What a fuck face.  Really, Cheeto?  What the fuck are future Presidents going to fly?

Trump thinks that all of our future presidents will be members of the Trump family.

Well, our next president, Ivanka Trump, will use Daddy's 757 as will the following president, Erik Trump. After all, the Groper in Chief will be the best president ever!

Now, I need to turn off my sarcasm and stop hurling.

Sorry, quoted before I turned the page.

Do they not think that doing this just may put people out of a job?! Or does he not really care? Or will he try to make some other "deal" to lower the cost?

The stupidity is astounding.:annoyed:

The good news is that Micheal G. Flynn, Michael Flynn's son, has been "pushed off" the transition team, so I guess his .gov email account has been quietly deactivated.  He got voted off the island for continuing to tweet about #pizzagate, saying he'll believe it until it's proven untrue(!), which for him means never.   The bad news is he's still working as an aide for his dad, which is almost as bad as his dad being the next national security adviser.  Sigh.

Great minds think alike, my friend.

---------

Sabrina Ousmaal is the co-owner of a restaurant across the street from Comet Ping Pong, the pizza place caught in the center of the #pizzagate nonsense:

Quote

A few days before the election, Ousmaal noticed a disturbing Google review of the restaurant. It alleged that they, too, were involved in the sex-abuse plot. More online accusations quickly followed.

They suspected that the online mob may have targeted them because of a photo on Terasol’s website that showed Ousmaal and her daughter posing with Clinton, who had eaten there three or four years ago.

Another pizza restaurant owned by an Egyptian immigrant and Trump voter is also being affected. The restaurant manager had his fingers broken by protesters, and if sales do not pick up soon, the owner will be forced to close:

Quote

After Abdel Hammad, owner of nearby Besta Pizza, removed from his website a pizza slice logo that conspiracy theorists believed somehow symbolized child pornography, he started getting angry calls.

“We’re going to put a bullet in your head," one of the many callers threatened.

Fuck you, Donald Trump!

Taiwan is not a pawn in your power game with China. It doesn't exist as a tool to enhance your ego or your business interests. If you insist on stirring up shit, you'd better be willing to defend the Taiwanese people with US troops.

Of course, you have no intention of doing so, do you? You're planning on screwing over Taiwan, just like you screwed over your building contractors, hotel employees, Trump U students, and even your own lawyers. That's your modus operandi: use and discard.

I have extensive family in Taiwan. If you get them killed, Donald, you'd better watch your back. That's a promise.

It's okay to lose those jobs, because they aren't going to another country, so Trump can't convince Trump Zombie Nation that he rode in on his white stallion and saved the day. (Or some doublethink/nothink drivel like that.) Besides, those jobs were filled by Democrat workers.

As if he cares.

Perhaps he plans to rent his own plane to himself to fly on while he is in office.

The thing that bothered me the most about this is the CNN article about stated they attempted to verify the $4 billion cost and they couldn't. There is no current estimate anywhere close to that amount.

He can't -- he would have to pay for upgrades to Drump-force-one, which he's not prepared to do.

Quote

The Air Force wouldn't let Trump keep using his plane as president, though, unless it were significantly upgraded. As CNN reported earlier this month, Trump's personal plane would need to be upgraded with critical functionality to serve as his official aircraft. That includes missile detection and avoidance systems, electromagnetic shielding, mid-air refueling mechanisms and confidential communications systems. The cost of those upgrades would be up to Trump.

But, to add to the "fun", it looks like Cheeto's Tweet was because hims had gotten himses feelwings hurt (said in a baby voice). From the article I linked above:

Quote

As it turns out, though, the Trump tweet may not have been unprompted. CNN's Jake Tapper noted on Twitter that shortly before the tweet (which was posted at 8:52 a.m. Eastern) the Chicago Tribune posted an article quoting the company's CEO, Dennis Muilenberg. (The comments were made at a speech on Friday, not in an interview with the Tribune, as this article originally indicated.)

"Anyone who paid attention to the recent campaigns and the election results realizes that one of the overarching themes was apprehension about free and fair trade," Muilenberg said at the Illinois Manufacturing Association last week, as noted by Tribune columnist Robert Reed. Fair trade has helped Boeing, which prides itself on being America's largest manufacturing exporter.

"Last year, we delivered 495 737s from our factory in Renton, Wash., to customers around the world," Muilenberg continued, noting that a third of the planes were sent to China. "This phenomenon would have been unimaginable when I started at the company in 1985."

Those are pointed comments. It was Trump, of course, who robustly criticized free trade during the general election. And it is Trump who, this week, seemed to threaten a trade war with China.

