Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time ;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate ;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait
A Psalm of Life - Longfellow.
“I say to you all, once again -- in the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire
Visiting Melbourne for a few days. Thankfully my daughter and I were safely two blocks away from the tragic incident where a lunatic drove a car through the Bourke Street pedestrian mall, killing three people including a young child, and injuring over 20. Glad it's not terrorism, but it's really awful. Thinking of all those affected.
Usually when I cry about something, I can get it out on one good cry. With this being POTUS Obama's last full day of President I honestly can't stop crying. Hoping that the march gives me the fire I need to fight back.
Possibly 50cm of snow and 100km/h winds for tomorrow; the question is, do I play blizzard roulette? Do I stay up late, drink loads of wine, watch netflix and read, or do I be a good adult and go to bed early?
My grandmother passed away 31 years ago today and I've been thinking a lot about her. She was great and we were close. Am so thankful I had such a wonderful grandmother. In her memory, here's a photo of us at Christmas/1959 that's one of my favorites. Love you always, Nana.
Totally random, and I do NOT want to dox anyone or have them dox themselves. That being said - if anyone works at SpaceX/knows someone who does and would be willing to do a tour later this year (in exchange for whatever food/drink you want!!), I would be forever grateful if you'd PM me and let me know! I'm also offering one semi-used but still serviceable soul if you can arrange a meet and greet with Elon Musk
I just took my daughter temperature because I felt she was a bit too hot. I didn't switch on the light to not disturb her and when I checked the measurement at my phone light it was in Fahrenheit! Damn fucking modern electronic thermometer! I have no idea of how I managed to select the Fahrenheit option, better say I had no idea it had a Fahrenheit option, it has only one button to switch it on and off! Anyway what technology complicates technology solves and the Internet says 99,9 F is the equivalent of 37,7 C, a low fever. Right? I know it's not a major problem of life but it's three am here and my daughter wants to sleep on me cause feeling unwell she needs reassurance and I need to keep her checked in case the fever increases
