Season 6 of 19 Kids and Counting. God help us all! (Part 2)

My heart breaks for Jordyn. I wonder if the poor kid will have RAD given that everyone in her world has pretty much forgotten she exists. Her buddy has checked out. She was thrown aside by Mama for the precious miracle. We rarely see her on camera where she doesn't look disheveled. If ever there was an emotionally neglected child it's that one. I want to take her home with me and she can be an only child for a while, play with the dogs, have toys of her own and attention when she wants it.

Everytime I see Jordyn I feel so sorry for her. also, did'nt Michelle say they choose buddies by personality, so the toddler and the buddy will get along better? Jessa and Jordyn seem to be a complete mismatch!

I know that this is random but Jana and the very young Aretha Franklin are look-alikes. Their eyes are just the same and the overall shape of the face, too. Anyway, I think they are both beautiful and I even think Jana is the real beauty out of the older girls.

I think we've already seen that Jordyn instantly latches on to any new adult in the house who'll provide her with attention - Jonathan Hartono in particular, and one of Amy's exes maybe. I think there's a really good chance there are attachment issues there. I hope the whole next season is an FU internets where we see Michelle constantly expressing affection and paying attention to Jordyn and Jennifer. Please TLC, force Michelle to be a mother to those two, even if it is in the interests of television.

Exactly what I thought too.

And speaking of hair, WTF is with Anna's greasy curls during her THs?

Those are not greasy curls, they are soft waves to enhance the countenance.

Honestly, the whole to-do about Michelle's non-landmark 46th birthday is sickening considering how the little kids have to share birthday parties. And James spent his 10th birthday at a hospital gift shop.

Edited for typo.

From the way they showed it Jordyn had a worse time with the illness. I'm surprised Josie didn't have the most problems. Maybe Jordyn is neglected that much.

I wonder if the kittens have been thrown by the wayside already. I didn't see any shots of them in this Epi. Who cared for them while the D's were running all over Asia?

I also find it strange that we haven't heard anything about therapy.for Josie, but we do see her go to a dentist. Either she is getting.therapy and we're not seeing it for some reason, or she's not getting much of it. She seems to see doctors regularly though, at least more often than the other kids, so surely those doctors have said something about therapy knowing she's a micropreemie?

Or.they've been doctor shopping for her too.

Josie saw the same specialist doctors at Children's as Samuel Pope. It may be that she has few issues or no severe ones.

This week I met an 8 month old who was born at 26 weeks. He was in daycare! He had to have medical permission to be there as do all the infants.

Around 35:00 in the video Boogalou linked (thanks!) you can see J'ichelle trying to love on Johanna. Hannie puts an a loose arm around her mother and then looks anywhere else. In my experience hugging small children, Johanna's very disinterested.

The Duggar vomitorium starts about a minute and a half later (coming up next...). There's actually very little puke shown (you see a kid huddled over a cup) but the audio is all there. If the sounds of retching bother you, just skip that final segment.

I think we see Jordyn more than Jennifer. I'm always looking for her. Usually they show the back of her head.

It's possible that Josie gets therapy, but they won't film it because that would be admitting that she is not the perfect little miracle baby. Her speech seems better than her next two older sisters, but that's probably because more people actually talk to her.

She may actually not need therapy. From James on down they've had almost zero parent attention and get lost in the crowd. Siblings know what they want so speech doesn't get used. She does seem to move fine and is very alert. Who knows....

That Josie survived is a miracle. Granted, she may need no therapy, although I think that is unlikely. What I don't understand is why the Duggar's would be reluctant to be role models for other families whose children need therapy. Think of the publicity they could get. And the footage of Josie doing therapy. It's a no-brainer, it seems to me.

I would much rather see therapy footage than her forty-eleventh trip to the dentist.

Even my 9yo noticed that the kittens have suspiciously disappeared.

Anna's curls "to enhance the countenance" - HA!

I would so rescue Jordyn and Jenny. They'd have two bigger sisters who would dote on them and a real mom.

i thought that was pretty disgusting as well, but I wonder if the "kids" really are so sheltered that they don't realize that making it romantical for there parents is squicky! Poor older "girls" haven't been able to experience any kind of romantic feelings, so it may not click for them... I think simialrly on the car decorating stuff.. They don't get out exposed to much so decorating a car is probably one of the few times they get to do something "naughty" in their twisted way.

I think all the dentist visits are just to prove what good parents they are. And they are just pretending like the therapy stuff doesn't exist.

Didn't someone once mention that QFs prefer chiropractors to regular doctors? Maybe the dentist is another one of those things.

I'm watching the recent episode now and Who Anna really comes off as fake when she talks about working with Jana on the birthday project.

I rolled my eyes at Boob and Mullet talking about the kids being "honest". Those assholes still hide things from their viewers and many people know Smuggar doesn't own the car lot.

I skipped a bit to the makeovers. I think both of the makeover suck. Boob has a goofy looking face a new hairstyle didn't help. It made him look like someone trying to do hard to bit hip. The whole unbuttoned shirt over a black t-shirt also looked goofy on Boob. The straight hair on Michelle looked kind of bad.

When it comes to fundie QFs and dentists, I think they are ok with dentists because dental care can be a bit cheaper than other types of health care.

Does anyone else think the whole thing with Anna organizing the birthday project and the part where she says that has a mother like relationship with Michelle was set up by the producers as an FU thing?

I've done tons of study of QF, have a blog on the subject, never heard Chiropractors mentioned! HERBALISTS, yes! Midwives, YES! MDs occasionally.

A lot of times chiropractors in my area dabble in natural medicine. They often sell supplements and herbs to treat candida for example or to help detoxify. Sometimes chiros are a little weird. Twenty years ago when I saw one, he tried to convert me to Christianity and also sell me supplements for candida. I made the mistake of marking a religion other than Christian on the intake form and I ended up getting invited to his church. He also complemented me on my body which was freaky given that I was in a vulnerable position.

Also, some dentists sometimes do the detoxification thing as well--for example removing mercury fillings.

It is recommended now that children go to the dentist once they have their first tooth, and then get a dental check-up every six months.

While it's very nice that the Duggars are so diligently following the recommendations (to the point of overkill if a two year old is getting x-rays for no apparent reason), the bigger question is, do they follow other pediatric guidelines? Aside from Josie, we've never heard about the kids having any regular well-child checkups. And, aside from Josie, do they immunize?
