I am trying to see a strong christian believe in a neutral way. Not all strict believers (of any religion) are abusive or feel supperiour towards others.

You may feel "neutral" towards the Duggars and other Gothardites--but you know what? They sure as hell don't feel neutral towards you.  These Christian fundamentalists actively campaign to undermine values that many Americans, like me, cherish:  religious freedom.  gay rights. gender equality. equal pay. tolerance. the public school system. reproductive rights. I could go on and on and on.

And their desire to change the world doesn't stop at American borders, either.

I think that's the clearest point I've seen anyone make here.

I feel we should be, each as we are able, proactive more than reactive, as a result. Fighting for and promoting our values, and teaching them to others. Reactions are, of course, important; backed by community action, etc., to keep these people on the margins. To borrow a cliché, "walking the walk."

I know! Blue is my favorite color and I love seeing Brides wear what makes them feel their best. Both ladies looked stunning!

That Ava Laurenne place stocks Allure gowns which is the brand Jessa bought for her wedding dress. Hopefully Jinger gets a dress just as gorgeous as hers. Their cheapest dresses start at $1,200 though!

Anyone think they will try to make Jinger's wedding "classier"? I think Jinger will get the nice wedding as an attempt to show that this relationship and lifestyle are actually quite normal. I also think they want to lessen the chance of being made fun of or mocked for their strangeness.

I've wondered the same thing since learning that Jeremy is Italian. I don't know how traditional his family is, but from what I understand Italian weddings usually involve multi course meals (and ebil wine). Then again, the Duggar side of the family is organizing, so I'm predicting a lot of the same old, same old. Perhaps they'll attempt to inject some Eyetalian culture by including an Antipasti of Tater Tot Casserole and a Primo Piatto of Chickenetti.

Because I was bored and couldn't sleep last night I was looking at the Allure Modest line.  There were a lot of very pretty dresses and I saw a few I could see Jinger in, they still have Jessa's dress listed too.

Almost nothing is 100% evil. Refusing to judge an abusive lifestyle because there is a shred of good is basically turning a blind eye to the abuse. Remaining neutral over a system of abuse helps no one.

I agree completely. It's like the people who say Mussolini/fascism improved the railroad system and cleaned up the swampland. Really?????

Yuck.

I think Jinger will be the first duggar girl to have a damn sit down meal at her wedding. I just don't think Jeremy would go for a parking lot reception with root beer floats.

i could be eating my words in a few months, but just a hunch.

Not sure how, but with a sit down dinner there is usually music and dancing, I can't see Boob going for that in any way shape or form.

They do rehearsal dinners without music and dancing. I'm sure they could figure it out if they wanted to. It sounds dull as hell, but it's possible.

There doesn't have to be. We did a sit-down meal (it was at lunchtime, though; the ceremony was at 11am) with no dancing. Mr Alba doesn't like dancing and I'm not fussed, so we didn't do it.

That said, we did only have 20 guests, so there was a lot more opportunity to actually socialise with everyone. ETA: We also had booze. Booze may have had an impact.

I don't know. His parents are full blown evangelicals and probably see alcohol free boring church hall receptions as the norm and the only holy way now.

Can you wonderful people of FJ start posting your gorgeous ass rings & proposal stories? I'm so curious now, and I'm sure it'd be so much more interesting.

I'm a  sinner, I  married after having kids. My husband  put the engagement ring box is the baby's crib and called me "honey, the baby has something for you",so I went and voilà the surprise. It was sweet. Ring was princess style I think (5 little diamond on a row). Then we went out to dinner, while grandparents babysat.

I don't understand Duggars cheap weddings. In a culture where everything  is about mariage and kids, a wedding must be a beautiful party. They are rich, they also can get free clothes. Why don't do a nice party? Even Maxwells organizar weddings with elegant clothes and a meal.

Yes, me too! I love dark blue and have thought about wearing a blue dress as a wedding dress (if that ever happens...) It is good to know others have gone the blue route. I've never been a fan of how I look in white.

The only thing holding me back is that I'd also love to wear a mantilla veil and I think a white veil would clash and a dark blue veil might make me look like a woman at a funeral in 1875.

I completely agree with everything you said.  Especially the bolded.  The Great Commission means that they are everywhere causing commotion.

I also don't think some people realize how far these poisonous beliefs have infiltrated politics here in the US.

Perhaps the blue dress could be trimmed in black mantilla edging, or a lovely hat (circa 1875, feathers, veiling, black mantilla trim)...

You could do a dark blue dress with silver embellishments and a silver veil. I think that would be stunning.

I'm sure they have a date. I'm also sure they won't disclose it due to stalker leghumpers. If they want this to be a small gathering (relatively speaking, I suppose), I imagine that security is going to be even tighter than Jill's "no pictures for 6 weeks" shindig.

Because I was bored and someone had mentioned it, I looked around a couple of sites over the weekend, but alas, I was unable to unearth any registries. Maybe they're going to do the right thing and only send those links to people with actual invitations! If so, well played! It would be nice if just ONE FUCKING DUGGAR didn't try to take advantage of the fans for stuff they can certainly afford on their own.

I don't think it matters if Jinger and Jeremy have a public registry or not, their fans will send them gifts.

Oh, I am sure Jill R. already has poor Nuri braiding a hideous rug for Jinger.  She is probably turning somersaults while waiting for her invitation.  But Jill R. has at least met the Duggars in person.

I hope most fans/strangers to them do the right thing and don't send them gifts.

It really is creepy and unnecessary to send gifts to wealthy total strangers that the fans only *think* they know from a very edited TV Unreality show.

So true. Becky M probably had something picked out an hour after the engagement was announced.

Both blue dresses are gorgeous. I didn't quite have the guts to go full colour but did have a navy corset top with gold embroidery on it with a vanilla coloured skirt. This picture doesn't do my dress justice but it is the best one I've got on my pc at the moment.
