  3. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dad-raped-teenage-daughter-prove-9959259 And I put "for being gay" in inverted commas because that's only the official motive, not the true reason - which is that he's an evil prick. I have no words, except...just...poor girl, and her sister too. I hope this bastard never gets out and these young women can heal without fear of further retribution.

  6. Life is increasingly making no sense. How is it possible to molest a baby, on film, no less, and get no jail time? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2016/09/19/teen-pleads-guilty-to-sexual-abuse-of-a-1-year-old-girl-then-a-judge-gives-him-no-prison-time/ It seems like the perpetrator was manipulated into the act by older adults online, but even so, he should have realized that what he was doing was wrong.

  8. I hope this guy loses his job; cnn.com/2016/09/12/world/robin-camp-rape-comments-trnd/index.html And what might you ask happened to the accused? Big surprise, he was acquitted by this same judge. And the judge is trying out a horseshit excuse about how he didn't have any training. Fuck. Even before I went into law school four weeks ago I knew better than he did about asking rape victims such things.
  9. I recently found out about the story of Patricia Davis, a non-smoking, non-smoking teenager who was branded a drunken slut after she was raped at an MGM "stag party" in 1937 (which she was hired for under false pretenses) and dared to go public with it: http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2003/04/mgm200304 The entire story is quite infuriating, not just because of what Douglas endures, but because I'm not sure anything has really changed in terms of powerful men being punished for sexual Crimea or victims being able to seek justice.
  10. so the rapist is going to suffer for this so thats punishment enough. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/austin-wilkerson-boulder-rape-prison_us_57abb86ce4b06e52746f3b22?section=

  12. I came across this story which was last updated 22 June 2016. According to the article, military cadets were subjected to institutionalized rape and sexual violence by staff and peers. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/21/asia/australia-military-abuse/index.html
  13. Twenty Minutes of Action

It's time for me to hop back on the serious issue bandwagon here. In January of 2015, a student at Stanford University sexually assaulted and raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. His actions were so heinous and despicable that one of the two witnesses who saw what he did, broke down and cried as he held the assailant down until police arrived. The victim is forever scarred by this incident, as you might imagine. She went out drinking and passed out. Not a wise choice on her part, obviously, but that is in NO way an excuse to be fondled and penetrated without knowing about it. This woman's life has been immeasurably altered forever. Not for the next few months or even years, but FOREVER. The assailant was found guilty of rape and faced a possible 10-year prison sentence. In a plea for leniency, the boy's father wrote a letter to the judge, explaining that his son's personality has changed since the night of this event. He's no longer "easy going" and no longer carries a "welcoming smile." He's been kicked out of an elite college institution, as well he should be, and facing a maximum sentence "Is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action." Say what??? Even this young guy can't believe it! Sure, I get that this father loves his son and wants to protect him. But those 20 minutes have permanently affected the life of another human being. If she's lucky, she will get through this and lead a successful life, but it will forever haunt her and likely damage her ability to trust men, let alone people in general. It's not like the boy egged someone's house and it can be cleaned up. NO! This is harm inflicted on another human being that will NEVER go away or be cleaned up. Even if he serves a full 10-year sentence, he gets out in half that time most likely and can live his life knowing what he did. Yes, he's now got a damaged record and is a registered sex offender, but that hardly compares to the anguish and torment the victim likely will deal with for the REST OF HER LIFE! I don't know what the judge was thinking or if the boy's wealthy family background and high-priced legal representation had anything to do with the ultimate decision, but the sentence issued was six months. Are you f*cking kidding me? How is this justice? In her own words, the victim says she has suffered "irreversible damage." With this light sentence, our society has suffered irreversible damage as well. Just sayin...
  14. A former Stanford swimmer who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman was sentenced to six months in jail because a longer sentence would have “a severe impact on him,” according to a judge. At his sentencing Thursday, his victim read him a letter describing the “severe impact” the assault had on her. 15. I can't tell if the girl had chosen to have sex with the guy not that it really matters. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2016/05/25/christian-dad-forced-14-year-old-daughter-to-marry-much-older-rapist-who-impregnated-her-video/
  16. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/apr/27/oral-sex-rape-ruling-tulsa-oklahoma-alcohol-consent?CMP=twt_gu Here is the article that just left me stunned. To sum up, a teenage girl was drunk, passed out, and a teenage boy orally raped her. He was charged and a judge said the state's law on consent/rape doesn't cover oral offenses. This IS 2016, right?!
  17. Here's your evening dose of rage-inducing content. http://www.wral.com/byu-students-investigated-by-school-after-reporting-rape/15652915/ Apparently students who report sexual assault at Brigham Young are being investigated for honor code violations. Grr!!!! Hopefully I'm not duplicate posting (I did search FJ for this story and found nothing).
  18. https://www.rawstory.com/2016/04/dear-abby-blames-girls-rape-on-communication-breakdown-in-bewildering-advice-column-gone-wrong/ http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/life/entertainment/story/2016/apr/13/communication-breakdown-serious-consequences/359517/ Because rapists don't rape, the victims fail to communicate they're not consenting.
  19. real good sheriff here wonder why woman don't want to report rapes well here you have it. waiting on the MRA's to say the guy is right. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...-consensual-idaho_us_56e96c58e4b065e2e3d7faf6
  20. Just stumbled upon this article: http://ktla.com/2016/03/07/oklahoma-missionary-accused-of-raping-children-at-african-orphanage-sentenced-to-40-years-in-prison/ Matthew Durham, a 21 year old Oklahoma native, went on a missionary trip to Kenya to work at an orphanage and has been found guilty of raping three young girls up to eight times and molesting a 12 year old boy twice in his first 33 days there. He's been sentenced to 40 years in prison. In this case, it was 'lucky' (as much as anything can be in this situation) that there were other workers there who were pretty observant with his behaviour and changes in the children's behaviour by the sounds of it. I really wonder how often this sort of things happen with these foreign missionaries who go to Africa and work with children with very little oversight.
  21. Kesha vs Sony and Dr. Luke

