Coloring for Jesus?

While walking through my local walmart this week I stumbled upon this gem..

Naturally I wondered just how "Christian" this could be. Turns out it's mostly a regular coloring book but with Bible verses that may or may not be related to the image on the opposite page.

I would have bought/scanned the whole thing but it was $10 and I could think of several other things I could do with that money.

As a bonus, here's a fun book currently being featured at LifeWay (southern baptist owned bookstore)

All these new christian coloring books that are coming out would be a great way to get kids to learn bible verses rather than some of the more traditional, boring methods, IMO.

I just noticed that there are a whole bunch of new christian coloring books coming out later this year.

Generally, the text is related to the opposite side of the page it's on, vs the opposite page.  Did that make sense?   Many coloring books have some kind of quote or inspirational message on the back of each page.   I rarely both to read them because that's just not what I'm interested in.   It's just a say of not having a blank page when you have single sided/perforated pages,   I suspect that someone decided that people feel like they are getting more for their money when there is some kind of text on the back of each picture vs just a plain blank page.

I might  disagree. I could imagine with some controlling parents that would make coloring not enjoyable. Imagine having to repeat that stupid verse before you were allowed to fill in any gap (those things have 100s!) or before changing color.

I have 2 non christian books with the inspirational messages on the opposite page.  They a bit more clever than the above pic because they put a border to be colored on the page with the message.  Meaning I color the border and actually look at the message.  I'd ignore the bible verses in this one since it is otherwise blank.

I also have 2 books with angels that I bought because I hoped to get Mom interested.  She wasn't.

That's true.  I guess I was thinking of SANE people using them as a way to generate interest rather than the more boring methods of memorization that tend to be used for such things.

That reminds me, @clueliss  I meant to tell you this before and forgot.  I have a friend that does beautiful hand drawn celtic designs and I just found out that she has put out several coloring books.  You are the one that does the celtic/knotwork pages at work, right?

Anyway, here is a link to her books (I'm linking to her page rather than amazon because it's easier to see them all together, but she has amazon links by each book): http://www.artoffoxvox.com/celtic-coloring-books/

I have some of her non-celtic art on magnets and love them.  I've had them for probably close to 10-12 years now and I still smile when I see them on the fridge.  She's a lovely person, as well as a great artist.

People on Reddit think Joy wasn't there, which is understandable since she went through something similar. Going to something like that would probably just bring all that pain back up.

RE: number of c-sections - I've heard of women in Europe being told 2 only; my friend's parents argued that Americans do more and their doctor okayed four. Women in US 4 only. But have met women who have had 5 sections. Two women I know were told at their last c-section (3rd and 5th) that their uterus was at the point of rupture and advised them to not have any more pregnancies. My point is it's very individual and a doctors should consider individual circumstances.

One sister could be a crime of opportunity, but 4 sisters and a babysitter presumably multiple times each is a preference.

And considering the age of the youngest sister at the time? Yeah, that's not a crime of opportunity.

She talked about how the little children were taking bread from the pantry and putting it in there.

      That could be concerning.

Look I know kids do weird things as part of games, and maybe I've been reading JRod too much but my first thought was that they are hungry and hiding food for later.

This I just don't get. Surely at least part of the point of it is storage? At the very least wouldn't you clean just to make sure you hadn't brought spiders or other insects in with you?? Betting at least part of the price difference was cleaning, restoring, polishing and insect-free guarantee!

She talked about how the little children were taking bread from the pantry and putting it in there. So maybe it was clean when it came home but then the food got in it?

Unclear. I guess I don't get why if you recorded that you wouldn't pause, wipe it out, and rerecord? I would be embarrassed by that.
