  1. It has been suggested to start a list of fundies and their scandals. Here's the Fundy Walk of Shame: List Updated 9 October 2017 March 23: I don't know if there's enough brain bleach in the world to handle compiling this list. My emotions keep swinging back and forth between rage and crying. This is horrid. March 20: This list is obviously incomplete. I know there are a couple of cases listed by the victim's name rather than the perpetrator but I can't take any more nastiness tonight. I'll come back to it in a day or two. Please post if there are people I'm missing or if you see anything that needs to be corrected, I don't know all of these people/cases.
  2. Many of you may know that the D.C. Police kettled (i.e. Indiscriminately arrested) over 200 people during Trump's inauguration, including members of the press and street medics. Although the D.C. Police are supposedly one of the better forces when it comes to respecting the freedoms of protesters, there is ample evidence to suggest otherwise, especially now that some J20 defendants are claiming that they were raped and sexually assaulted after being kettled: https://thinkprogress.org/aclu-sees-dc-cops-over-inauguration-arrests-971b821c9480 It speaks volumes about our twisted values as a country when people are more outraged by a smashed Starbucks window than rapist cops.
  3. A former Stanford swimmer who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman was sentenced to six months in jail because a longer sentence would have “a severe impact on him,” according to a judge. At his sentencing Thursday, his victim read him a letter describing the “severe impact” the assault had on her. 6. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dad-raped-teenage-daughter-prove-9959259 And I put "for being gay" in inverted commas because that's only the official motive, not the true reason - which is that he's an evil prick. I have no words, except...just...poor girl, and her sister too. I hope this bastard never gets out and these young women can heal without fear of further retribution.

  10. Life is increasingly making no sense. How is it possible to molest a baby, on film, no less, and get no jail time? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2016/09/19/teen-pleads-guilty-to-sexual-abuse-of-a-1-year-old-girl-then-a-judge-gives-him-no-prison-time/ It seems like the perpetrator was manipulated into the act by older adults online, but even so, he should have realized that what he was doing was wrong.

  12. I hope this guy loses his job; cnn.com/2016/09/12/world/robin-camp-rape-comments-trnd/index.html And what might you ask happened to the accused? Big surprise, he was acquitted by this same judge. And the judge is trying out a horseshit excuse about how he didn't have any training. Fuck. Even before I went into law school four weeks ago I knew better than he did about asking rape victims such things.
  13. so the rapist is going to suffer for this so thats punishment enough. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/austin-wilkerson-boulder-rape-prison_us_57abb86ce4b06e52746f3b22?section=
  14. I recently found out about the story of Patricia Davis, a non-smoking, non-smoking teenager who was branded a drunken slut after she was raped at an MGM "stag party" in 1937 (which she was hired for under false pretenses) and dared to go public with it: http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2003/04/mgm200304 The entire story is quite infuriating, not just because of what Douglas endures, but because I'm not sure anything has really changed in terms of powerful men being punished for sexual Crimea or victims being able to seek justice.
  15. this is about as Fucked up up as it gets. glad the parents are getting nailed too. I wonder if the parents were so ignorant because of their amish life they thought this was a innocent thing? http://bigstory.ap.org/bf1b6efff995451486dec7ae98a1e24a

  17. I came across this story which was last updated 22 June 2016. According to the article, military cadets were subjected to institutionalized rape and sexual violence by staff and peers. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/21/asia/australia-military-abuse/index.html
  18. Twenty Minutes of Action

