I am a Midwestern Lutheran, and you can pry my casserole out of my cold dead hands! :) My mother did not like to cook, and tater tot casserole was on the menu at least twice a month when I was growing up. HOWEVER, she threw in a quart of home-canned green beans, so it was marginally more healthful.

I wear pants and skirts (knee-length, not denim frumpers) about the same amount. Shorts are a no go for me- I've got a rough body for shorts.

Medicated hospital births for the win!

And I've got the Mirena IUD, currently, but would be happiest with a uterinectomy.

@TeddyBonkers I think I love you! rough body for shorts for the win!  My legs are virtually transparent and add some spider veins to the mix and it's really not pretty.  I wear tights in winter and hose in summer.  I want to do a spray tan but I'm just not sure.

Ways I'm fundie:

I have a lot of children*

I homeschool

I like casseroles, too!

I like cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, canning and other housewifely arts.

My kids do a lot of chores and help out with siblings

Ways I'm not fundie:

Reject purity culture in whole

Not every aspect of our life revolves around our faith or has to be faith based. Sometimes we do stuff just for fun.

Don't attend church even though I am Christian.

Teach respect for science and don't use creationist curriculum

School is a priority and I put in a lot of time and money into doing it right.

Wear pants the majority of the time. Skinny ones even!

Don't require my children to obey immediately or be beaten

Don't require my children to raise their siblings or be overburdened with work

*"A lot" is relative. I have 4. For some that is a crowd, others it's just the starter kit ☺

I know bermuda shorts are conservative. I just don't like daisy dukes because I hate shaving far up my thighs. Oh and I almost converted to Catholic when I found out Mass is only 1 hour. Grew up baptist and they will hold you hostage if the "spirit" is strong, especially on "1st" Sundays.

Fundie:

I show complete confidence in conclusions that I have pulled out of my butt

I like babies (of all species though)

I cover much of my body up (fair skin, don't want to spend hours applying sunscreen)

Non-Fundie:

Everything else

Fundie:

  • I think it's a generally good idea for churches to keep families together if possible.
  • I would homeschool my kids if i had any.
  • I don't do casual relationships.
  • I've read a fair bit of Rushdoony and Francis Schaeffer
  • I'm not allowed to play videogames or watch TV.

Non-Fundie:

  • I spend a lot of time watching other people play videogames
  • It doesn't count as TV if I'm not watching it on a TV, right? ;) (hey look at my Westworld avatar)
  • #SuperCorp OTP
  • I snark on fundies on FJ a lot
  • Accepted chemotherapy instead of trying 'natural' cancer remedies or whatever
  • I read quite a few very 'worldly' sci-fi novels.
  • I read a lot of fanfiction.  And write some.
  • I'm rather interested in, and watch a fair amount of Magic the Gathering

Fundie:

  • I wear a lot of dresses (from Lularoe, no doubt)
  • I cook my own food and complain about eating out because it's usually not as good. If it is, it's really expensive and we are out of state. Or it's pizza. I haven't perfected the homemade pizza yet.
  • I don't use a microwave at home
  • I believe that it's important to eat well and exercise
  • I would homeschool if I had kids and they didn't want to do sports
  • I follow free range parenting blogs and think that there should be a balance of freedom and independence with current safety standards. I believe that we are too litigious and that has serious ramifications on our children's development and independence.
  • I'm OK with hunting for food, and using all of the animal (that is possible) is the best way to do it. I would love to get a bear skin blanket rug, my boss has one and I am jealous.
  • I love supernatural elements in my fiction.

