It does not matter who initiates divorce. That tells us nothing. It certainly does not tell us that the other spouse was working hard at the marriage or even gave a flying eff about it.

That being said, there is this new fangled invention called the paternity test and even married people can get one done if there is a question about who is the father of a child. Yes, the law assumes that the father of a child born in a marriage is the husband, but even after the divorce a man can go to court and get a paternity test and if the child is not his they do not make him continue to pay child support.

Also, alimony has absolutely nothing to do with pregnancy. A woman could get pregnant by 50 different men and it has nothing to do with her alimony (unless she was doing it while she was married...then it might effect her alimony aware, I suppose), but only remarriage or the time limit running out generally stops alimony.

Maybe if these guys weren't so damn whiny their wives wouldn't be getting pregnant by other men and divorcing them faster than rats jumping off a sinking ship.

The more sex you have, the more chances for it to fail. Also a lot of "accidents" are because of condoms breaking.

Maybe true, but so? A third of women have been abused. Women are more likely to be the abused partner. Should they stay?

I don't think those numbers are right, though I do have a problem with how moms usually get majority custody more or less by default. 50/50 should be the default, with deviating only because of individual circumstances.

Because most women who get alimony were staying home to raise the kids, and lost years of work experience. Men who get alimony usually married and divorced very wealthy women.

He'll be the presumed father until a DNA test is done. When he is shown to not be the dad, then he's off the hook, unless years have gone by where he's accepted and raised the child. Then he's still the legal father. I have an old friend who went through this. He and his wife were white as white bread, and the baby was clearly biracial at birth. The divorce was filed during birth. She tried getting child support against him. He requested a blood test. The judge complied (they usually do, since it's presumed estranged spouses are maybe sleeping with other people). The baby wasn't hit. He wanted the baby, hoped there was some recessive trait, and I was there when he got the call. It was awful.

So bull shit about the ex-husbands always being on the hook.

Nopers. Alimony has time limits. And if you get married, you don't get it anymore. There can be other stipulations.
