The Owl & The Pussycat Went To Sea...

Just finished this one!  The holiday time off has given me the opportunity to color, color, color!   Hope I'm not hogging the blog with my posts.  Once again, the original page's colors are more vivid, but I did the best I could to get a good photo to post.  This is from the Owls book by Creative Haven.

This is the difference between you and me, I think. I saw this book and didn't buy it!!!!!

I've said it before, but you really are so very talented!  When I get home I think I will get the owl book. It'll be fun to have different interpretations.

I love this!

Thank you so much!  I'm glad you like it.  Wish I could get my camera to take a photo that accurately reproduces the colors...am not sure why they're always a bit off.  Anyway, this is fairly close. The owl book is by the same artist who did my favorite book, Creative Cats. Her name is Marjorie Sarnat and her designs are just fabulous!  She's got a dog book coming out next May, too.  I look forward to seeing your versions of the pages in the owl book when you get it!  I just started working on another page from it;  the page with the owl on top of an old-fashioned style map that says "Here There Be Owls" on it. Old maps used to say something like "Here There Be Monsters" in areas they weren't too sure about....cool!

Nothing to do with coloring, but I loved this book so much growing up that I still have it memorized. I used to recite it to my babies after I ran out of songs.

I commented in my head the first time, apparently.   Since none of you seem to be mind readers, I guess I shall type it out for you ;)

This is another gorgeous one, @Tikobaby   I really love the blues you used.  They look lovely together.   I tend to use shades of the same color without enough contrast and then I don't like it after I have it done.  I need to start testing colors rather than relying on the barrel/cap color.

One of the pages I did yesterday I was really happy with.  It had all these really vibrant colors and I needed a red, so grabbed one that seemed to be just a straight up red and it turned out to be like drying blood colored.   I was so mad that it dulled down my vibrant colors.   My husband says it looks ok because the other colors pop more now, but I'm still disappointed because it ruined my "vision."

It's such an "Oh no!" moment when a color isn't right.  I'm sorry the color disappointed you.  Sometimes you can work around it, but other times the unwanted color just sticks out like a sore thumb. What was the page?

Thank you for your kind words about my owl/pussycat page.  I love blue and have tried to collect a good small group of blue markers that work well together. Am not really into blending them, just want them to set each other off well.

The page was just a pattern (I think from the Tessellations book) and the red was the LAST color I had to add.  It was so frustrating.   I've looked at the page a couple more times since I finished it and it's not as bad as I thought when I was actually coloring it, but because I know it's "wrong," I'm still annoyed by it :(

She could have actually had the kitchen designed so it would be easier to prep for meals and clean up afterwards.  I see nothing like that

I don't think her mind goes to functionality because she's not using that space for much. She's all pretty! Shiny!! NEW!!

She mentioned in a story yesterday that she had to clean some poopy diapers so the boys are nearly four and she still isn't toilet training them.  They will stay babies for a couple more years

I would be getting that looked into (ie seeing a continence nurse), that's unusually late to be still in diapers, particularly with older siblings. If she can't see that that is a problem it's a bit of a worry.

Ugh, she is constantly reminding everyone that they built the house themselves. 🙄

I think Joy is one of the siblings that was critical of Jill when she pulled away from the family the way she did, and they may not have much of a relationship right now. Don’t see any interaction on social media, though I know we don’t see everything. That would be a shame if that was the case, especially since Jill was there for Joy when Joy lost Annabelle.

Joy commented on the IG post. Saying she was heartbroken for them or similar. She comments occasionally, the usual “ how cute” about a kid pic or whatever.  All the married daughters seem supportive of each other.  I don’t think we can really judge off social media interaction, or even photos together. They are all busy, with lots of small children, and most of the events we get photos of are crowded with not everyone present necessarily in the picture. They may text or send each other funny memes or get together for coffee and we know nothing about it.

In Chelsea's Easter pictures George is wearing an outfit that I literally have never seen ever. It almost looks like weird plus fours. She is slowly inching him into pants I guess. Is Pentecostal fashion very big and blousy like what the older girls wear? It looks like the shape would be comfortable but the fabrics wouldn't be. I guess if you are aiming for a potato sack shape you need to add as much lace and ruffles and florals as possible to make sure that people know it is clothing.

If the kids all get a bath before bed and then put on their clothes for the next day, it’s not too gross. But I always had bed wetters so changing everything in the morning was a non negotiable. But if her kids don’t wet the bed, then I guess it’s not a huge deal.

There's no way her kids are magically not bed wetters. They've probably just learned she doesn't give a shit so they grab an older sibling or their grandmother for help. No doubt Braggie has no clue what's going on with her kids over the course of a day. She's an aggressively incompetent parent.

Braggie strikes me as the type of parent who has this idea in her head of what her children do over the course of the day while her older children and her mother would be standing there wondering what strangers she's talking about.