It's time for me to hop back on the serious issue bandwagon here. In January of 2015, a student at Stanford University sexually assaulted and raped an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. His actions were so heinous and despicable that one of the two witnesses who saw what he did, broke down and cried as he held the assailant down until police arrived. The victim is forever scarred by this incident, as you might imagine. She went out drinking and passed out. Not a wise choice on her part, obviously, but that is in NO way an excuse to be fondled and penetrated without knowing about it. This woman's life has been immeasurably altered forever. Not for the next few months or even years, but FOREVER. The assailant was found guilty of rape and faced a possible 10-year prison sentence. In a plea for leniency, the boy's father wrote a letter to the judge, explaining that his son's personality has changed since the night of this event. He's no longer "easy going" and no longer carries a "welcoming smile." He's been kicked out of an elite college institution, as well he should be, and facing a maximum sentence "Is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action." Say what??? Even this young guy can't believe it! Sure, I get that this father loves his son and wants to protect him. But those 20 minutes have permanently affected the life of another human being. If she's lucky, she will get through this and lead a successful life, but it will forever haunt her and likely damage her ability to trust men, let alone people in general. It's not like the boy egged someone's house and it can be cleaned up. NO! This is harm inflicted on another human being that will NEVER go away or be cleaned up. Even if he serves a full 10-year sentence, he gets out in half that time most likely and can live his life knowing what he did. Yes, he's now got a damaged record and is a registered sex offender, but that hardly compares to the anguish and torment the victim likely will deal with for the REST OF HER LIFE! I don't know what the judge was thinking or if the boy's wealthy family background and high-priced legal representation had anything to do with the ultimate decision, but the sentence issued was six months. Are you f*cking kidding me? How is this justice? In her own words, the victim says she has suffered "irreversible damage." With this light sentence, our society has suffered irreversible damage as well. Just sayin...
  19. I can't tell if the girl had chosen to have sex with the guy not that it really matters. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2016/05/25/christian-dad-forced-14-year-old-daughter-to-marry-much-older-rapist-who-impregnated-her-video/
  20. Bill Cosby

I'm surprised this went by the wayside for so long...14 women (only one who got a monetary settlement) claiming he was a serial rapist (would drug womens' drinks then have sex with them). I remember the original allegations but they got smoothed over, butwin the wake of a comedian mentioning them and Jian Ghomeshi (Canada) they're coming out again. Sad. I believe the women, one of whom recently came out to CNN about an assault in '69. Now Janice Dickinson weighs in http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/1 ... 81808.html
  21. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/apr/27/oral-sex-rape-ruling-tulsa-oklahoma-alcohol-consent?CMP=twt_gu Here is the article that just left me stunned. To sum up, a teenage girl was drunk, passed out, and a teenage boy orally raped her. He was charged and a judge said the state's law on consent/rape doesn't cover oral offenses. This IS 2016, right?!
  22. https://www.rawstory.com/2016/04/dear-abby-blames-girls-rape-on-communication-breakdown-in-bewildering-advice-column-gone-wrong/ http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/life/entertainment/story/2016/apr/13/communication-breakdown-serious-consequences/359517/ Because rapists don't rape, the victims fail to communicate they're not consenting.
  23. Here's your evening dose of rage-inducing content. http://www.wral.com/byu-students-investigated-by-school-after-reporting-rape/15652915/ Apparently students who report sexual assault at Brigham Young are being investigated for honor code violations. Grr!!!! Hopefully I'm not duplicate posting (I did search FJ for this story and found nothing).
  24. By his own admission, Father Joseph Jeyapaul raped two girls when he was assigned to a parish in Minnesota. He fled to his native India, but was extradicted and got a reduced sentence for admitting his guilt. After serving his scant one year sentenced he was deported and suspended from ministry. That should have been the end of the story, but the Vatican reinstanted Jeyapaul into the priesthood and has been assigned to a parish in India where he is in charge of religious education: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/04/24/the-vatican-just-put-a-convicted-rapist-back-in-a-parish.html Megan Peterson, one of the victims in the Minnesota case, is now filing a public danger (nuisance) federal lawsuit against the Ootacamund diocese in Tamil Nadu, India for putting Jeyapaul back into ministry and in contact with minors. If you thought that the abuse crisis was over or that Francis was cleaning house, this article shows otherwise. As difficult as prosecuting abusers is in the US, it must be much, much harder in a developing nation like India. The fact that Jeyapaul is in charge of religious education even though he used that post to meet and groom victims in Minnesota reminds me of stories from Boston in the 1950s and 1960s, where the archdiocese knew that such and such a priest had been molesting children but still put him in charge of children' activities in another parish. If rape doesn't make someone unfit for ministry, I don't know what does.
  25. This is all over social media here at the moment: On New Years Eve dozens of women were insulted, robbed, assaulted - and at least in one case even raped - by some sort of mega gang at the central station in the German city of cologne.
