  1. So the past few days, in Minneapolis and Edina, MN (I now live right next to Edina- I go to my gym and shop there), people have been finding these horrific anti gay fliers just EVERYWHERE. People suspect alt eighth involvement. I have attached a photo of a flyer I found; I then threw it away and encouraged everyone else local to do the same. I'm just really scared right now. Sure, there can't be a very big presence of those alt right types around here- but since I saw the flyers in places I like to go, it makes me think- what if I run into one of them? Especially since coming out as nonbinary, I know I look very not-straight. Has anyone else in other cities seen this type of literature?

  3. USA Today <snip> <snip> I had no idea participating in Boy Scouts was such a significant part of growing up in the Mormon faith for boys. I don't believe for a second that this has nothing to do with Boy Scouts choosing to embrace LGBTQ+ youth.
  4. I know Vicky Beeching has been discussed here before. She has been dealing with awful comments on social media. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/04/21/lesbian-christian-rock-star-vicky-beeching-faces-vile-abuse-from-christians/
  5. http://www.tobyjsumpter.com/pink-hair-boys-wearing-girls-underwear/ I love my natural brown and have little desire to change it, but after reading this gem of an exhortation I'm tempted for the first time towards hot pink and neon orange. About halfway through this I had to start repeating "What an asshole" to myself over and over in order to make it through. HIs attitude towards and assumptions and judgements about trans people are sickening.
  6. Yeah, Dobson again. advocate.com/transgender/2016/6/01/james-dobson-be-man-shoot-transgender-woman-bathroom How long until he's caught wide stancing it in a airport shithouse?
  7. As a foster parent/adoptive parent this makes me so upset. After months of hard work, South Dakota lawmakers handed Governor Dennis Daugaard Senate Bill 149, a bill that allows taxpayer-funded agencies to refuse to provide any service, including adoption or foster care services, on the basis of the agency’s religious or moral convictions, according to the ACLU. Gov. Daugaard quickly signed the bill into law, making South Dakota the first state in 2017 to pass anti-LGBT legislation. The ACLU derided the new anti-LGBT bill in a press release: The American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota has led the opposition to SB 149 through both lobbying efforts and by organizing affected communities. In a state facing a labor and talent shortage, this bill has sparked national interest and local questions as to whether South Dakota welcomes diversity and values the rights of individual citizens. This bill was opposed by local and national child welfare experts that sent letters in opposition including The Adoption Exchange, Child Welfare League of America, National Association of Social Workers, and Voice for Adoption, as well as family law experts, South Dakota pediatricians, and local and national LGBT rights organizations including the Movement Advancement Project, the Human Rights Campaign, and more. - See more at: http://www.thegailygrind.com/2017/03/11/south-dakota-becomes-first-state-2017-pass-law-legalizing-discrimination-lgbt-people/#sthash.ang50aL2.dpuf
  8. Does anyone remember former Idaho Senator Larry Craig? He resigned his position after his conviction for lewd conduct in a men's restroom in the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport became public. (No! He wasn't signalling anything! He just had "a wide stance" in the restroom!) Wikipedia seems to have a good summary of the scandal. Or if you prefer original sources, CNN has a transcript of his police interview after he was arrested. Anyway, he is apparently ready to talk to an Idaho television station, 10 years later. I found the announcement on their Twitter feed. https://mobile.twitter.com/idahoonyourside?lang=en It was posted 18 hours ago and it looked like this: (Sorry. I'm not on Twitter and I don't know how to link to it directly.) I wonder what he has to say? Or maybe it will just be a puff piece, with no hard questions asked? Hmmm....

  12. Anyone else watching this? It's the latest Netflix original. I've been binge-watching it this weekend and it is so good. Huge female cast, diverse characters, and a trans actress playing a trans woman. (Lots of lesbian content too if you're into that.) It's gotten great reviews so far--[link=http://www.huffingtonpost.com/maureen-ryan/orange-is-the-new-black_b_3574249.html]here's[/link] one--and I really can't recommend it enough. I've been surprised at just how much I've been enjoying it.
  13. Interview in Esquire with a Mormon man who took part in church-recommended conversion therapies. There is some seriously abusive stuff going on in these programs. Trigger warning on the excerpt in the spoiler tag. These "therapies" are worse than I could have imagined. I am grieving for everyone who has been through this type of abuse.
  14. The American Family Association Holier Than Thou Society is having another meltdown. This time over Hilton Hotels; lgbtqnation.com/2016/07/bigots-explode-hilton-ad-featuring-two-happy-men-bed-together/ Here's the ad that has AFA all bent out of shape; And oh, hey wait a minute....Didn't young Joshley Duggar once work for the AFA? I wonder now if some of his Ashley Madison misadventures were at Hilton properties?

