They can work it until the years pass and that flowing blonde hair goes and they're not cute anymore.   Then I'd like to hear from them.

With a blooper reel at the end. Are they hip or what?

Created equal but purposefully different. But still the male must be "encouraged" to lead.

My brain is weeping.

Okay, the speech teacher in me wants to tie up their hands. You can't be gesturing nonstop like that when your hands are not quite in the shot. It becomes distracting. You end up concentrating on their hands whipping on and off the screen.

But, then again, maybe it is good if people watching this are distracted from their warped message.

For some reason, the picture for the above video reminds me of the song by Hole, "I Think That I Would Die":

"She lost all her innocence
Gave it to an abscess
She lost all her innocence
She said, "I am not a feminist"

It's not yours - fuck you!"

(I laugh to myself when I think of the words Fundie & Courtney Love in the same sentence. Can you just imagine the interaction between Courtney & one of our Fundie Families?)  ;)

Not yet having clicked on the video... is one of the reasons "we benefit from privilege in an astonishing number of ways and it's in our best interest to retain 'traditional' American values" ?  Gosh, I hope so. Surely they are educated, enlightened, and honest with themselves, right?

I love how most of their comments are full of the "rational" MRA/redpill types. They're vehemently atheist and anti-religion until some dunderhead agrees with their anti-feminism stance. These women don't have a clue about anything they're talking about- they're just parroting lines they've read and heard elsewhere. They couldn't define "patriarchy" if their lives depended on it.

I tried to watch it, but it's ridiculous - building a fake picture of feminism ("it's a religion!") that's got no inks to reality, so they can knock it down.

It would be so easy to take them down. I didn't get too far, but I did make it to "feminism is a religion" because the word ends in "ism". Hmm...their sort typically loves capitalism. Is it a religion?

I assume that if confronted with the lack of logic in their arguments, they would respond as one of my co-workers at Christian school always did when people pointed out the enormous craters in her logic: she would say "well" with a big sigh and leave the room.

Lucky for them God doesn't seem to have a problem with bleaching your hair.

I am going to admit straight up that I just bought the book.  I know it's giving them $$$, but I'm just curious as to what they have to say.

Whew, that was hard to watch. My only concern is that the poor, chronically under educated SAHDs this shit is aimed at will probably think their straw man is real feminism.

Also, I laughed out loud listening to them labor over the plight of the "littlest women."

I tried to watch it, and wow. I have no words. I did make it to "it's an -ism so it's a religion"-bit and just rolled my eyes.

And all the hand movements and nodding, I couldn't concentrate (if I wanted to...) on what they actually said.

This is from the Onion, right.  RIGHT?

Where is the bible are these gender roles spelled out clearly?  Just curious.

I maybe got 3 minutes into it because of the gestures becoming way too distracting. At some point, they're going to be in for a shock when the cute routine no longer works.

As someone who gesticulates a LOT naturally (my friend in Kindergarten wrote in her "journal" that I had my own sign language) how do I reduce it and communicate better.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to take speech in school, is toast masters any good in your opinion?

@freedom_for_all a lot of it is about awareness. Practice speaking in front of a mirror. One trick is to hold something small in your hand to help you remember. Another is to periodically clasp your hands in front or behind yourself for a few moments to give your audience a break. This might sound counter intuitive, but planned gestures can be a big help. Know you are going to trace a line on a graph here, gesture emphatically there, mark your points with numbers, etc... These planned movements are better for your audience because they actually help illuminate your structure or point, and they cut down on extraneous movements.

I would give the same advice BackseatMom did. Planning and practicing appropriate gestures actually helps. Practicing in front of a full length mirror so you can see your hands helps, too. I also recommended that for my kids who struggled with eye contact--if you practice in front of the mirror and aren't seeing yourself, you are too buried in your script/cards and need to a)know your speech better and b ) work on eye contact. If you are practicing in front of a mirror, you will also see if your hands are becoming distracting or if your gestures look natural.

This article has some good advice about gestures: http://www.speaking-tips.com/Articles/Hand-Gestures.aspx

Literally LOL'd at the 'back in the long ago, feminists used to hate porn but now they all strip and shake their bodies around for everyone to see and they like it now and it's BAAAAAD!'

1) Lots of feminists and women and feminist women hate porn because they feel it's damaging to women and they wear modest clothing that they don't strip off in public or ever.

2) Lots of feminists and women and feminist women are the opposite.

It's not a religion, it's a choice!