A judge has recently denied Kesha's request for an injunction to be let out of her contract for 6 albums with Sony, where she worked producer Luke Gottwald (Dr. Luke) who allegedly raped her, drugged her, and emotionally abused her for several years. Sony has offered to let her work with other producers, but Kesha fears they won't promote her music as much. http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/kesha-supported-by-lady-gaga-ariana-grande-after-court-hearing-w164917 Fans and fellow celebrities are supporting her in demanding SONY let her out. My understanding is that the ruling was technically the only legal option considering the law. Also, I believe there is a lawsuit against Dr. Luke for the specific abuse allegations still pending resolution.
  22. we like to blame muslims right now on rape culture but here is this quality human spouting it off. really if anyone deserves rape this guy does with a huge dildo and no lube. or a pineapple. http://www.rawstory.com/2016/02/us-...urce=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link Quote The spokesperson for a U.S.-based anti-woman group who advocates for “legal” rape has organized worldwide meet-up events in 43 different countries on Saturday. On a website advertising the “Return of the Kings” event, self-styled “pick up artist” Daryush “Roosh V” Valizadeh has encouraged his misogynist supporters to “come out of the shadows and not have to hide behind a computer screen for fear of retaliation,” The National reported. The website promises 165 events in 43 countries at 8 p.m. local time on Saturday. Valizadeh has instructed his followers to go to a public location at each meeting area and identify themselves by asking, “Do you know where I can find a pet shop?” From there, group members will be taken to a secret meeting location. Women and the LGBT community have been banned from attending the meetings. Valizadeh argued on his blog last year that rape should be legal on private property. “By attempting to teach men not to rape, what we have actually done is teach women not to care about being raped, not to protect themselves from easily preventable acts, and not to take responsibility for their actions,” he wrote at the time. “I thought about this problem and am sure I have the solution: make rape legal if done on private property.” “I propose that we make the violent taking of a woman not punishable by law when done off public grounds,” Valizadeh said.
  23. Rapist Cop sentenced to 263 years

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/21/us/oklahoma-city-officer-daniel-holtzclaw-rape-sentencing/ Daniel Holtzclaw, ex-cop in Oklahoma, convicted of raping/assaulting multiple women, received the max sentence. He chose his targets as drug addicts, sex workers, women with an arrest record. All of his victims were black women.
  24. Like most of the world, I've been thinking about David Bowie's life and accomplishments. I enjoyed his music, and I felt like going back and listening to it. Then one of my friends posted this article, about the conflicting urges to love David Bowie's ground-breaking artistry and hate the way he treated women in his past. That was the first time I learned he had been accused of rape, and that he once had sex with a 14 year old. http://aidamanduley.com/2016/01/12/david-bowie-time-to-mourn-or-call-out-2/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=socialnetwork I have been a fan of classic rock since middle school--Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc. I was a nerdy good girl and it helped me get in touch with my primal side. Now I'm an adult, however, and I feel like I know too much. I now know that these musicians were misogynistic assholes at best, rapists and abusers at worst. I feel like I can't listen to the music I love because I am now aware of this, and how can I call myself a feminist if I continue listening to them? At the same time, I feel guilty for being bothered over not being able to listen to this music. (Someone diagram that sentence.) I DO care about stoping violence against women, and I can't dismiss the whole thing by saying, "It's just music" or "That was decades ago." Sometimes I feel like there is no point in becoming attached to any art because something bad is bound to come out about the artist. (This could really be applied to anything. When Oscar Pistorius was arrested for killing his girlfriend, it felt like the lesson for the public was to never have a hero.) And yet if we only consumed art made by nice, law-abiding people, there would be NO art. Does anyone else struggle with this?
  25. This is all over social media here at the moment: On New Years Eve dozens of women were insulted, robbed, assaulted - and at least in one case even raped - by some sort of mega gang at the central station in the German city of cologne. BCC article: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35231046