  16. http://www.christianpost.com/news/christianmingle-dating-site-needs-to-include-gays-lesbians-california-court-rules-165948/ I'm sort of surprised by the successful lawsuit since I would have assumed dating sites could include anyone they like, but I think this is good news for a lot of LGBT Christians out there.

The family said that the 17-year-old’s parents sent her to a Christian boarding facility to undergo "therapy" for her "disease" after she went to prom with her girlfriend." I'm so glad this young lady's relatives are stepping in to try to free her! Save Sarah, indeed!
  19. So i imagine most of you have heard about Target letting Transgender use the bathroom of your choice and of course theres protests and boycott theres a boycott group on FB against target and urging members not to shop there and the admin just happens to be a fan of Steven Anderson aka PP so for every post someone makes the admin posts one of PP's sermons which he feels relates to this heres the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/856073327854766/ I Wouldve put this in the Steven anderson forum but since this topic is a worldly topic i put it here, if someone would like to put in the PP forum feel free to do so
  20. OK, when I was a leeeetle bitty kid (shortly after Edison invented moving pictures), Mom and Dad would let us watch Walt Disney stuff, no problems. But good heavens, Amurrica and the whole world are now in great danger of being corrupted by folks supporting the Ebil Hommaseksxual Agenda! https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/are-we-ready-for-a-gay-disney-princess-we-may-be-closer-than-you-think/2016/05/11/69d3302e-12e2-11e6-81b4-581a5c4c42df_story.html I am not sure whether it's important to be all emotional about Bucky and Pronk's subversion of the PROPER state of matrimony, or whether to be slightly relieved that they're not just fornicating all over the place in sinful open cohabitation....
  21. From the article: According to Whole Foods, no one in their store saw the slur as the man was checking out, and the bakery employee who supposedly wrote the slur is actually LGBTQ. Apparently, Whole Foods places their labels on the top of the cake box, not on the side as is shown in the photos the pastor and his lawyer are using as "evidence". Sure enough, security tapes show the labels on the top as he's checking out. People are asking how he didn't check the cake before walking out, and if he wrote the slur himself, just looking for some fast cash after a huge lawsuit. Also, in the press conference, the pastor & lawyer said Whole Foods hadn't reached out to them with anything substantive, while the article says differently. Now, Whole Foods is countersuing. The internet is ablaze with dissections of this controversy. As one article said...it was ballsy of WF to post the security footage as a response. Definitely one way to say, "Fuck it, we have nothing to hide here." It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
  22. Michael Voris probably isn't a name that will ring bells for most FJers, but he's well-known in the world of conservative and traditionalist Catholic social media: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Voris He's been banned from speaking at a number of Catholic venues because of his inflammatory rhetoric, which includes: saying only "faithful Catholic" should be allowed to vote saying that the US government should be replaced by a Catholic claiming that global warming is a "scam" to force population control measures on religious people blaming various problems on "the Jews" flirting with geocentrism claiming that the hierarchy is being controlled by "the lavender mafia" Voris is almost like a comedy sketch's idea of how Protestants saw Catholics in the pre-Vatican II era, but he's deadly serious. In any case, Voris has recently admitted to a "gay past" but was healed through the miraculous intercession of Our Lady of Fatima and St. Michael the Archangel and is now perfectly celibate: http://www.churchmilitant.com/video/episode/limiting-god Voris seems like a deeply closeted, self-hating, and troubled individual. In that sense, I feel for him. But he has repeatedly shown no mercy towards LGBT people who have a psychologically healthy view of their sexuality, and breeds hatred and anti-intellectualism among his followers. He reminds me of Father Charles Coughlan in many ways, but at least Coughlan shut up when his superiors told him, while Voris claims that the hierarchy is "persecuting" him for "telling it like it is" (he says he's revealing this information because the Archdiocese of New York is "trying to smear him"). I have to wonder if Voris will even be allowed to stay in the traditionalist "club" since many of them are taking the view that even celibate LGBT people who try to follow Catholic teachings are an existential threat to Catholicism. I suppose this is why Voris is claiming to be "healed" through supernatural means, rather than just claiming to be celibate.
