All I can say is that I think it's good that he is a part of their lives and seems to be supportive. He attends birthday parties and holidays and keeps in touch.

Reputable sperm banks. There have definitely been some cases of over used sperm donors.

I remember there being a story a few years back about a sperm donor who was bypassing the sperm banks and dealing with the women directly, and that he would post the videos of him providing the material on PornHub.  He would then send the cup with the sample to the woman.

Quite frankly it doesn't surprise me all that much that he came from an insular Orthodox community. Just like any extremist group they have their sexual oddballs, and unfortunately I met a lot of Orthodox and Hasidic men during my college years who were "kosher from the waist up". They figured I was safe meat because I wasn't Jewish, merely contemplating conversion. Thankfully I kept my bearings most of the time but still I heard and experienced a lot of craziness from these guys.
