  • FOCUSING ON THE FLAWS OF FUNDAMENTALISM SINCE 2005

"Childbearing. Child rearing. Gender equality. Religion. Race. Regionalism. A woman's right to her body. Money/welfare. My god, everything my mama and Miss Manners ever said NOT to talk about among strangers!!"

Free Jinger is a free speech zone.  We do not allow hate speech and we limit direct discussion of children. If you don't like what someone is saying, challenge them. Logic and reason are prized here, as well as thoughtful debate. Be prepared to don your asbestos underoos, though.

If you are not okay with these topics, just leave. They are the point of this board.

Or, as one of our members said: "What is discussed in this forum is Supreme Court stuff--literally--...the venting might be ranting. No grammar police, no fully enforced punctuation rules, but please don't wade in if things religious and reproductive will harm your psyche, because this should be a safe place to marvel at the massive political and social movements about to overtake our nation. And recipes."

    You have been warned. Welcome!

For those younger folks who missed the original versions of these books, there was a hole in each of these front covers where the character's face is. So when you flipped open the front cover, it took you to a secondary front cover, where you'd see the full picture of the character-- and more! (And people wonder why these books appealed to kids?)

Thank!  A generous FJ benefactor contributed to his care when he was still a bitty baby.  Those were a perk to go along with some kitten vitamins and food. He looks nice in a suit

I had to do a quick search to help me remember which of the books I read. Seeing the old covers helped. I stopped reading the Foxworth series after these five. Those illustrations were creepy!

With the later books, we also get into all kinds of continuity issues. Corrine's version in "Petals on the Wind" of what the grandfather knew and when he knew it is completely different from Olivia's version in "Garden of Shadows" (which was mostly written by the ghostwriter after V.C. Andrews's death). We don't learn much of anything from "If There Be Thorns" because it's told by the POV of a creepy nine-year-old. And "Seeds of Yesterday" is mostly a tale of inertia.
