Thanksgiving 2015

The weather isn't great here today. Ice and slush mostly. Since the roads are slick, we have abandoned our plans of going to my parents' house for turkey tonight. So...we're at home. It's just like a regular day here. We don't have a turkey in the oven or anything. It's kind of sad but that's life. We'll be eating spaghetti for dinner because it's something we have on hand. We are trying to decide if we'll head over to my parents' house tomorrow night for leftovers. My brother is in town with his family. Two of their four kids are sick. We haven't decided if we want to risk getting sick or not (especially since I was JUST sick already.) I don't know what we'll do at this point.

It's been a lazy day here so far. Our son slept in, which was nice. Then we just had breakfast and hung out. We got out the finger paints for the first time. Henry wasn't too sure about them and he got bored after about 3 minutes. But he did make two lovely pictures. And we did a hand print that we can turn into a turkey.

Later today we might get our tree up (but we probably won't decorate it until this weekend.) Other than that...it's just a regular day in our house. I hope everyone out there in FJ-land is having a nice holiday.

Here'a list of a few things I am thankful for....

My son, my husband, my dog, my family, my house, my families health, my health (minus the RA), medication, friends (in real life and the 'virtual' kind,) comfortable clothing, food.

That actually sounds like a lovely relaxed day!  I kind of hate it when the calendar tells us "this day is extra important" because it seems like all it does is put pressure on to do something significant.  It's just a day, like any other.  Give it a few more hours and it will be gone.

I too changed my original plans for today due to icy roads and cold temperatures (along with having a cold plus a wrenched back).  Instead of going 30 miles away to a gathering of about 10 people (friends who I see all the time), my friend and I hung out at my house which is in construction disarray, he split firewood for me because of my wrenched back, and I made split pea soup, baked potatoes, and pumpkin pie.  He brought ice cream.  We had a nice chat, the dog ran around the yard, then they left for home, ahhh, peaceful, before, during and after!

I like my friends but would rather visit with them organically instead of gathering in pressure-mode just because the calendar says so.

PS -- love the finger paintings!

Jinger and Jeremy attended a screening of Candace Cameron's movie that's coming out next Friday. It's called Unsung Hero.

No surprise there. 7 out of the 8 Morton sons have a honeymoon baby. It’s almost creepy.

ETA: I’m not saying they all got pregnant on the honeymoon trip. Just that they all got pregnant within a month of their marriage. Their wives all had babies 9-10 months after the wedding.

When sexually active, it's always a possibility.

As for c-sections, I don't have very many friends who big families (those who do have lots of kids have had vaginal births), but I know when my mom's friend was having babies in the late 80's/early 90's, her doctor was unimpressed when she got pregnant for the fifth time because he said anything past three sections was dangerous. Whether or not that's true or just his opinion, I'm unsure, but it makes sense to me. You're cutting through a lot of tissue and layers, and things weaken with each delivery.

my best friend has 5 kids and the last were twins and she delivered them all naturally.
