Ok then...

Blahblah

So I finally caved in after struggling with combs and bristle brushes and bought a Furminator at the recommendation of a couple of websites and the woman at the Pet Barn (who clearly had no ulterior motive in selling me a stupidly expensive cat grooming item). I was skeptical and for $Aus56 I was crossing my fingers (and everything else) that it would be worth it.

And then this happened.......

This is thing is FREAKING AMAZING. Both of them sat for ages purring away and loving every second of it. Oh, and that bottom photo? That all came out of Alfie's tail.

However I am feeling like a bad cat parent because I clearly haven't been doing much good with my previous combs and brushes :(

Oh my that's a lot of hair that isn't going to be spread around your house now!

Holy cow - you've got enough fur to make another Alfie.

What is this device?  Asking because The Spook currently has a mat or two on her back (and what an indoor, short haired cat does to manage that is beyond me).

@Blahblah - The Furminator is the greatest invention in the world. I've been using it on my 3 beasts for 3 years now. The first time, I swear I could have knitted a sweater with what came off them. Since then, I've been using it weekly and they LOVE it! I actually brush them in the shower - keeps them confined in one space then I just rinse off the walls and floor and scoop up what has escaped the pile from the drain filter. The amount that comes off decreases as you use it more so the process gets quicker each time. Now, though, I have to be careful. They enjoy the brushing so much they don't like when we have a shorter session but my biggest tabby started getting a bit too sparse on his back so I had to cut back!

LOVE our Furminator!  I use it on Marbles and she loves it!  It is amazing how much fur and hair one can remove!  Well worth the investment :)

I have a furminator, too.  I paid about $35US, but it's so worth it.  I use it mostly on the dog because the cats hate to be brushed, but it works really well, and I end up looking like Blahblah when I'm done.  I've always wished I could vacuum the dog, but he's afraid of the hose attachment.  we have one cat who will let me vacuum him if he's in the right mood.

..........is it weird that I have a sandwich bag of cat hair from when I last did this. I got the Crafting with Cat Hair book, and I am waiting to get round to making something with it.

Not a fundie- but the other day a Michigan state rep tweeted a picture of a couple buses leaving the Detroit airport, wondering where the “illegal invaders” were being bussed to.

The “illegal invaders” were the Gonzaga men’s basketball team, who had just arrived in Detroit for their regional semifinal matchup.

Dude gets exposed and his response is basically, “STFU you communist.”

He’s also an election denier who has predicted another civil war.

Erica has two associations for me. One is Erika Shupe, and the other is that it was the name of the “Brown Owl” of my Brownie Guides group when I joined. Brown Owl is the traditional name given to the main leader of a Brownie unit here in the UK. I remember she always had her hair in a single long plait down her back.

We use Brown Owl for the main leader in Canada too and Tawny Owl for second in command.

I am a Brown Owl! In Ireland, but was also a Tawny Owl in the UK. I love being Brown Owl and the whole story that goes with it.

i think she announced it’d be Amaree,

My guess was Arrow Canaan on the Baby Names Thread. Her boy names follow an ACC pattern & don't have cutesy spellings. Since there's not much with the aforementioned pattern, that's what lead me to my guess.

I don’t think she announced it on her social media yet. I think she might’ve let it slip when ordering something with the baby’s name on it.

Gotcha.  I don’t follow her but see reddit posts about her and couldn’t remember where I saw the name.

If it is Amaree, it’s the first “non-noun as a name” name for awhile, right,  I can’t remember them all—anchor, armor, anthym, aynjel, are the four I remember that are other words.  Then andre, arissa (is is anissa?), anniston (i will never be convinced it’s not after jennifer anniston).  So I’m missing 3.

Anyway, lucky kid gets a normal name if it’s amaree
