The spokesperson for a U.S.-based anti-woman group who advocates for “legal” rape has organized worldwide meet-up events in 43 different countries on Saturday.

On a website advertising the “Return of the Kings” event, self-styled “pick up artist” Daryush “Roosh V” Valizadeh has encouraged his misogynist supporters to “come out of the shadows and not have to hide behind a computer screen for fear of retaliation,” The National reported.

The website promises 165 events in 43 countries at 8 p.m. local time on Saturday. Valizadeh has instructed his followers to go to a public location at each meeting area and identify themselves by asking, “Do you know where I can find a pet shop?” From there, group members will be taken to a secret meeting location.

Women and the LGBT community have been banned from attending the meetings.

Valizadeh argued on his blog last year that rape should be legal on private property.

“By attempting to teach men not to rape, what we have actually done is teach women not to care about being raped, not to protect themselves from easily preventable acts, and not to take responsibility for their actions,” he wrote at the time. “I thought about this problem and am sure I have the solution: make rape legal if done on private property.”

“I propose that we make the violent taking of a woman not punishable by law when done off public grounds,” Valizadeh said.

Sounds completely legit. 165 secret events that no one can actually witness but are totally happening, he promises!

What a blowhard. His rhetoric is certainly sickening, but I can't imagine anyone except a few equally sick outliers taking his demands seriously.

What the absolute fuck!  Bet he wouldn't want rape to be legal if he got raped on private property or anywhere for that matter, what a complete an utter waste of space this guy is.

I bet it's a scam to fleece dimwit MRA dudebros of their money. All these libertarian/MRA attempts at real world organizing end up being scams, since these "movements" attract jerks, liars, and fraudsters of the highest order. And what's supposed to happen at these super secret he-man woman hater clubs? If they're so proud of their beliefs, they should be planning public marches and rallies where everyone can see them. The reason is that I seriously doubt that any city would give out a parade permit for a pro-rape rally, which would probably degenerate into a riot.

Wow. It reads like satire. Extremely unsubtle satire at that.

Did anyone manage to do a screen capture on the RawStory article?--it's showing "not found".

This link says the turkey claims the "rape ok" post was "satirical": http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2016/feb/02/controversial-neo-masculinist-daryush-valizadeh-claims-he-can-enter-australia-with-no-visa

The Wikipedia article isn't too bad: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roosh_V

One disturbing passage reads: 'While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she legally couldn't give her consent.'

'It didn't help matters that I was sober, but I can't say I cared or even hesitated. I won't rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do.'

The same book contains chapters on the 'Body & Appearance' of the women Valizadeh met on his Icelandic trip, plus a breakdown section called 'Types Of Icelandic Girls'.

The book also contains a story titled 'I Don't Want You To Get Raped...', in which he describes using the mention of his sister to convince a drunk and confused woman to allow him to escort her home. Where, despite her initial refusals, they later had sex.

This guy is fucking scum, reading that made me feel sick.

One of these events are literally happening in my back yard. I realize they are generally blow hard losers but this actually scares me. I won't be able to walk to the store or take a bus without having a niggle of worry about these Cro-Magnons possibly crossing my path.

I'm approaching my local Alderman, but not sure what else I can do?

Would this only extend to male on female rape? Or would it be cool if some women invited him over, drugged and repeatedly forcibly sodomized him? Or men, even, men could also do that to him. Is that all ok in his mind, I wonder?

Maybe I've lost it but I'm not...concerned.

  • The major attendees here will be men already on the ROK forums.
  • They have currently a total of 6 people online. (We currently have 83 people online here at time of typing.)
  • 20,000 members, roughly.
  • Roosh has instructed men who wish to attend to RSVP on a specific forum. So far....six RSVPs in this manner.
  • (More people did comment where they would go before the official date was set but that is only 400, max, based on replies to that thread but many repeat posts and people saying they can't make locations.)
  • The stupidest way to organize a "secret meeting" is to put your secret code online. Seriously. What.
  • The second stupidest way to organize a "secret meeting" is to post all of your locations online and then post potential threats if people you don't want to show up....show up.
  • They themselves are scared. Their forums are on "lock down" because of the "attack".
  • According to Snopes and ROK's own sources, the meet up is not to rally or attempt any legislation work (drafting, letters, anything). These are bunch of men who already can't fit into society who are going to meet up (...MAYBE, given their RSVP and relatively low member base) and just...hang...out? And be assholes with each other like they are online? Who have already alerted the entire world to this.
  • We have way fewer members here on FJ (~7000) but can you imagine the yield in making a meet up like this? Across the world? With schedules and monetary constraints? They'd be small if they happened at all. I suspect a lot of "hosts" will be going home alone.
  • Lastly, they're pathetic.

I hope I'm not wrong, I could be, but I just can't see this as a threat. Just a misogynistic, pathetic club that is being condemned worldwide.

No, I think you're absolutely right.

I don't think there is the slightest chance that rape would become legalized in the countries in question. No politician, no matter how misogynistic their own beliefs might be, is going to support legislation that would be so blatantly unpopular with the vast majority of society. Hopefully most would oppose it on moral grounds, but even if a few didn't, no one who managed to get into elected office would fail to see it as a career-killer to hitch their wagon to that particular idea.

I think the real threats are victim blaming, "slut" shaming, and failure to teach young people of all genders about affirmative consent and how to respect the bodies of other people and yourself. Those threats are less showy and dramatic and harder to pin down to fight, but ultimately I think they're far more likely to cause widespread harm.

If anything, I think a lot of these rallies will be cancelled a la Westboro Baptist if they get wind of massive counterprotests that are bound to happen.

I mean, I'm already seeing on FB things about "hey ladies, want to come and throw things at rapists?"

I don't think these dipshits are worth getting arrested over, but can't say I disagree with the sentiment.

It's already happened

It doesn't surprise me - it was always a publicity stunt, but I still find it scary and was genuinely worried.

I find it fascinating how the whole MRA/PUA culture revolves around something they want so bad but hate so bad at the same time.

This douchecanoe arranged one of his meetings in my birth town. It got cancelled due to "safety concerns". Good riddance.