Not Fundie:

  • I wear short running shorts pretty much every day in the summer. Short.
  • I work out in said shorts and a sports bra. Sometimes I do sprint triathlons in just a pair of shorts and a bra.
  • I drink alcohol. A lot of it.
  • I think the idea of dominion over the earth is just an excuse for assholes to be selfish and not recycle or even pick up their own litter.
  • I do not like hunting for sport. Shoot clay pigeons or go to the range and practice on moving targets if that's your jam. Shooting an animal to mount it is stupid and wasteful.
  • I voted for Bernie Sanders and I would do it again. Democratic Socialism is progressive.
  • I read novels. I like them.
  • I treat my cat like he's part of the family because he is.
  • I am not married and not a virgin.
  • I don't go to church.
  • I do not eat tater tots but once a year or so (there is a restaurant here that serves them. We went for the first time in about a year. I ordered my sandwich with tater tots. I then told the partner that I should have ordered the fries. He reminded me that I say that every time.)
  • We are in an egalitarian relationship.  We both cook, but he cooks more often. We do the laundry together. We both sweep the floors and feed the cat and clean the bathroom when it's dirty. (I clean the bathroom more.) We support each other at major races. He carries stuff for me and is at the finish line with a coke or a beer for me. I do the same for him and his mountain running.
  • I play video games and I'm a girl. Not just candy crush, either.
  • I work, and not from home. My boss is a female. (So am I.)
  • A million other things.

Fundie:

I wear skirts, maxi skirts almost all the time (with either sandals or flip flops most of the time)

We belong to and attend a "liberal" IFB church and are pretty active in our church

I did homeschool (kids are grown and gone now)

I usually cook from scratch

I have made my own clothes (I enjoy it!)

Non-Fundie:

I smoke, drink, dance and listen to GOOD music (classic rock)

I cuss like the sailor's wife I am

I used to work full time and made more money than hubby.

I still work part time now teaching MEN!

I like to watch pretty violent movies (Lethal Weapon 1-4, etc)

I read Clive Cussler (Dirk Pitt) and Tom Clancy (Jack Ryan) novels

I HATE contemporary Christian music (with a bloody blue passion)

Used birth control until the crib got removed

Addicted to the Science Channel

Currently watching The DaVinci Code (not that I believe any of it but I love Tom Hanks)

Hmmm, let me think

Fundie:

  • Love to cook, great at it, from scratch, using freah ingredients, nearly every night (except for take out Chinese sometimes)
  • I used to make my own clothes  (really good at it), Also know how to knit, embroider, needlepoint, darn socks, mend clothes, sew on buttons, etc.
  • Wear skirts and dresses
  • Pretty crafty -- make wreaths, arrange flowers. do tablescapes, make decorative pillows, etc
  • Keep a neat, clean house, more or less organized. Not up to Erica's standards though.
  • Married
  • Believe in God

Not Fundie:

  • Catholic
  • No children
  • Egalitarian marriage. Mr Dress is a wizard with the vacuum cleaner and since I cook, he cleans the kitchen. Everything else we do together. I clean the bathrooms though -- because well .... um ... men
  • Feminist
  • Believe in sex education and believe that BC and when or if to have children is a personal decision for everyone (my personal beliefs don't govern other people)
  • Work full time, always have - not at home
  • Attended public school, state university, state grad school
  • Drink
  • Did not cure my cancer with essential oils (surgery and radiation for the win!!)

  • Curse, although I try not to
  • Read all the time -- even (gasp) wordly novels
  • Pretty much everything else that isn't fundie

Fundie:

  • Still a virgin, in my twenties (Im not super interested in sex, maybe if I met the right person, but its not particularly a need)
  • Between the age of 3-8, I wore nothing but the kind of dresses that the Duggar girls used to wear in the early episodes, and again when I was about 18-19 and wore skirts with leggings because I found them more comfortable (although I now found some comfy, soft pants with pockets, and bought a large amount of the exact same pair)
  • I don't drink
  • Very long curly hair
  • I have a lot of siblings, and was raised fairly poor in a tiny house, on the same kind of bland lazy meals the Duggars eat.
  • Actually a sister mom (now for real, because our mother died).
  • Would like a large family.
  • I cover my legs most of the time (because I am too lazy to shave and not confident enough to show off hairy legs).
  • I am wearing a rather low cut tshirt, with a long sleeved top underneath-not for modesty, but because I am always cold and prefer layers.
  • I like pickles

