They got to speak to God directly, and Cain still turned out badly. It's like there is no perfect way to train children, they have minds of their own or something.

They don't list all of their children (including the oldest), just those still in the family band. I believe their oldest could make this story fit?! I'm not entirely sure though. Interesting to note, their oldest (a dughter) has her own family now and has thankfully gone in the complete opposite direction.
