Japan knife attack: 19 killed and dozens wounded in stabbing

Story is still developing, but it sounds like a man with a knife attacked a facility for disabled people in Tokyo. 

What is happening in this world?

That's atrocious! I hope the wounded heal, and the dead find rest. My thoughts are with those who grieve.

Seriously, is there some kind of sick game of chicken to see who can commit the worst atrocity? Because attacking disabled people, who by definition can't fight back, is about as awful as it gets.

And I'm waiting for the gun nuts to come out of the woodwork saying if only there was a Good Guy With a Gun® there or if Japan's gun laws weren't so strict this wouldn't have happened.

Seems like the death toll is holding steady at 19.  I'm so sad for the families who lost loved ones, but at least the numbers aren't continuing to rise.
