Ding Dong, VF is Dead! And Doug Phillips is a Tool - Part 3

New post from Doug Wilson:

"Now what was the sin of Sapphira here? Why did she lose her life? The sin she committed here, in Peter's words, was the sin of agreeing with her husband. And when she came in to speak with Peter, not knowing her husband was dead, her moral duty at that point was to expose her husband by confessing the sin."

He's not too subtly suggesting that Be-all knew about Doug is a tool's infidelity before it became public.

Can someone please explain to me how the bolded makes any sense at all? Does Bayly really think his sons will never have women teachers if they go to public schools? There are a lot of women who teach, especially in the younger grades.

(Hi, I'm new. I've been lurking, but not since Yuku, and I'm still trying to figure out things like fundie logic and who believes/practices what.)

Yes, but Bayly sees homeschooling as feminism invading the home itself:

"Not only is homeschooling militancy not the fruit of wacko father-rule, but for years I've found some of the most intense matriarchy within the homeschool movement and families. Lip service is paid to the rooster ruling the roost, but make no mistake about it: the hen rules the rooster. Let the elders of a church try admonishing some homeschool mothers and stick around for the show."

Bloody hell, now that's the post I was waiting for! Doug Wilson's obligatory "It's all Beall's fault" post. Had Beall in fact broken the story in the first place, DW'd instead be writing about how terrible it was that she broke confidence with her husband, stepped out from under the umbrella of authority, blah blah blah.

Heaven forbid that Wilson blame the person who misused his considerable authority, probably in several yet undetermined ways. UGH.

Just a brief interruption to say: this thread is all the reasons I love FJ (in no particular order)

1. snark + wit +intelligent commentary

2. exposing the patriarchy/fundamentalism for what they are

3. tools + schadenfreude = hilarity

4. learning new things (today I found out what talitha cumi means)

Nice work people.

And I just reminded myself that Doug Wilson arranged the marriage of one of his single female schoolteachers to a convicted pedophile. So yeah, Wilson is a real good moral compass to be following--NOT.

How would you describe Doug to someone who doesn't know who he is?/quote]

A hypocritical, lying, cheating, ungodly, judgmental, greedy, egoistical, sexist, patriarchal, POS tool. I'll even add a false prophet that Christ warned about.

T.W. Eston, whoever he or he is, strikes again, with a very long (I won't copy it here) article on Jen's Gems entitled "Open Letter To Chalcedon Foundation Regarding Its Defense of Doug Phillips."

One interesting note about TW Eston's letter is that the sentences are longer than is typical in modern writing. The first paragraph is made up of only two sentences. I am not saying that the writing is poor but it is a in a different style than what most modern writers use.

I am still reading the article but he/she is a definitely a well read Calvinist

Very long article. Take away from this one... Doug the Tool has a younger brother named Brad. Brad is evil in his own right... and Brad is in league with Matt Chauncey.

I had no idea that there was a Brad Phillips. Because of the praising of Jen, I wondered if she wrote the article but the writing style is very different than what she normally uses.

I don't follow the VF people too much (aside from knowing that Doug Phillips is a Tool), but the name "Doug Wilson" makes me think of Kevin Nealon's character in Weeds... so whenever I read his name, I picture a weed-smoking disgraced ex-CPA who once jacked off with a rope around his neck. Yup. That's how I'm always going to imagine you, Dougie Number Two. :nenner:

Wow, brad Phillips may be an even bigger tool than Doug Phillips.

Brad is not just a tool, this sounds like something a sociopath would do

Brad Phillips had been personally apprised of Hammond’s intelligence concerns while in the field, and he was told of it several times subsequently. Any footage that Matrisciana had shot of churches, hospitals, schools, and supply depots would have to be carefully edited so as to not make their location apparent and make them easy targets for the Islamic Khartoum government. Brad Phillips was well aware of the long history of the brutal Khartoum government, and the fact that for years they had engaged in a ruthless campaign of forced “Islamic conversion†and the imposition of Sharia through murder, rape, amputations, slavery and forced “relocations†to “peace camps†where they would be starved to death. Even crucifixions of numerous Christians have occurred. Millions of Sudanese have suffered genocide at the hands of the Muslims, so Hammond’s caution was well justified.

However, immediately prior to Matrisciana being able to forward a copy of the edited video to Hammond, a master of the video disappeared from Matrisciana’s Hemet ranch. Brad Phillips disappeared from the ranch at the very same time. Matrisciana and Hammond were subsequently able to track down Phillips and contact him by phone in his Virginia office. He acknowledged taking the video but made no apologies. He intended to begin selling it immediately without additional editing. By this point, Hammond had viewed a master of the video himself and knew that additional editing was required. He pleaded with Phillips to not release the video in its unfinished state. He explained that as soon as the video fell into the hands of the Sudanese government it would provide a wealth of intelligence. Hammond feared that a fresh round of bombing campaigns would result.

Brad Phillips caused a lot of deaths among Sudanese Christians.

Unfortunately, Hammond’s fearful predictions came true. Not long after Phillips began selling his unedited version of the video, every single church, hospital, school and supply depot shown in the video came under heavy bombardment by artillery, helicopter gunships and bomber planes. In fact every single structure that was shown in the video was totally destroyed in a matter of weeks. It became only too apparent that the Khartoum government was working directly off “intelligence†acquired from Phillips’ stolen video.

But the destruction is actually far more horrific than just buildings. From all accounts, at a minimum hundreds of Christians died as a direct result of Brad Phillips’ theft and premature release of Sudan, the Hidden Holocaust. Brad Phillips managed to gain a name for himself in the U.S. among a number of big-name evangelicals as a so-called champion of the cause of the persecuted Sudanese Christians. Since then Persecution Project has grown into an actual supporter of the relief and evangelism work in Sudan. But it was done at a terribly high cost, and it was done by Brad Phillips taking credit for things he had little if any part in.

Was that "Eston?" I actually just finished reading it, as I subscribed to Jen's blog once the scandal broke. I agree that whoever it is, he or she (I lean male) far surpasses "Ruth" in writing ability.

eta: Read about and watched the link with Brad Uber-Tool Phillips and am seeing red. Dougie may be a colossal dick, but his brother has real blood on his hands, in the name of making himself look like a martyr. Fuck that.

OK, it's horrible but I have to point it out

More persecuted Christians to raise money for.

Let's not forget the youngest Phillips brother, Samuel J. Phillips, born in 1986, a raging white supremacist. Briefly the online editor of The Occidental Quarterly, described by wikipedia as (a) "white nationalist, pseudo-academic (or pseudo-scholarly) and "a far-right racially obsessed US Magazine"

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Occidental_Quarterly

In one article, dated Sept. 2010, details his position that "White advocates are the most despised minority in the world. "

Given the white supremacist undercurrent that flows through VF and the Philips family, why did Doug the tool once claim Voddie Baucham as his "bosom friend"? Then again, Voddie named one of his sons "Judah Benjamin" so his racial consciousness and sense of history is clearly off.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