That story has a dateline of 7:30 Central time -- 8:30 Eastern. Trump's tweet came out a few minutes later.

We don't know that Trump was responding to the Tribune story. We do know that the last time he tweeted an out-of-the-blue opinion, about flag-burning, it was immediately after a Fox News segment showing students burning flags.

So, another pissing contest disguised as a Twitter rant. I so love our "leaders" acting like toddlers.

I love this article: "He 'lied his a-- off': Carrier union leader on Trump's big deal"

Quote

snip

Jones, president of the United Steelworkers 1999, which represents Carrier employees, felt optimistic when Trump announced last week that he’d reached a deal with the factory’s parent company, United Technologies, to preserve 1,100 of the Indianapolis jobs — until the union leader heard from Carrier that only 730 of the production jobs would stay and 550 of his members would lose their livelihoods, after all.

At the Dec. 1 meeting, where Trump was supposed to lay out the details, Jones hoped he would explain himself.

“But he got up there,” Jones said Tuesday, “and, for whatever reason, lied his a-- off.”

In front of a crowd of about 150 supervisors, production workers and reporters, Trump praised Carrier and its parent company, United Technologies. "Now they’re keeping — actually the number’s over 1,100 people,” he said, “which is so great.”

Jones wondered why the president-elect appeared to be inflating the victory. Trump and Pence, he said, could take credit for rescuing 800 of the Carrier jobs, including non-union positions.

Of the nearly 1,700 workers at the Indianapolis plant, however, 350 in research and development were never scheduled to leave, Jones said. Another 80 jobs, which Trump seemed to include in his figure, were non-union clerical and supervisory positions. (A Carrier spokesperson confirmed that 800 factory jobs once earmarked for Mexico are staying.) And now the president-elect was applauding the company and giving it millions of dollars in tax breaks, even as hundreds of Indianapolis workers prepared to be laid off.

“Trump and Pence, they pulled a dog and pony show on the numbers,” said Jones, who voted for Hillary Clinton but called her "the better of two evils." “I almost threw up in my mouth.”

snip

It seems that not everyone was fooled by the Drumpian smoke and mirrors.

Of course the Orange Fornicate Face could pull any number he wants out of his Orange rectum (yeah I know, pleasant thought). And his Branch Trumpvidians would swallow it whole. Then spout it off to anyone in ear shot.

And now Cheeto has decided that Gov Brainfart here in Iowa should be ambassador to China;

kcrg.com/content/news/Bloomberg-reports-Gov-Branstad-accepts-China-ambassador-position---405188155.html

Quote

According to Bloomberg sources, Gov. Branstad is joining the Trump team as ambassador to China.

Branstad met with President-elect Donald Trump Tuesday in New York City. Branstad spoke with reporters following that meeting but declined to reveal if he had been offered a job in the administration.

The Bloomberg report cites three people close to the matter who asked to remain anonymous.

If Branstad does leave the governor's office, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds would move into the position as Iowa's first female governor.

Yeah he'll finally be gone.  But this also means we get a Sarah Palin clone as Governor here in Iowa.  Ugh.  Fucking ugh, in fact.

I never realized how close Trump sounds to Harding.

Quote

The point of recalling the terrible political moment we faced in 1920 is not to present the argument that Trump’s presidency will “not be that bad,” or that “everything will be okay.” It is that bad and everything is not going to be okay.

Millions of people were devastated by Harding’s policies and things didn’t get better when he died in office in 1923. Harding’s policies contributed — directly or indirectly — to the great depression, rise of the Nazis in Germany, and the current immigration crisis. In the coming years we face the real threat that millions of our neighbors will be deported, that we will see an escalation in racist policing in our communities, and that we will see a terrifying escalation of fossil fuel extraction accelerating the already unavoidable impacts of climate change.

Quote

The political moment that working class people faced in 1920 was terrifying but history did not end in 1920. Within 10 years of Harding’s death we found ourselves in the midst of the era of the most progressive political change in American history. The political moment we’re facing today is terrifying, but it is also not the end of history. Together we can keep fighting through the Trump administration, taking bold action and making aggressive demands. We can not only hold back the most egregious of Trump’s proposals; we can continue to build a powerful peoples movement for social, economic, and racial justice in the United States.

Here in Iowa we had our very own Harding as Governor..

Iowa's Harding makes our current Gov. Brainfart look like a saint.  He was the one who came up with the Babel Proclamation (which was most likely unconstitutional).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babel_Proclamation

Quote

The Babel Proclamation was issued by Iowa's Governor William L. Harding on May 14, 1918. Harding took the Anti-German sentiment in the wake of World War I further than any other state.

