells are ghosts- just like Professor Binns from Harry Potter (the professor who taught History of Magic, he fell asleep one day and his ghost got up and kept teaching). So the Maxwells are dead and their ghosts are stuck in this cycle of repeating the same things they did on their last day on earth (reading the bible, praying, cleaning and eating meatless bean burritos. It completely explains why nothing ever changes in Maxhell.

Speaking of mission trips, did we ever figure out where John (was it John? Or Joseph?) went a few years ago?

In French we say "mariage pluvieux, mariage heureux" - "rainy wedding, happy marriage". Hope it's true in your case! :)

Well...not exactly. Both marriages ended in divorce, and both grooms have since died. (I tell people that this is why I don't date--it's for the guys' own good.)
