What's Going On in Maxhell? A Whole Lotta Nothing, Pt. 2

Do the balloons, clown, and tract stuff bother parents? These assholes are targeting children. I'm not a parent, but I feel like I'd be pissed if someone proselytized to my kid.

They gave up on the free soda booth.  I think renting a booth and giving away soda got too expensive.  The last few references to the fair have been about arming themselves with balloons and tracts and wandering around looking for juvenile victims.  Sarah prefers arming herself with $5 bills and offering them to female teens to "win" if they can get all the 10 commandments right.  One of these days she'll get mugged.

They never take the kids to the fair because of the dreadfully defrauding way people dress.  I really hope they don't take Ellie.  She would be a kid magnet for sure but she'd probably get heat-stroke.

IIRC, nightmare Lolly was "assisting" a church by giving out coupons.  The church was unnamed, of course, but was probably the one where they borrowed the baptistry. If Mary is face-painting this year (that's a new one) she will probably need a booth of some sort, unless she is doing it with unnamed church too.

I live in hope that all the Maxwells will be escorted off the fair grounds for pestering people without paying for a booth.  A mass arrest would be even sweeter, but my better side wouldn't wish it on the girls.  Steve though ... there is nothing creepier than Steve hanging out in the food court offering kids balloons. http://blog.titus2.com/2014/08/06/sharing-christ-part-4-steves-thoughts/

I hope that they don't win any converts and that the grandchildren get to have some funnel cake.

I'll just add this picture to my catalog of "Moments The Maxwells Failed to Look Convincingly Human." Steve looks like he's practicing a tantric yoga position, but doesn't quite know what to do with his hands.

It is a shame that we cannot see the expression of the boy next to Steve.

On the bow/headband thing - don't know if it's the case but to me it's always seemed more prevalent in the South.  I am in TX, land of The Bow Must Be Bigger Than The Child's Head Or What Is The Point, Exactly?  Go big or go home.  I have a sister-in-law who made them as a home biz for awhile and she ALWAYS had at least a six-week waiting list.  She made a LOT of money, solely through word of mouth and her FB page.

As for the Maxwells and their calling a family meal a "fundraiser"...I can't even with these people.  It's just so fucking insane.

I was just going to come here and ask if there were any names I should look out for in the comments. I feel like Johnna may  have been one, but she comments so frequently I could be wrong.

Oh yay. Lolly the creepy clown is coming back for the ol' bait & switch.

Here little kid I don't know, come talk to the bright 'clown' with balloons....oh, wait, don't forget you're going to hell and take this tract with you.

Assholes. I despise them for this probably more than anything else they do.

I wonder if that's how they get away with going to the fair, one of them dressed like a clown, and giving out tracts?  By aligning themselves with a church, I mean.

I have trouble picturing any fair just allowing people to come in dressed as clowns and bothering their customers.

I think it's a good example of a gender-related double standard that the Maxwells are allowed to pull the shit they pull, and that's precisely why I think they truss Sarah up in the clown get-up rather than Jesse or Steve. If a man dressed as a clown who wasn't hired by the fair, isn't associated with any entertainment booking company, and is also offering free food/drinks to people showed up at a county fair and started interacting with children in a stilted and weird manner (while dressed as a clown), he'd get escorted out by the police faster than you can say "hail Pepsi my lord and savior".

Ann is the one who puts on the clown get-up. Sarah stands on the sidelines, gawking and taking pictures.

Because there is nothing at all creepy about that.

And I agree, if it were one of the man children, it would be overtly creepy. With the girls, they have a better chance of sucking some innocent child into their web of death and tracts.

The whole thing just feels like really weird performance art. Some lady in her 20s dresses up like a clown and tells children that they're going to burn in hell forever while her sister takes photos of her and their dad just sort of lurks behind them. Marina Abramovic is kicking herself for not coming up with something this effin' weird.

I don't really understand what they expect to accomplish with Lolly. Are they really stupid enough to think sad looking Lolly giving out a tract is going to bring kids to their version of Christianity? Kids want to just hang around the clown and take whatever is interesting and free, they aren't going to be moved by a Steve sponsored tract. Plus, I would be most of those kids already have some type of religion in their lives. Some who likely regularly attend church and/or go to religious schools. What can a tract say that is going to turn them to the Maxwell religion? Or do they think parents will read them and be moved? Honestly, if Lolly and her sad tracts can make you change religions, or your beliefs, your faith wasn't that string to begin with.

As do I.  AFAIC, they're predators - who get away with it because they're indulging their religious fetish vs. some other kind.  What adult should be allowed to lure, manipulate, and potentially scare the living crap out of kids at a public gathering?  What kids, seeing a smiling clown (even one as creepy as Lolly), are going to expect to walk into a spiritual confrontation?

I hope, as years go by and Lolly keeps turning up, that parents are warning others about what might be lurking at the fair...and that parents are carefully watching over their children.

Yes, they are.

They live their entire lives trying to keep themselves insulated and away from influence and talking of family, blah, blah, blah. They are so scared one of their offspring may encounter something unsavory, they try to make money on their fear and choices. No one, ever, anywhere can come in contact with them or their kid for fear of influence.

Yet, they dress up to entice children they don't know. They don't give a rat's ass about the values those kid's families are teaching them or how their parents are raising them, teaching them, protecting them.

It's ok for them to lure unknowing children to their colorful clown but not ok for anyone in their entire family to work with a woman, have friends or associate with people outside their net.

It actually makes me really fucking sick. And it makes me grateful I have no children who could possibly get sucked into their shit.

I don't want to be overly dramatic, but I can't think of another comparison right now - I'd drag my kid or someone I love away from them just as fast as I'd drag them away from a  pedophile.

Preying on children who don't have controlling parents that let them walk around the fair without a leash is equivalent to preying on anyone else at any other time.

I think the name of the thread may have to change. Face painting! Christmas in July! Joseph and Elissa & Calia being absent! Somethings sure going on in Maxhell. And let's not forget they are flying on airplanes again and that's never been explained. Now, I'm all for them changing their weird, strict ways. But when you've been preaching against something and writing why it's a no-no in books you're selling, ya kinda owe an explanation when you start doing the opposite.

I hope by the time the grandkids are old enough to date/marry, Steve and Teri are just worn out and tired of trying to keep up them perfectionism and rigidity that they just don't care what the next generation does. I doubt there's much hope for Chris and NR Anna's kids, but Nathan and Melanie's might have a chance. And any others.

ha - yes, i was just thinking a lot of the county fair/lolly comments sounded fairly snarky!

also, i don't think melanie looks pregnant in any of the 4th of july photos.

Mercy me...I had never before seen photos of Lolly the Fundamentalist Clown. Thanks for the visual, @accountingstar:pb_smile:

I had to chuckle though, since even in clown get-up Anna can't escape skirts. No pants, baggy or otherwise, for Lolly, no siree!

I don't think Sarah would dress up as a clown unless she totally gave up on getting married... or was really really desperate.

@Odd1Out - "they are flying on airplanes again" - is this something they were previously against?  I don't remember that!

Steve threw a fit a few years ago about airport security and modesty so they stopped plane travel for a time.  Perhaps he now realizes that they won't all get strip-searched before getting on a plane.
