Has anyone seen the newest Mom's Corner?  According to Teri, depression is just a matter of (lack of) self-control.

If you go to bed early and get up to read your bible before the kids get up apparently you will cure your depression.

She also gives a different version of her Pepsi addiction.  In this version she felt guilty about the wasted money and calories, rather than feeling Pepsi came between her and Jesus.

Fuck you so goddam much, Teri.

On the one hand, maybe this is one of her coping mechanisms, but on the other, she could use language which reflects that is something that works for her!!!!

Mercy me...I had never before seen photos of Lolly the Fundamentalist Clown. Thanks for the visual, @accountingstar:pb_smile:

I had to chuckle though, since even in clown get-up Anna can't escape skirts. No pants, baggy or otherwise, for Lolly, no siree!

If I recall, they actually added that lime green tulle on the bottom to make Lolly's skirt more modest.  I don't believe the outfit originally came with that.

ETA:  Ah, here's the original costume.  It comes with bloomers which are too much like pants, or underwear in Maxhell I guess.womens-lolly-the-clown-costume.jpg

Except that I don't think it actually does work for her. Maybe it nudges things up from, say, -8.5 to -8 (presuming 0 is neutral,10 is delirious & -10 is feeling like a blob of whale shit at the bottom of the ocean) but I don't think she actually functioned at all while she had children under 12.

My guess is that Teri was a lot like the mom in Sarah's Moody books. In the books, Ma Moody spends a lot of time in her room, supposedly resting while pregnant with twins, nursing the twins after they're born, or napping while the twins are napping. So if this is how Teri "functioned" when the kids were little, she wasn't doing too well. Then again, maybe her coping mechanisms were what kept her out of the psych ward? A lot of women would have snapped.

Then she has even less right to say what she said!!!!

I know I'm just repeating what's been said before, but it's really disturbing to read Teri's advice on outright refusing antidepressants.  That family has gotten so dangerously rigid that it's a good thing they don't "tour" anymore.  They can just continue to fade away into their made-by-themselves prison.

If they weren't so dangerous I would be incredibly sad for Teri and her children. The kids were screwed out of a decent mother because of their fearful, religious obsessive father and their depressed to the point of being a zombie mother.

Now, moving onto the newborn pictures of Daniel MAXWELL (cannot forget that he's Daniel MAXWELL, NOW).

I have little to say overall; they're very typical 'newborn' photos with a prim & proper posed family in pretty picture clothes. If they used Instagram I'd call all the pics Insta-pics. But, well, that's too worldly.

What I do have to comment 0n - - it was so nice of Chistopher and Anna to loan Sarah their kids so she can play house and pretend to be a mother and know what she is missing out on. I mean, how many other siblings would have their sister pose with their nieces & nephews like that? Sarah is so fortunate that she has such loving brothers that they let her put down her camera, play house and pretend to live.

Oh my word, is he ever a terrible photographer!

What is he trying to accomplish with these washed out pics? Is he going for some ethereal, angelic look? Cuz it's not working...

And also, learn how to crop, Chris!!

What struck me with the photos was that there was one with Joshua and Daniel but not one with each of the little girls. Why can't Ruthie and Lydia have their own photos?  Minutes after Daniel was born they took pictures of him in the arms of every "relative" but they can't do a formal pose with each big sister?

On another note, I liked the family photo a lot; mainly because it really shows off Anna's sewing skills. She is clearly very talented. Going along with that, despite Anna's constant "frumpers" I think she always looks nicer and more pulled together than the original Maxwell women. They always look so unkempt to me. I'm sure it's because of all those awkward layers but it just makes them look like they've never actually used that iron they are pictured with so often. Anna at least looks like she puts some effort into her appearance. Just my opinion, of course.

I tried to edit my post above but didnt have any success

i meant to add that the top photo is my edit of his picture (the bottom one). I cropped out the wasted space on the left and tried to inject a bit of colour back into their skin. I can't stand his style and can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever pay this man money for his services.

