Diaper-gate:  since she's still breastfeeding (and seems to be BF exclusively-no solids yet), I'd say they have to be going through about twice as many diapers.  BF babies have yucky, runny pooh- the only plus is that it doesn't smell as bad as adult or formula pooh!   I'm actually surprised that as much as Jessa likes to talk about needing changes of clothes for Spud, that she hasn't shared that she's also needed a change, as he's had a blow out on her.  [yes, all four of my kids "baptized" me this way].

thanks for sharing and i do love when mothers share :) but do you actually believe Jessa sharing that with us - now that would be a site to see !!!

My best friend when she had her fourth -would tell me stories how she tried to catch the baby's vomit

Jessa flat out said "some days we go through 3 or 4 diapers a day." Not the exact quote but that's basically what she said.

What she said was "and some days we go through 7" in response to Ben's "we go through 3 or 4 diapers a day".  I thought it sounded like she was gently correcting him.  There's enough to snark on them without accusing them of not changing spud's diapers enough.

I'm pretty sure that's a rite of passage for motherhood, isn't it?  Being pooped on, barfed on, and scratched by tiny little fingernails.  Sometimes taking a good bonk to the head as well.  LOL.

Don't forget pee. Especially if you're a boy-mom.

I actually just edited my post after re-watching.

But I disagree. She didn't seem to be correcting him to me. She was basically adding to his point. And if it's really only 3-4 then I am going to go ahead and accuse them of not changing him enough. Your mileage may vary and all that.

Just got back from Eureka Springs. Was surprised at how liberal and artsy it is. Was tickled to think of the girls walking amongst the hippies and LGBT folk. Also, when they stay in a hotel do they keep each other from watching the cable tv or do they indulge?

On another note, we had a great time and can't wait to go back as a couple of days was not enough to do all that we wanted to do. Highly recommended it.

LOL - yes, I was pee'd on a couple times before I got the hang of changing a baby boy's diaper. And if they are only  using 3-4 diapers per day, that's way less than I remember using.

The pediatrician lifted up Wolf 2 and he peed all over the doctor's shirt. I thought he should have known better than pick up a naked baby boy. Seems like whenever I changed him, he would pee before I got the diaper taped up.

I always threw a cloth diaper (the cheapy ones from walmart, which we also used as burp cloths) down over my son as soon as I opened the diaper. Still didn't save me a few times though.

You can get good deals on tickets for the park for guests at the wedding. I'm sure that would soften the blow to Gil and JB, they could ride the rollercoasters together all day and pretend to be nice normal Christians so they can convert people while they wait in line...

ETA - I went back and watched. I was wrong. Jessa doesn't say it. Ben does. It goes like this...

Ben said - "Sometimes we can go through like 3 or 4 diapers in one day."

Jessa - "And other times it's like seven."

So she didn't say it, but she does make it seem like sometimes it's only 3 or 4. Yuck.

My kid would have leaky poo diapers in a brand new, dry as a bone diaper. If he took a crap in the car seat, we had to pull into the nearest parking lot to change him so it wouldn't leak on the seat. Those days weren't fun.

Cloth diapers really make a difference with the blow outs!! I only had a couple per kid because if it!

I think the modern ones are different from the ones I used, back in the dark ages. They were flat and had to be folded and held together with safety pins. Then plastic pants went over that. Wolf 2 got disposables, but they weren't that great either.

My uncle was a champion diaper changer for his boys and he always threw a wipe down before he opened the diaper completely. As soon as the cool hit they would pee if they were going to and he managed to stay pee free. My aunt not so much lol

I have no idea how that double post just happened and it wouldn't let me save the edit. Sorry!

I am probably too late to get in on the alternative language discussion....but....as a teacher, I have found 'rats on rollerskates' and 'well, fiddle dee dee' or 'oh, fiddlesticks!' to be very satisfying when said with enough emotion. And far more acceptable in sensitive company than my mother's more fascinating 'Hells, bells, and little fishes!'

According to his FB he lives in Singapore so that doesn't jibe with what she said about not having to go far to find a man.  https://www.facebook.com/dauer.cooper

OK I noticed this post on his FB page, with a local reading a book:   Then look at the one comment that is displayed.   Misspelling aside, they are actually amazed that when someone is handed that book that they read it?  Are they assume that everyone throws it out and wow, one guy is actually reading it!!

yes but she took Bradley classes and Jill must have taught her something during their meaningful talks

Well I took classes and they told us about birth and breastfeeding and even newborn belly button care, but never about how many diapers we must use. It was like "you have common sense to know it".

I suppose that these girls who have been sistermoms, are prepared to motherhood because they have  cared for babies before, but on the other side, this preparation makes them less open to learn new things about babies. They keep doing what they have been doing. This said, I see Jessa far more happy with Spurg than with Jordyn, so I hope hormones are helping her to bond and she's making Spurg happier than Jordyn.(Of course teenager Jessa was forced to care for Jordyn and it's different, but still I thought Jessa would be colder to Spurg and at least she seems nice to him).

Yes, because in El Salvador they don't know about Christ... Except for thousands of Spanish missionaires who have been taking them Bibles and churches since 500 years ago and banned local religions and forced baptism, etc.

Going off on a tangient (because I'm not suggesting anything, it just reminded me of this story), one of my friends parents split when I was about 10. The mum did a runner one day taking all of the children with her. It turned out that it was an abusive relationship and one of the ways the husband would exert his control was limiting the amount of diapers the wife could use per day on their baby.

Wow, I have a friend with a husband like that. He is a fundie, kind of weird guy. And he decides when she is allowed to change the babies. So they have to stay in shitty daipers as long as their dad chooses. Worst thing is he wants a quiver full.

Now as for changes, it just varies. My breastfed babies would poo non stop for the first month or so. We went through piles of daipers. And then they'd suddenly switch to one dump a week. I wouldn't change them for every drop of pee, since those modern daipers do keep the surface dry for quite a while. I don't remember if I managed to get it down to 3-4, but probably close. Part of it was that my babies made very long nights early on. I didn't have to do night time changes after about four months.

One mystery remains however. More than once my baby boy would wake up from a nap, soaked, both his clothes and sheets, while correctly wearing a completely dry daiper. I never figured out how he did that.

I never got that Jessa was "cold" towards Jordyn at all. Remember, Jordyn started to walk while Josie was in the NICU & they were living in Little Rock and they were very loving helping her to learn this skill, cheering her on. Cold is not what I saw at all.

I agree! Jessa did seem to care a lot for the younger kids in the older episodes but this was masked with the 'Don't Mess With Jessa' attitude she had so that could be why she may appear cold to some viewers. Spurg is obviously completely different though since it is her own child and therefore will be showing a lot more affection there when compared to how she was towards her siblings.

I never got that vibe from Jessa either. I think she and Jordyn had a very close relationship, I noticed that when Jordyn got her head stuck between the banisters, (and Boob and J'chelle gathered everyone around and laughed about it) she reached for Jessa immediately after they got her out. She didn't want ay comfort from JB&M. And when she got her tonsils taken out, Jessa was in the car with them, so she wanted her buddy along. It's Jinger that I never detected a close relationship with her buddies.

Yes, it is hard to believe any big news would have escaped Instagram and Facebook. I guess soon we shall see.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
