I guess my sense of humor is broken, because watching those two segments was painful. Yikes. I kept waiting on the funny part and it never got there. :(

Different people have different tastes. I didn't like The Office until I had watched probably the entire first season and part of the second, and now it's my favourite show. Same with Parks & Rec. On the other hand, I absolutely hate Arrested Development and Game of Thrones, which everyone else seems to love. No big deal. Just don't watch it.

LOL - I've never watched any of the shows you mentioned... :)

One of the reasons pop culture trivia always stumps me. lol  And why some (most?) Facebook posts go right over my head...

Arrested Development is another one that you have to give it a few episodes. The characters are hilarious. Did you get to the episodes with Lucille 2? The Office is my all time favorite too!

I gave it like half the first season before I gave up. But I actually lied outrageously in my previous post - I didn't hate Arrested Development at all, I was just underwhelmed by it. I'd definitely give it another chance. Game of Thrones... not so much.

I've been avoiding this thread because I don't like Amy all that much, but I was bored so I went ahead and opened it...

... and was delighted to find it was mostly quotes from my favorite episode of The Office.

Jan: The Osso Buco needs to braise for about three hours. Everything else is done.

Pam: Three hours from now, or three hours from earlier, like 4:00?

(which isn't a massive problem in GOT because people don't stay dead.)

I have to be careful because I have a serious binge watch problem.  On spring break during grad school I watch the entire lost series.  I'm mean full on maybe showered here or there.  Alternated pizza places to avoid embarrassment and scheduled the dog waker for extra walks.  Thank God it ended or I would have needed an intervention.  Series for me are like Ben and Jerrys....all or nothing.  Orange is the new black.... done the week it came out . Walking dead same thing.  I won't touch game of thrones, house of Cards or parks and rec because I know it's a slippery slope. Ugh

I did that with the Affair Season 1 and 2 and Revenge season 1

Game of Thrones is like Fargo- almost everyone dies (but you're right, GOT does resurrect a few people).

Apparently more than 70% of the named GOT characters have died. http://www.newsweek.com/game-thrones-deaths-more-70-characters-have-perished-westeros-628537

Two words the article forgot when mentioning those who have been re-animated: Franken-Mountain! Cersei needs some help at Kings' Landing, y'all!

You have to admire the fact that Martin and then the producers stick to killing off so many named and beloved characters. Life is messy and not everyone gets a happy ending, especially in a medieval-type world torn apart by war. It's nice to see a book series that reflects that reality.

(One of the things I disliked about Hary Potter was that the core characters - meaning Harry, Hermione, and Ron - make it out alive. I love all those characters, but given the dangers and odds they faced it almost seems unrealistic none of them died for good... that said, I also understand they're mainly written with a younger audience in mind and that other important characters did die. So I can't really complain or hold it against that series the way I would hold it against GOT if Martin took the same approach.)

Ugh. I hate Rowling the tiniest bit for Hedwig's death. It needed to happen because she was his first and most consistent link to the magical world... but still... YOU DON'T MESS WITH PEOPLE'S PETS JO!!!!

... I'm not crying at that last one...

... ok... maybe I'm crying just a little... Don't judge me!!!

ETA: Don't get attached to any of the characters on GOT. Seriously. I made that mistake at first and I learned very quickly not to. :pb_lol:

JK Rowling considered killing off Ron earlier in the series when she was in a dark place.

Yeah, and Fred and Tonks and Lupin and Dumbledore. And Dobby. Oh god, Dobby. :(

But I seriously shed tears over Hedwig and Fred.

Nope. I don't think it's going to be released this year.

He has to finish it this year before it could be released at all.  I'm not holding my breath.  He seems to be getting distracted by other projects (such as HBO spin-offs).
