So now Daddy Arndt feels that everyone wants and needs an entire week-end with his family, the softball classic isn't enough?

If an FJ-er felt it laid upon their heart to go along and report back to the Hive, I would be eternally grateful! I am absolutely fascinated by this family.

Seth Friday, June 21, 2013 @ 9:01 AM Central:

Hear, hear!! Very well-put. It still amazes me how distorted peoples’ views can become.

Yea Seth, tell us how babies are made. Tell us in a non-distorted way...

"Distorted" views? Sort of like when you have somehow been convinced that being an adult man living in your parents' house like a child, playing with Legos, sharing bunk beds with your kid brothers, cuddling up with your mom in bed, and never having intimate relationships is totally normal and healthy?

I don't get their point. Could Seth or his father name *one* Catholic priestly order that does not take an uncompromising stance on abortion? It's not as if Catholic religious orders are bastions of progressive thought as to a woman's reproductive choices and freedoms, and Priests for Life is the one holdout.

Me toooo! They are totally uninteresting in that they rarely DO anything much... but so bizarre and unusual as a family. Oh to be a fly on one of the walls in that home

I suppose I'm just jealous because I don't look that good in shorts anymore ... but it does seem to me that Mama Arndt would want to wear a pair that don't look like undahwears....

Interesting that they're being coy about the location and hours of the softball thingy. No registration but please do e-mail Papa Arndt with any questions. Hmmm....

I love watching the Arndt videos on youtube & reading FamTeamToday, especially after a couple of glasses of wine. I find their boring lives absolutely hilarious.

The woman can rock some short shorts! She looks better in them than I would. The whole family is just the weirdest thing ever. I find them stranger than any other fundie family.

ETA: How does she keep her white shorts so white when she wears them all the time?! I would spill something on those things five minutes after I put them on.

Maybe Mummy Arndt hasn't had all of them castrated.

They live in Belleville, Illinois. The softball classic is at Landerman Park, 1105 Mascoutah Avenue, Belleville, Illinois. (I assume it is. That's where the other games have been played. It starts at 5 pm)

Oh, to live in Illinois and be able to go see them. I find them fascinating in a morbid curiosity sense and still can't fathom how mama has kept them all at home tied to her apron strings. With that many at least two should have escaped by now.

I'm too lazy to shave that far up  I prefer bermuda shorts. Are the Arndts considered fundie lite because they wear shorts?

The Arndts defy classification.

They defy so many things, it's a wonder they can't defy gravity.

With the passing of James Gandolfini this week, I was thinking a bit about Tony Soprano and the recurring theme of ducks in his life. I'm not sure I ever figured out what the ducks symbolized.

The Arndt men have been fixated on ducks for months now. Their beloved stuffed penguins haven't made an appearance since they arrived. They've lovingly raised them from hatchings, feeding them, keeping them warm, and slowly introducing them to water, starting with small containers, then to the bathtub, and this week, they were finally grown enough to be released. Into the manmade pond in their back yard where they'll spend their lives floating around and around for the enjoyment of their captors.

Hmmm.

They do have jobs. I wonder if any will build a house next to their father's soon, then they could court.

I believe that was Rick's plan. But I don't think Mommy wants her 30-something baby boys to court. And I get the impression Mommy rules.

Hmmm.

A fitting metaphor perhaps? They've acted as parents to the ducks...without having to marry, leave home, or reproduce. Floating around, indeed.

Or in the words of Leunig (Australian cartoonist, I don't know popular he is anywhere else), "terrorism blows you up/nastiness wears you down/stupidity wears you out/the media sucks you in, drags you under/politics does you over/up, down, in,out, under, over!/ But ducks...Ducks just let you be.

I finished the DOL mandated Office Management Systems classed graduated, yeah me. That was Thursday. The next Tuesday I'm at the career counselors office and she says you have to have 20 jobs by the end of the week. I mean, UEI doesn't ask for that, more like 6 for 2 weeks. But OH NO. The DOL is making me job hunt. I think the people on UEI are not damaged or have chronic injury related problems yet they don't have to do this.
Plus the DOL has not approved my change of doctors. I wrote to the District Admin for SFO and I said I've jumped through every hoop you've put before me and now you won't let me see the doctor that I need to see? I've written my CE 4 times with no response. Not fair. They probably know he'll say no you can't work and it's causing damage to your cervical vertebrae and your shoulder. I have numbness that goes down my neck, across my shoulders and down to my elbows. C567. We shall see what happens.
First thing I do in the morning is job hunt and get my 4 or 5 out of the way. Then I can concentrate on other things.
Peace. From annie who's not so good.

I think a watershed moment was reached today.  Juniper has become a snuggle bunny!

Arlo watched with some interest; he's pondering whether he wants to maybe get some of whatever is making her purr...

      Kitten Update:
I had company for a few days so had limited time with the kittens.  But before that, last Wednesday, a vet appointment for first shots, worming etc.  I lured Juniper and Arlo into carriers.  I had been hoping to get them both into one carrier so I could lure Bob into the other, but instead they each took one.  So I took them to the vet.  Vet confirmed my sex assumptions -- Arlo is male, Juniper is a rare female ginger, yay!  Neither of them was happy about being trapped or transported or handled by the vet, but after a few initial hisses, no one bit Dr. Joe (or me).  They did great, and after a few hours of hiding right after we got home, they have returned to their old selves.
That is to say, Juniper has made great progress in being friendly.  I've been able to pick her up and skritch her and snuggle her and pet her several times, and she promptly starts purring!  She seems fairly relaxed but usually leaves my lap or arms pretty soon after I stop restraining her.  I think we're close to her approaching *me* for pets!  Arlo is still pretty wary and although I've petted him a few times I have not picked him up yet.  He might sniff my extended hand or bat at it, but still jumps if I cop a pet along his spine or tail when he happens to be within reach.
On the one hand, I still can't so much as stand up without them all scattering to under the couch.  On the other hand, some progress -- I can sometimes enter the room without them leaving their windowsill perch or spot on the floor, if I walk v e r r r r y s l l l o o w w w l l l y y y across the the room and don't go too near to them.
Bob, however, is another story.  Remember he was wilder than the others to begin with.  When I returned from the vet, I spent the rest of the day attempting to catch Bob for his turn.  I almost caught him twice but he escaped both times.  One time I actually grabbed him as he escaped the carrier and if I had been wearing gloves I might have been able to just put him in the carrier.  But since I wasn't wearing gloves, his panic led to several scratches on my hand (all minor and now almost gone, but I did watch them carefully and treat with an anti-infection tincture) and I let him go back into the room.  He's now extra spooked and I haven't seen a whole lot of him since Wednesday.  He's still around, doing fine, in fact I just watched him eat some kibble a few minutes ago -- he's just not so interested in getting to know me at the moment.  Next Wednesday I will break his heart further as I attempt to trap him yet again for another try at the vet's office.
Twice while holding Juniper in my arm, I've tried to walk out of the room to let her experience at least a whiff of the rest of the house.  But my opening the door causes her to panic so I've aborted that project both times.
No recent photos of Arlo or Juniper (hopefully I'll have a lot more time with them in the next few days since my company left this morning and also the oppressive high temperatures are supposed to cool down starting tomorrow which will make hanging out with them more pleasant) but here are some of Bob after his kibblefest just now:

So happy for Neymar and Brazil...that was a spectacular match. Glad they won gold when it really counted.
I love the Olympics. Especially since Bolt won the triple-triple and Jamaica did well in track & field, even through injuries and illness!