Not Fundie:

  • Lesbian
  • Atheist
  • Liberal
  • Feminist
  • Pro choice, and support affordable birth control and sex ed, as well as access to safe abortion.
  • I encourage my little sibling-children to like whatever they like, we don't do stereotypes. Youngest little sister-child dresses entirely in boy's clothing and plays with cars and dinosaurs, and that is fine. Whether she is cis and gender nonconforming, non binary or trans, its fine by me.
  • Erika Shupe would be horrified if she saw how I ate jellybeans.
  • I don't like guns and think the use of them should be more restricted.
  • I have friends who are Muslim and LGBT.

Egalitarian marriage; Late husband did all of the cooking, most other chores were shared.  Equal in all ways.

Let's talk about the big ass bow Suri Holmes is wearing in her 11th bday pic. Wait...is her dad even considered a fundie scientologist?? Well, I assume her mom is not raising her with scientology beliefs. But Suri has been spotted with these big, colorfull bows in her hair. Non fundie, using fundie accessories??

Hahahaha I love this idea.

Fundie:

  • I like the long hair/cardigan/statement necklace/skirt look.
  • I married before 25
  • I stayed at home to go to college so that I didn't have to take on student loans (semi-fundie I guess)
  • I want to be a stay at home homeschooling mom to 3-4 kids (non-fundie: stopping there)
  • DH and I live debt-free (but when we buy a house we'll take on a mortgage, not Maxwelling it)
  • I think it's OK to help your kids out with housing (ala the Duggars) when they're starting out as long as you're not otherwise babying or controlling them

Non-fundie:

  • College-educated
  • Have an IUD and want abortion freely accessible
  • I have my own benefited full-time job
  • Admit my own bisexuality
  • I cook consciously from scratch and eat intuitively

Fundie

  • I love children (currently have 3 and am cut off. If we were rollin' in the money I would have many more!)
  • I homeschool (though I'm an educated teacher and have worked in the public school system for many, many years. I take education very seriously. I also don't view homeschool as an end all be all. It works for now, but if we moved to a better area I would be more then willing to put my children in PS).
  • I don't wear shorts or two-piece swimsuits (thank you blessed children for ruining my body)
  • Attend church
  • I monitor what my children watch and limit their screen times.
  • My husband and I both value a close knit family. We try hard to schedule family game nights/outings. We also try to eat all together at the dinner table regularly.
  • We are frugal- kind of have to be when we are only on one income.
  • I don't like debt. The only debt we have is our mortgage.
  • I don't drink or smoke (have in the past when I was younger, but it's no longer my jam)

Non-Fundie

  • I wear skinny jeans or yoga pants daily. I think I own 1 dress.
  • I also wear closed toed shoes daily too (ha!)
  • My hair is often up in a messy bun. Sorry, no flowing curls for me.
  • My husband and I love dark humor. We are also pretty drawn to crime/detective type shows.
  • I was not a virgin when I was married.
  • I use birth control.
  • My husband does not expect me to be submissive, nor will I be.
  • My husband does all the cooking, but to be fair I do most of the cleaning. Equal partnership here.
  • I can cuss like a sailor (when little ears aren't listening)
  • The beast hangs proudly on my living room wall.
  • I hope all my children go to college.
  • I expect my children to be adults and move out on their own, even if they aren't in relationships or married (though as a side- I'm not kicking them out when they are 18. I just don't expect my 30 year old to still be living at home).
  • I hope my daughters will be get jobs that fulfill them. If they want to stay home when they have children, I will support/encourage them, if they want to have a career when they have children, I will support them with that as well. I did both in their short lives already. Neither is right or wrong.
  • My kids participate in sports. It's good and healthy for them.

I'm sure there is more, but the list would probably go on and on. This was fun. Thanks OP for starting this thread.
