Is she serious???

Lori:

We watched the Duggar Family show last night about one of the daughters getting married. I told Ken that this show has so much purity and God-honoring words and actions in it. It is wonderful to watch. Each one of those children are a blessing and I love how much they value having babies. You know that as soon as they get married, they will most likely be having babies since they don’t prevent them but welcome them, instead.

I mean really.  What planet is she living on?

And her Instagram has yet another ridiculously expensive kitchen gadget.  Because she's moderate, you know.

Lori saying they should hang around church more until everyone gone is really a way for her to get more gossip from people. Welcome new people in her world means to size them up and then write a blog post about them.  What do you want to bet we start seeing a lot more post that starts of "After church this past Sunday I spoke with........"

@AlwaysDiscerning- Yep.  She's on a fishing expedition for more blog fodder.  She might also be looking for more people to "mentor", and a chance to spread her "message" without the church noticing what she's up to.

Lori is the kind of Aunt that isn't ACTUALLY an Aunt, but she keeps dressing in brown and showing up at the Rachel and Leah center anyway, attempting to "help reform women" until she is once again escorted back to Ken. Aka even in a society of nuts, she's an absolute nutter.

She's really an econo-wife, but she can't admit that so she masquerades as someone with more prestige.

See, if (hopefully not when!) the Republicans manage to get their Gilead, I see Aunt Lori as the first to volunteer to be an Aunt because she loves pushing her viewpoint on the vulnerable. She'd love a job where she has complete control over someone like that.

She's evil and fuck her in particular.

Edit: and now I can't remember, do Aunts have to be unmarried / widowed? Even if they can't be married, I swear to the gods when I read the book and they were talking about Aunt Lydia I went, "Holy shit, that's Lori!"

Brian H. replied to Ken: "

Hi Ken, thank you for graciously taking the time to reply.

Actually my wife and I are firstborns with stronger personalities but an even stronger drive to love, honor, cherish, and esteem each other high than ourselves, so it’s worked quite well for us. Dying to self is a wonderful and essential thing for any Christian to learn, and it sure makes marriages a happier place

“The test will come when you do get that job where you feel strongly you must move and she does not..”

That actually happened, right after the birth of our 5th child, which was a very rough time for my wife. We had an opportunity to move to a better (moneywise) situation. A few honest discussions with my wife later and she revealed that she was very apprehensive about moving such a far distance because we would be losing our support group and the help of my parents with the kids, and she just honestly felt she couldn’t handle it at that season in her life. We prayed and discussed for a week, then I decided to turn down the offer in order to make sure my wife was better cared for and supported. It wasn’t worth it to me to yank her 1000 miles away to a new area with no support or help while recovering from a difficult experience and wrangling four other kids under the age of ten. I had complete peace about the decision and my construction business started taking off in earnest that summer. God blessed us.

“or she wants your daughter to marry a man that you simply cannot support. ”

We have unified goals about the kind of people we hope our children will marry. We always have. Also, our policy is that we do not pick our children’s spouses for them. We will advise, and pray, and offer as much wisdom and counsel as we can, but our adult children will not be our property. We are raising them in the Lord and are trusting that they will chose wisely. Should our adult children marry someone we cannot get behind, we have no control over that, but will continue to love and pray for wisdom and understanding the best we can.

Thank you again for the discussion."

So not even a real Aunt, but a wannabe Aunt.  Yeah, I could see that, an econowife desperately grasping at any authority and/or status that she can get.

I invite Lori and Ken to visit an orphanage, a maternity hospital, and a slum in a developing country. Maybe try living on $1 per day with a family with 10 children. With God, nothing is impossible.

Well said, @Joyce

Oh my, wonder what Ken will reply to that...

Imagine that, Ken, no need to control your adult children!

All that talk about disciplining them when they are little so they will walk the narrow-and-straight when they are older,  but they still can't trust them to make wise decisions and ask them for counsel when they need it. No. It's control, control, control.

Someday I half expect to see a "doodle" from Lori waxing poetic about being wives being called to be spiritual bunions - you know, because we are the ones everybody else stood on and in Bible times they all wore sandals, and wouldn't they all have bunions?  And she is now even more spiritual because she wore sandals all summer and now has a bunion (praise God!).  And it's all meant to reveal new levels of submission and silence; because somebody has to be the bunion of the body of Christ.

For the love of whatever you hold holy/unholy, don't give her ideas!  :pb_lol:

@EowynW I think I rather like this Brian H - and he's managing to show that what Loriken say they are preaching, and the reality of it, are very different. Good on him - and he's managed not to be banned yet, despite very gently educating them and their readers in the reality of a good marriage, and good parenting!

No you idiot, God didn't say it. Paul said it and he was addressing specific situations in a certain church. Study the actually historical texts you fool.

Can I just say that it is giving me a happy thrill to see all the pride flags as reactions to Aunt Lori's Facebook posts?

And I know I'm late to the party, but wanted to note that this back-slid Lutheran is pretty sure that a whole lot of the Old Testament pointed to Christ, starting from Genesis 3- "He shall crush your head and you shall strike his heel".

LoriKen's "Law or Grace" dichotomy is bullshit. They say that we are under grace (which I believe we are), but want to be INSANELY legalistic regarding things that Jesus  (y'know, THE SON OF GOD) never talked about. What's more, they want to ignore the teachings of Jesus entirely.

Does she even know what they mean? :pb_lol:

And does she know the past controversy over whether Paul even wrote The Timothy epistles? Most theological scholars today think not - to the point it's not even that controversial any more.

Here's a rainbow for Lori from Genesis 9:13:

Quote

I do set my rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

A Christian author and leader of a ministry that equips women in ministry posted a heartbreaking blog post today to announce that she is divorcing her husband due to his infidelity. I expect Lori to latch onto the news and gleefully write a post explaining how it's all this woman's own fault for writing and being in ministry instead of being at home.