Your edit improves the picture no end. Did Sarah or Christopher take those photos?  Sarah is usually much better than Christopher.

FFS, I hate those mummified baby pictures.  I also hate the Maxwell trademark pose where they bend the poor babe into a pretzel and prop its little chin on its hands. "Daniel posed so easily for this photo!" - and he looks so very uncomfortable, poor little thing.

That kind of framing is fine if you're planning on using the negative space for type or something. Otherwise, it's a bit much. And yeah, Christopher is a horrible photographer. Even the most basic composition and Lightroom classes would be a big help but I don't think he'll ever be much better. The creative gene is missing. He'll always be the guy to TAKES pictures. A good photographer MAKES them.

NR-Anna already has the sort of fair skinned complexion that tends to look washed out in photos. Why on earth would he put her in white, on a white background, and then add that white hazy filter?

How can someone actually be this bad at photography?

I think he was going for high-key but he hasn't got a clue how to do it. Instead, he just washed everything out and lost detail and contrast.

Random high-key image (not mine) done right. Take note, Christopher.

I love the picture of NR Anna holding Daniel. She look positively radiant and his smile is so cute!
All of the children are really so cute.

As for most of the rest of the pictures, too white and the colors are too washed out. If these were my family pictures, I'd be pissed and ask for my money back.

Ruthie is a beautiful little girl. Normally, I hate to only compliment girls on their looks but in the case of a Maxwell female, what else is there?  She rolls a mean burrito? She can dust a ceiling fan and polish a cabinet in 30 seconds flat? It's not like they'll ever win a science fair or a track and field event or be head of the class. They might HAVE these skills but they'll ever be able to use them and we'll never know about them. They won't even be able to make name for themselves with their supposed cooking or housekeeping skills and open a restaurant or write a book like The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up (stupid, stupid book).

So yeah, if the best I can say is Ruthie is a beautiful little girl, let's run with it.

For some reason, the Maxwells don't take a lot of pictures of Lydia. If we see her at all, it's usually in a group photo. Very, very rarely is she ever photographed by herself.

Perhaps it's because she's just a second daughter? Not special enough to be born an honored first daughter position, and not born a boy?

This is purely speculation on my part, and me trying to make sense of twisty fundie thinking.

Let's see how we did with the FJ photo predictions!

Mango-Fandango suggested:

Quote

We all know what's coming- wedding rings on feet, mummified baby.

Alas, we didn't get a good ring-foot shot, but M-F was 1000% dead on the mark with the mummy theory. Daniel spent the entire photo shoot dressed as the larval stage of an insect.

I scattered my predictions pretty far and wide, but still managed to hit a few. Regrettably, these didn't make the cut this time:

Quote

* Baby dangling in a gauze sling like dice from a rearview mirror

* Baby folded into a tight ball like a frozen turkey and supported between mom and dad's hands

* Baby trying to sleep with furrowed brow as at least one female sibling is forcibly made to kiss him in mock adoration

Dammit, Maxwells. You let me down.

BUT!! We got a few winners after all!

Quote

* Baby teased into an improbable posture of deep thought with its noodle arms supporting its giant newborn head

* Baby clinging like a gecko to the strong manly arm of its father

* Baby tucked into the reluctant arms of his brother, because THAT'S HIS FUTURE BEST FRIEND

* Bonus soft-focus photoshop that makes everything look like a 1970's Swedish porno

Daniel is cute, as are all of Anna-Marie's babies. As usual, she looks radiant. Good luck, Danny boy. You're going to need it.

I don't think that's why we never see Lydia-- the Maxwells post plenty of photos of Bethany and Christina. I wonder if Lydia cries a lot, or doesn't sit still long enough to pose for photos?

Bit like how Stalin erased people from pictures and film stock if they didn't obey him?

UGH - I have the same coloring (and used to have the same hair color, before it darkened and got a lot of gray) as Anna Marie.  I NEVER wear white because it makes me look washed-out and sick.

You're a Summer AM - break out the pinks and the aqua blues!  It'll put some color in your cheeks!