According to this proclamation, "only English was legal in public or private schools, in public conversations, on trains, over the telephone, at all meetings, and in all religious services."[1]

I'm surprised Cheeto and his groupies aren't wanting to bring this back.

It's nice to see that others have made the Harding connection. I've been thinking about that since the election. From the conclusions I drew after visiting the Harding home in Marion, OH, Harding was a small town newspaperman whose wife had political ambitions for him. As I recall, he was a compromise candidate in the election of 1920. He is considered by many to be our worst and least effective President, after a teen with many scandals, including the Teapot Dome scandal.

Also, @47of74, I wouldn't put it past the new administration to do the draconian English only.

Oh barf.  Time named the Orange Fuckface as their person of the year.

politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-time-person-of-the-year-2016-232297

Quote

Donald Trump is Time’s person of the year for 2016, the magazine’s editor announced Wednesday morning on NBC’s “Today” show.

“When have we ever seen a single individual who has so defied expectations, broken the rules, violated norms, beaten not one but two political parties on the way to winning an election that he entered with 100-1 odds against him,” Time managing editor Nancy Gibbs said. “I don't think we have ever seen one person operating in such an unconventional way have an impact on the events of the year quite like this.”

The Time magazine cover announcing Trump as its person of the year shows him seated in a chair and bills him as “president of the divided states of America.” But the president-elect, who spoke to "Today" via telephone after Gibbs, refused to take the blame for dividing the country.

"When you say divided states of America, I didn't divide them. They're divided now. I mean, there's a lot of division," he said. "And we're going to put it back together and we’re going to have a country that's very well healed and we’re going to be a great economic force and we’re going to build up our military and safety and we’re going to do a lot of great things. And it’s going to be something very special."

I'm another one who thinks about the Harding administration, looks at Trump, and cringes. I predict that upcoming Trump administration will set a whole new standard for corruption. :pb_sad:

Edited to add:

I completely understand that people have lives and need downtime, but watching how quickly people have shrugged and gone back to not caring about politics is alarming to me. Knowing that there's still people out there who get it is helping me cope.

Thanks everyone, your presence here is appreciated.

You're welcome!

Yeah I think the 70 Year Old Manbaby Orange Toxic Megacolon will do serious damage to this country and the planet as a whole.  I shudder at the thought of that fornicate face being anywhere near the nuclear codes.

I think the leadership of the Democratic party needs to be replaced, that the milquetoast leadership they've had will continue doing things the same and not stand up to the reich.   We need hard, pipe hitting liberals but they seem to get pushed off to the side.

I cancelled my subscription to Time, indicating to their customer service that I couldn't support them  anymore. There are so many good choices for person of the year, I can't believe they featured Drumpf. I also deleted it from my Kindle. I don't want to see his smarmy face.

Well, I guess we can kiss the environment goodbye.

Quote

In a move signaling an intention to dismantle President Obama’s climate change and environmental legacy, President-elect Trump will nominate Scott Pruitt, the attorney general of the oil and gas intensive state of Oklahoma, to head the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pruitt has spent much of his energy as attorney general fighting against the agency he will now lead.

Pruit, who has written that the debate on climate change is “far from settled,” joined a coalition of state attorneys general in suing the agency’s  Clean Power Plan, the principal Obama-era policy aimed at reducing the U.S.’s greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity sector. He has also sued, with fellow state attorneys general, over the EPA’s recently announced regulations trying to curtail the emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, from the oil and gas sector.

...

Sigh. I guess we don't need to breathe clean air or drink clean water.

Prima donna-elect's cabinet choices make me queasy. The media got all excited about Al Gore meeting with Ivanka Trump, but look who Trump picked for EPA. Suckers.

On that note, I will be very surprised if he ends up choosing Mitt Romney for secretary of state. Trump's really enjoying watching Romney grovel in an attempt to get the SOS job. I think Romney is going to end up angry and embarrassed when Trump finally makes his decision.

Time will tell if I'm reading the situation correctly.

Trump has made his pick for the SBA:

Quote

President-elect Donald Trump has selected professional wrestling mogul Linda McMahon to lead the Small Business Administration.

McMahon has long been floated as a potential administration appointee due to her ties to GOP causes and Trump personally, as well as the president-elect’s history of appearances at WWE pro wrestling events.

Trump lauded McMahon in a statement announcing the decision, praising her as "one of the country's top female executives" who helped the WWE become a "global enterprise."
