Meet Hellena and Currawong

Well, I assume she is receiving Centrelink payments but doesn't like to acknowledge the government's beneficence. They just want money to fall magically from the sky:

I want money to be a gentle drizzle that rains on me, from who knows where, that generally greases the cogs of my life without having to chase it, along with all the other gifts of time, love, or physical trade that rain on us all, to drive us in the life we need to live. I want to surrender to my destiny and my passions, and most importantly my quest for true freedom and authenticity. I want to just live in the eternal moment of chasing inspiration and deep thought, catching it sometimes or not at others, and being happy for where the chase leads me.

Don't we all? I'm a musician, and would dearly love to have a patron who would pay me a living allowance so I could focus on my creative life. The reality is that this practice died out years ago, and I have to work. I can understand wanting to remove yourself from the "paradigm of money" but it does make it difficult to then live within mainstream society. It makes me angry that they go to soup kitchens to eat when they've run out of money. Civilised society should definitely provide support to people who've found themselves in terrible circumstances, but my patience runs out for those who've chosen this path in life, and wilfully reject ways of providing themselves with an income and then taking advantage of the very limited systems provided to the genuinely disadvantaged.

I really feel sorry for these kids. They have been raised in this lifestyle knowing little else and socialising with others living a similar lifestyle. They will not attend school, nor have an experience of adults around them holding down a conventional job. In the same way as the SAHDs, their choices in life have been severely restricted, and they will find it difficult to join mainstream culture should they choose to later on.

Kids in my family are being raised in a vaguely "alternative" environment, but they are surrounded by educated professionals (scientists, architects, health workers etc) who've just chosen to live more sustainably. I think folks might be disappointed if the kids wanted to be mining engineers when they grow up, but they would have both the education and the life experience to make that choice if they wishes.

Hellena & Currawong are restricting their children's lives just as badly as any fundie.

Eek! This is all getting a bit close for comfort - I am acquainted with at least 7 of her Facebook friends...

Don't worry, they are up in northern NSW for now.

When your midwife tries to claim that the coroner has no right to an inquest because the baby was never a living person, it's time to find a new midwife. Holy fuck.

She wants money to drizzle gently and is tired of the "money economy" and then three posts later....she's begging for money so they can buy a new van.

A van that would cost $27,000 US.

I tried to read this blog, I can't understand what this lady is talking about 90% of the time. And the pictures are scary. Is this who Lauren looks up too?

I see they all are trying to do what majikfearie does. http://majikfaeriDOTblogspot But she has 1 child, who she loves. She is very out there wearing only 1 color which she has done from a very young age, she has her hair in dreads, she started in High School. And has had several problems between a very abusive relationship with her Ex husband. But the main thing is she has 1 child, and is very very involved with that child. The child is allowed to self discipline but they live in a home with just a mother and a daughter, the mother can have a talk with her about behavior.

She is unschooled but the mother seems to make efforts to keep her educated.

Also on a few occasions it seems these two have reached out to her and she has not responded. Lauren heard her speak at the unschooling conference, then she had her hair dreaded and only wore red. I found her on the other post about Lauren. And then she was at the rainbow gathering where Lauren had Elijah.

But I find it so weird they are copying this lady. I enjoy her blog and she seems fun but she is not exactly the picture of someone who has it all together. She also doesn't paint herself as someone who has it all together. I enjoyed reading her blog.

majikfaerie seems to be yet another self absorbed navel gazer. What these folks don't understand is that many of us hippy parents sent our kids to public school and unschooled when the kiddettes were home. But we also were aware of the realities of the world and life, like mortgages, car and health insurance. Skipping off to Bali for a couple of days of sparkling adventures wasn't possible for those of us who had our feet planted in the the RW. I understand the economy is different in OZ and these folks really don't have to work if they are willing to subsist on government support. I just had to laugh at the donate button on her blog.

Our welfare system is very very generous to families with children. Everyone else - not so much.

So when the kids grow into unemployable adults and Helena and Currowong have no minor children they will all be trying to get by on unemployment benefits that are almost impossible to live on. Something like $450 per fortnight for a single adult, less for each person in a partnership.

Well, they managed to get a Coaster.

Thanks internet!!!

Why does she take such pride in her family being insufferable at the grocery store? Here she's talking about how utterly a awesome Currawong is:

or pushing the trolley hard at the supermarket and then lifting his feet and flying down the aisle.

Other exciting news: she's planning to write and sell ebooks! So those of you who admire her skill with words can own some for yourself. Joy.

What the fuck does flowmadic mean?

OH GOD!

You win.

x2. If a client had a crush on me, and not just like a "oh you're so rad I have a crush" but a sexual attraction crush, I would run screaming in the opposite direction. UNHEALTHY!

So all I need to do is stare at my belly button, never require my boys to shower again, and we too can receive a brand new 27K van?! Damn me for making them wash last night. I'll make up for it with extra belly button staring.

...I do have a cool belly ring. That should help.

Yup need some work on the names.

Talking of which, is Currawong his real name? Or did he just decide to be a Currawong one day. I think he looks like a Dave.

Hey!

my child is called Tüberkulosisse Mur-der

though Mur-der is pronounced more close to Moider -like murder in a newyork gangster accent

but I am not revealing the gender of said child

were raising them radically ungendered

Well, little Sunflower Morningstar and Indigo Flowerpot are not only being raised to be radically ungendered, they also don't even know they are human. As soon as they became mobile I let them decide which creatures they were attracted to. Sunflower has been living with the chickens for the last couple of years. Indigo has found his/her place with feral cats. Who am I to tell them that they should live with people? We are all animals, are we not?

I'll be writing an e-book about this at some point. Feel free to send me money and I'll think about sending you a discounted copy.

Not to be hand-slappy but you should be a little careful what creatures they hang with. Introducing a cat to a chicken might lead to some kind of sibling disagreement. After all, cats eat chickens.

That is very magical and sparkly of you. How wise of you to follow child-led gendering. You have a blog about this, right? Make sure that there is a donate button so that I can donate to you as you ride out the magical gender-free lifestyle. Groovy man.

Natural is best. In all things, even death. If one should attempt to kill another, then who am I to stop nature?

I sought a consultation with Russel, the Ayurvedic Masseuse, and he explained to me that my major meridian had been cut, which resulted in symptoms very close to post natal depression. He also said that the scalpel being steel was a conductor, so whatever energy the surgeon had, or mood they were in, was left as a memory in my body. He gave me a massage and showed me how to arch my fingers over the scar to heal the meridian

Do people just make this shit up?
